This deck is built against aggro. The issue is that the game is *so* unbalanced towards aggro that a deck built to counter aggro still isn't good enough to beat it half the time. You can build a deck purely around early game aggro but then you lose against everything else including the rogue aggro deck which has some sustain in the late game.

It's not unbalanced, what you outlined is rock paper scissors. One of the pillars of game design. Aggro beats control, control beats midrange, midrange beats aggro. Then you tech in a card here or there to do better or worse against certain matchups you feel you are encountering more of. Like dirty rat, ooze, or mind control tech. There is more aggro in the meta because you can play 2-3 games in the amount of time a control v control matchup can play out. And second, it requires less legendaries/dust and stays competitive while also having a very casual playstyle. Something most hearthstone players (by quantity) are into.

ArcadiaCv A card game should never be rock paper scissors. If it hits that point then it's called flawed game design. A balanced card game would be a little more complicated in that it has decks which have various win rates against other decks in the meta (and better yet several decks for each deck type) and then it's up to the player to play decks with a higher win rate against the most common deck. Don't mistake this for being the same thing. When the game is so tilted towards one deck type (as it is now with the addition of 1 mana 3/2's and patches) there's less balance between them and it becomes *more* 'rock paper scissors like' which is the issue I'm outlining here.

i5m1thy Balance has to work that way. For instance: a 4/2 beats a 1/4, a 1/4 beats three 1/1's, and three 1/1's beat a 4/2. The core of most game design is one thing counters another thing which is in turn countered by something else. If aggro beats control, then it wouldn't make any sense to design control to beat aggro, because then aggro doesn't have a favorable match up anymore. Balance *is* being weak to one thing and strong against another.

ArcadiaCv When you factor in rng (such as who goes first or second and what cards each player draws) and player skill you end up with a winrate that each deck has against each other deck. It isn't the case (or at least shouldn't be) that aggro has 100% winrate against control, midrange has 100% winrate against aggro and control has 100% winrate against midrange for example, even if they are built to counter such deck types. If the game worked that way we may as well all just be playing rock paper scissors. There's no fun in a system like that and it hasn't done in the majority of the history of the game. You have good matchups and bad matchups but the issue is that aggro received a significant boost in this expansion so the system has shifted in a way to make it more like a game of rock paper scissors and therefore the game offers less variety and is less enjoyable.

Jade druid IS the control deck. I know, weird, right? But Hearthstone's "control" decks are all midrange decks. And since jade druid goes later than 'control' it is more 'controlly'

Jade druid isn't even in the meta really, and most of the meta is just renolock/priest, and reno decks are pretty control by all definitions; this is the slowest, most control heavy meta that we've seen in years in hearthstone, yet Jade druid still doesn't appear at all. Clearly, control decks do win against jade druid, or else we wouldn't see a control meta with jade druid all but forgotten.

Hearthstone is fun as heck, even if I don't have the whole collection, there's still a lot of strategy and thinking involved! Even if you don't have really nice cards, you can still do a lot with a cheap deck if you have good fundamentals

Fair enough. My theory that it would be a one of in many decks seems like it won't come true, on paper its like "reno-like effect for aggro and rouge" but it's never that simple.

Greater healing potion has been incredibly useful in my Reno priest deck, not only against aggro but also against Renolock, where the only real challenge is staying out of the range of the combo. That said, that particular deck is stupidly late game heavy (N'Zoth, Deathwing Dragonlord, Chromaggus...), meaning that it's a bit of a special case. I don't think I'd recommend it for anyone running a more sane deck, unless they run into a particularly high percentage of face decks, but it is brilliant for balancing out a totally dysfunctional early game without going all the way of actually fixing the thing.

Matthew Kessler, The legend rank is when you get to rank one, out of 25. Then, the number shown on the legend rank is the # you are ranked compared to everyone else, if that makes sense. Like if it said 216, it would mean they are # 216 in their region.

It's MMR (matchmade rank). If you win against someone higher rank than you or lose to someone lower than you, your rank change is higher than if you lose to someone higher than you or won against someone lower than you.
