Hearthstone's Exodia - game of the day #56

For people not familiar with Yugioh, Exodia is a combo that, if you manage to assemble it, wins the game immediately. Like that's actually the text on the card, "You win the game(duel) now." This deck has a combo that works out to be pretty much as good as that, provided you can assemble the pieces.

Usually I agree with your card choices but I must say (if you read the comments, I know you have an editor), please Strife bb, choose Bloodmage over Loot Hoarder -- you have so much discount with Sorc Apprentice there is no reason NOT to run it especially when you are playing for burn damage and don't need that extra damage 1 damage from Loot Hoarder.

Bryce Kusnierz I believe the big difference between the 2 cards is that you would play the loot hoarder on turn 2, whereas you would have a very big greedy tendency to keep the bloodmage for the spell value. In a deck where you are looking for a certain combo, you can't keep it for the spell value, so you would play it as a 1/1 anyways. Might as well take the 2/1. Also, you have to realize the win condition of this deck, It's a combo deck, which isn't to burn them down like a normal freeze mage, but to activate archmage antonidas with 4 Apprentices, so that you can infinite combo to win, in which case, you wouldn't need the bloodmage to begin with.

Bryce Kusnierz The 1 extra attack from loot hoarder isn't about threatening more face damage, it's about preventing your opponent from playing annoying creature or simply getting better trades : if you play a loot hoarder on turn 2, you can challenge a turn 1 flame imp, you can trade with a turn 2 scientist, you can prevent a pally from playing knife juggler/minibot on turn 2, same thing with sorcerer apprentice/zapomatic/cogmaster ... thalnos poses no threat at all against all of these minions

Bryce Kusnierz I think that with this deck the spell damage is not really important because you win by dealing infinite damage anyway, so the extra attack on the loot hoarder is actually more valuable

Any case anyone wants to try this deck keep in mind you can play two Sorc. Apprentice's, Echo and Thaurisan all in the same turn to prep for the infinte combo on the following turn; however, Thaurisan must also reduce Archmage's mana cost for this to work (and you must also have a spell that has 4 mana or less).

masterwaylon huh. Your math checks out. But in my comment above it clearly states that 2+2+2+6=10. And I doubt that I would make such a silly mistake, so if I had to go with my gut I'd have to say it equals 10.

S.A alkhater yeah YGO and MTG too complicated for me to get into even though I like em, the show does throw you off a bit from an early age :D. Played a YGO ps3 game, too many cards and reading it hurt my head (also it had bad UI) and I didn't really get card games that much back then, just usually put cool monsters and removal spells lmao

+Guillermo Garcia Piza That's the entire way the deck was built- Freeze Mage is made to stall out, or FREEZE, the board until you can use Alexstrazsa and burn spells to quickly take down your opponent. Echo Mage, a variant on standard Freeze Mage, stalls the board until you can use crazy combos, like filling the board with Molten Giants or, like the video, using Antonidas and Sorcerer's Apprentice to win the game with infinite fireballs. Not every deck is built around board control.

As a former YGO player, this is not really an analogue to Exodia, though it certainly is an OTK deck. Fun concept, but...Yu gi oh is filled with silly OTKs that aren't instant like Exodia.

Antonidas needs to be smacked with the nerf-bat, you basically can't even play mage without him as your win condition anymore. Seriously, what win conditions outside of cloned molten giants and archmage antonidas does mage have? Yes Mech Mage obviously still outpaces a lot of decks, but vs THE current meta goddeck (Patron Warrior) i pretty much exclusively see those two win conditions and they're both extremely boring / frustrating to play against.

Funny are those people who pay money just so they have little piece of additional animation on their hero ability. Are most top 5 ranks players like that? I see it a lot in streamed matches. It's not just the streamer, it's obvious they want to appeal to the viewers. Most opponents have Medivh Alleria or that Bronzebeard king as their hero.
