I think this video showcased the strengh of the tap pretty well. Even though he did only make two taps, the advantage he gained over his opponent with those taps was pretty significant. He showed of the Warlock's ability to maintain significant pressure in the late game without running out of Cards and with BOTH of his taps he drew into a solution that was better than the current solution he had. Excelent video, the Warlock definitely has the best Hero Ability!

Thank you so very much for these vids! I just started playing Hearthstone a few days ago. I have already played (and won) against 2 players with golden 'skins' and nearly all legendary rare cards. You took a game that is so complex and yet made it so simple to use. This is BY FAR the best 'beginner/basic' videos I have seen on a subject. You are a great teacher. Trump Senpai

He used tap only twice in the game. So that wasn't the best example for how good life tap is. Of course that was partilly because his opponent used ineffective cards and he didn't need to tap until the very late game.

Trust me Hindsite he recorded many many games but he kept winning without needing to life tap or he got beaten. The deck he was using didn't make it easy to show off life tap because he had lots of high cost minions like Ogre and Dread Infernal.

Sean McDonald Yeah, I know this is series is designed for complete beginners with basic cards but I think he should have used a Zoo deck just to illustrate the point better, especially as Zoo is one of the first "web decks" that a beginner will construct.

The advanced lesson is that your life total is actually extremely important in a fast paced constructed format. Being at low life puts you in lethal range of your opponents combos, or simply their burn spells. This means that when you're close to being in range of such combos (e.g. 14 life against a druid, ~15 life against a hunter), you will have to do extremely inefficient trades in order to preserve your life above the lethal threshold, and these bad trades alone might be the reason you loose the game. So, in actuality, depending on the matchup, preserving your life total can be extremely important.

hey trump. I only started hearthstone like last week tuesday and these tutorials have really made me hit the ground running.. on like my third carp pack i even got an Al'Akir.. so im trying to main shaman right now as i've been getting alot of shaman cards from packs... i also love mage, its my most consistent.. i just play alot of minions that up spell damage and load on all the basic mage damage skills.. the burst is fun. Basically keep it up mayne.. im loving hearthstone and ur vids help. i also watched a 10-hour video of the blizzcon opening day... so watching the pros really helped lol. also.. can anyone answer this... In crafting.. if you want to focus on a certain constructed deck (shaman for me) would you advise de-crafting other rare cards like 'crazed alchemist' or something that might be useful in another deck just to focus on my main deck? or would it be best to keep rare cards just cause they are rare and when you need it later you will be sad? lol

He played over 10 games trying to repeat the exact same things you heard him say in this video. He won against most of his opponent without the need for life tapping due to his deck running mostly high cost minions instead of being a zoo-like deck.

***** u mentioned how he didnt use all his mana every turn, this is because its more important to spend all ur mana as a druid than as a warlock, considering most types of decks both classes run
@Aquilenne
@Aquilenne 9 жыл бұрын
He said all the mana that made sense to spend. Usually if he didn't play all his mana, it was because he couldn't (1 mana remaining after playing the best cards for the situation and no 1 mana cards), or was holding onto situational reactive cards that he'd benefit more from holding on to. (e.g. hellfire). The point he was trying to make wasn't to mindlessly spend all your mana, but that if you have a way to do so, you should consider that play first, and then compare others to it, and only do something else if you know why you're making that.
@Hemlocke3
@Hemlocke3 9 жыл бұрын
If nothing else, Trump is correct about the game being about board control, but you do have to watch your Health. Many classes have some way of dealing 10 damage in one turn and I personally find that when you hit that 10HP mark, that's the danger zone. 15 HP odd is where I stop tapping because I don't want to risk it. Especially if I'm ahead. Of course HP means diddly all when you're opponent is a Miracle Rogue or just Pyrox2/Fireballx2.

It's a little odd to pick a flat number to stop at, or more to the point, against most decks, 15 is probably too high unless you're ahead with options in hand. Reason being that you want to play the odds, if tapping helps you get lethal sooner, then giving your opponent earlier lethal didn't actually hurt you any. I'd only really stop at 15 against Druid, since Druids will combo for 14 fairly often. Frankly, against Paladin, I'd feel fine tapping down to 7, and wouldn't be too upset to tap to 5, just to make sure I had options in hand if I haven't seen both equalities yet (particularly if I have a taunt mechanic). Most times, if you aren't already holding next turn lethal, a difference of two life is minimal, so long as it reasonably gives your opponent 1 or less additional ways to win outright that aren't already near lethal (for example, at 15 against Jaina and don't have cards prepared for more than this full turn? TAP, since even though you're now dead to the two fireballs she might be holding and hero power, frankly the same was true at 15, it was just going to take longer without you reasonably drawing any more outs than you do now).
@skylarl5545
@skylarl5545 9 жыл бұрын
HououinKyouma42 agreed, you really learn "fearless tapping" if you play Handlock enough. The key is to know what kind of deck your opponent is playing, and what combo / how much damage is possible in the next turn.

I was hoping that you would go into some of the common burn combos from the various classes so that players would have an idea of when they would be entering the danger zone while tapping. If the situation is dire enough you can tap at 3 or more life but it would be a shame to drop games that were otherwise in the bag because of impatience.

What are some good cards to add to the level 10 edition of the basic zoo deck? I don't have naxx and only have ~260 dust and basically no cards so I was thinking, doomgaurd or argus maybe HG. thoughts?
@Plague_Doc22
@Plague_Doc22 9 жыл бұрын
cgoodm I personally think Argus is a must have in Zoo. It not only adds more damage and health to guys to put them out of small aoe dmg spells like swipe but also forced the other player to hit a target they may have prefered not to hit that turn. I'm currently rank 3 and still find taunt givers an annoyance. The 4-4 Dwarf is also great ( forgot the name of it, Iron smth). And is only a common.
@Befooks
@Befooks 9 жыл бұрын
2 doomguards is pretty much mandatory in zoo due to the advantage of having extremely low, or zero cards in hand, which makes you able to play doomguard for little-to-no risk. It both serves as a finisher, and a big body that your opponents have to deal with on their next turn.

Man, I have really wanted to build warlock deck, but I don't want to play rush deck or the normal control deck. I would love to rather use demon deck, but I am not sure if I should focus my dust on it since I started the game about month ago and still lack many cards. Also I really love the look the demons, if that makes any sense. And everyone says demon deck is not viable at all, and what I have seen in the new expansion cards, there are nothing to make demons more viable.

The thing about an demonogist deck is that the cards dont interact with each other or with you. Yes you can say that they are overpower but the drawback will be to high for you to bring you back up... There are some videos where is played the demonogist deck and you can see why is not an valiable deck.

I think this video could have been better. If you are going to make a video about tapping tactics specifically, showing more than 2 taps (4 life spent) could have been more educational. Real problem here is that using the basic deck doesn't really highlight what situations hand-lock tends to end up in. You mostly played on curve through the match.

Hearthstone is about life. The only way to lose at this point (besides conceding, of course) is to hit 0 or less life. What is more technically accurate from the viewpoint of this video is that, generally, paying life to draw cards will often increase your position in the game to the point where your opponent loses even more life than what you paid. Basically, in many cases the sheer card advantage gained as a result from paying 2 mana and 2 life will often lead to your opponent losing more than 2 life, and potentially more than 2 mana in trying to get things under control.
