Molten needs to either be recoded or reworded. If you take 20 damage, then heal for 20, you've taken 20 damage so it should cost 20 less, but does not. In its current state it SHOULD be Molten giant 25 mana 8/8 "actually costs your current life -5 mana"

No, the reason why it's useless is because you need to be too low in order for it to be worth, and because of that there's no coming back after you play it. It worked very well in Warlock because you had the ability to come back after you played it. But as it costs more and they lack good healing cards to go with it, it just isn't viable any more.

Would making it work on total damage taken instead of current health relative to max health make it insane? As in, you can take 5 damage, heal, be at 30 but molten is now a 20 cost card. Of course, it wouldn't work with damage absorbed by armor, else warrior would be insane with it
