***** Your tempo play failed, they removed your threat cost efficiently, while reducing the total number of cards remaining in your deck, likely discarding something useful. If they had ANY minions in play you're going to probably be in bad shape. People try and make excuse for Fel Reaver by saying "Oh, pretend the cards lost were on the bottom of your deck" etc. which makes sense, but doesn't change the fact that Fel Reaver is shit and discarding that many cards is NOT WORTH IT. There's a reason no one runs Fel Reaver in constructed. Arena is different, but it's still an "all or nothing" play usually.

Clockwork Knight lol no one runs fel reaver in constructed because the cards it would discard synergize very well with the rest of your deck (or are staple cards/staple legendaries). In arena it's a different story, you just put togheter a bunch of cards with minimal synergy and hope for the best. Fel reaver does not matter unless you fatigue since the cards it discarded could have been on the bottom of your deck by sheer RNG alone. people make the "Excuse" you mention because it is the correct way of looking at it.

Merlinose The thing is, getting a chicken is still better than getting nothing. The only time it matters is if you run into fatigue, or if your deck is very dependent on specific minion cards (such as legendaries).... 90% of the time you don't run into fatigue, and thus you don't draw all your cards anyways, so just think of the card that turns into a chicken as a card at the bottom of your deck that you never drew... On the other hand, drawing into a spell is AMAZING. So the card is worthwhile in a deck like this.

I can't believe people are still calling Gnomish Experimenter shit. It's obviously pretty good in a deck with 10 spells/weapons. A third of the time you draw a spell and get a 2 mana minion. That's worth paying one more mana for. Obviously I don't like it as much until I've drawn Ysera (in this particular deck), but usually you don't have a super valuable legendary (and Trump doesn't mind dumping it as seen from the Fel Reaver).

Skii Mask Fel reaver can be situationally good, experimenter is ALWAYS bad. Fel reaver can be a good finisher or top deck, but potentially polymorphing your own minions for a vague chance at drawing a spell is never worth it.

Playing the card which is harder to play is usually correct. That turn he could afford to play the worse card, so if the opponent does some kind of a crazy board clear, he can then have the better card available when he really needs it. In general using the worse or harder to play cards first is usually better.

So by the way, about Gnomish Experimenter in this deck, you have two scenarios, the one where you draw a card or the one where you get a chicken. A chicken is as useful as a spare part, meaning it is 1/3 of a card. A card is worth 1/1 card. Since you get the chicken 2/3 of the time, you can say the average scenario is drawing (2(1/3)+1)/3 which equals 5/9 of a card. When you note that life tap is usually considered the best hero ability in the game and it is essentially 2 mana draw a card, we can say that 2 mana is at least reasonable for a draw a card effect. 3 mana for a 3/2 means that we need to draw at least half a card on average (half of 2 mana is 1 mana) in order to achieve value. Experimenter in this deck does that since 5/9 is greater than 1/2. Therefore, Experimenter is definitely worth in this deck. Time for the hate.

In this deck, Gnomish Experimenter has 19 minions to turn into chickens. That is a 65% chance to make a chicken and a 35% chance to not draw a chicken, before doing all that situational match crap based on cards already drawn. Summing up all the 19 minions mana cost, there is a total of 79 mana worth of minions in the deck. Divide that up, that means each minion is worth on average 4.16 mana. So the Gnomish Experimenter in this deck theoretically has a 65% chance to turn a card that on average is worth 4.16 mana into a -1 mana card (because a wisp has the same stats, but does not cost 1 mana). A 65% chance to essentially lose 5.16 mana worth of awesomeness so that you can say, "This is gonna be amazing!" That's why the card is crap. Math doesn't lie, math doesn't have pre-conceived notions, math doesn't care about personal feelings for wanting a certain card to work. Gnomish Experimenter is an over priced 2 drop with a battlecry that math proves is a load of crap that you don't want. Don't play this card, regardless how many times Trump plays it, because its worse than a pile of flaming dog poo. Just to be fair, Trump's 10 spells in this deck averages about 3.1 mana per spell. So the 35% chance of drawing one of them would be roughly worth 3.1 mana, which barely pays for the mana cost of playing this stupid, god damn fuck nugget of a card.

theStonerKid69 this makes no sense because the card is in your hand so you don't even have to play so all you lose is the 1 mana for paying 3 for a 3/2. But if you want to think like that you shouldn't consider the 4,16 average since that was in your deck and would only matter if you went to fatigue. The best you can do is compare the 1 mana loss for playing a 3/2 with the cost of drawing a card. Which is technically 3 mana (Arcane intellect draws you 2 cards but you lose one so it's basically draw 1). So it's 3 mana * 0.35 -1*0.65, which averages at 0.4. Can conclude that in this deck gnomish experimenter is worth 3.4 mana. Ofc it loses some tempo. But can be valued at more than that. Because the 1/1 chicken isnt worth 0 cards. It's still worth something between 0 and 1 card. So you should multiply not by 0.35 but maybe by 0.4~

