Honestly, given how many cards Kibler finds himself drawing, I question why he even has Soularium in the first place. It's not like he ever has any room in his hand for those three cards. So yes, I'd say it's pretty nonessential.

I think one shouldn't play the plot twist for quest completion. I think it should be played as a regular Plot Twist deck, and wait for Dorian/Beltrug.

You only need one to accelerate the completion of the quest, you can just save the other one for Dorian & Beltrug. There's no reason to delay the quest especially since the hero power itself works really well with Dorian & Beltrug, you'd be wasting lots of value for the sake of one big swing move which you can do later anyways? Not worth it..

I think Dorian/Betrug should not play the quest at all. Just play mountain Giants and darkest hour/inferno/rafaam's scheme and you can have a full board long before the quest would have finished. Quest might work in a temp beastmaster deck with rafaam as win condition vs control.

Starts with 3 cards, use 1, draw 6 you're at 8 cards with mountain giant then costing 5 at turn 4. It doesn't discount itself

no? turn 1 you start with 4 cards. You play your quest and end your turn with 3 cards. Turn 2 you draw 2 cards and end it with 5 cards. Turn 3 you draw 2 cards and end it with 7. Turn 4 you start of by drawing 1 more card, therefore having 8 cards, one being mountain giant. "Costs (1) less for each other card in your hand" -> meaning that the 12-cost mountain giant gets reduced by 7, since those are the 'other' cards in your hand. So unless you play Soularium on turn 4 to reduce the cost of your giant to 3, therefore discarding 3 other random cards in your deck, you can not play giant on turn 4. Correct me if I'm wrong or just don't get a joke.