To People saying Fel Reaver discarding your deck only matters if you reach fatigue: - Fel Reaver will be the reason YOU reach fatigue (your opponent won't) - A 5 mana 8/8 is usually not even going to be that good, it's like a worse Sea Giant - When it is played the opponent usually has an answer to it - It's really easy to discard your entire deck in 1-2 turns

StealthOD130 Last time I chose Gnomish Experimenter I went 12-0, the only 12-0 I've ever gotten nonetheless. 4 of the wins were from Gnomish drawing me a Fireball to finish off the opponent. To be fair, I had 4 Fireballs and 2 Blizzards, but that still only put me at 6 spells, Trumps deck here has 4 more than mine did; the logic is sound.

The only way Gnomish inventor is bad is if you go into fatigue. The reason for this is that any card you draw that turns into a chicken can be thought of as being at the very bottom of the deck. In this deck you had a 1/3ish of it being one of the best neutral drawing mechanics in the game, or it has a 2/3 of it, technically, not making a difference. The only reason why it is bad if it misses is because of the body and not turning something into a chicken.

Despite Fel Reaver working, this is video is actual a great example of why Fel Reaver is a "never pick." Fel Reaver worked for him in the most ideal situation and it still burned his whole deck an led him to fatigue. Trump was insanely lucky that; Fel Reaver put Ysera on top, the mage no polymorph or any common removal cards, and he had stealth part. Trump has a selective memories of Fel Reaver just hitting the mark in the luckiest of situations. Don't pick it

Hey Trump, you may not read this, but I'll ask anyway. If the other commenters have input, that would be nice too. I want to play some games on my hunter, my lowest level class, but I hate the idea of playing face-hunter! I feel so awful getting wins that way. I've tried beast hunter, and that's about 75% as good, only because it has a lot of face-hunter cards. I've tried control hunter with a bunch of legendaries and that deck isn't even half as good as face-hunter! (Edit: Also, control hunter seems to use very few hunter cards. I might as well be playing a different class!) Please Trump, let me know a "pretty good" hunter deck that I don't have to taint my soul to play!

Arm4g3dd0nX What is your collection like? I've been messing around with a feign death-based midrange hunter (actual midrange, not the "aggro hunter that has two slower cards so we'll call it midrange" netdeck) this week that has been working out fairly well. The biggest hurdle for non-aggro hunters to overcome is figuring out how to actually make use of the hero power, it's great for late-game pressure but pretty useless otherwise. They do have some really great value cards though (highmane, explosive shot, webspinner, the weapons, feign death with things like sylvanas and shredders, animal companion, sniper, etc) so if you can get a solid base of neutrals going it isn't too difficult to make a functional deck out of the class.

The Message's Movies I have most of the cards in the game... and I crafted Sylvanis, Ragnaros, and The Black Knight. I got Dr. Boom from a card pack. I have one Savannah Highmane, one Steamweedle Sniper, one Feign Death, and no Piloted Sky Golems. (I prefered to craft legendary cards as they are a lot less likely from card packs.) If getting those 5 cards would make all the difference, I guess I can start saving up. Thought I also have my eye on Tirion or one of the warlock legendaries... or maybe even Bloodmage Thalnos. I DO have all the weapons, explosive shots, piloted shredders. Edit: Maybe the main thing is just getting the second feign death first.

Arm4g3dd0nX You probably have enough to start messing around with it. The second feign death is fairly important (2 mana summon a 4/4, a random 2-drop and steal a minion is pretty crazy) but everything else looks to be in place. I wouldn't really cram that many expensive cards into the deck either, just a few key big dudes and then mostly really solid 3-5s. An old version of the deck ran both sky golems and lions but the current on just uses the lions and seems to work a lot better, consistency in the early game is more important than a massive late game especially when your hero power is that useless early on.

Julie Lindon the drawback isn't a setback, but a free chicken. losing cards from your deck is nearly always irrelevant, becuase fatigue is extremely rare in arena, but a free chicken is worth 1 stat off a 3/3, which is ok in arena. and of course, if you draw a spell, the card is amazing

I really don't understand trumps views on Fel Reaver. I understand that you dont technically lose the cards, since you never had them, but is the rare chance that your opponent doesnt have removal / small cards where Fel Reaver thrives worth it ?. Assuming it survives 3 turns and the opponent has small ish cards.(2,3,4) and coin u easily lose about 15 cards(Optimistic situation). Is it really possible to win a game after that?.

Ray Carter I had a game where my opponent had 2 spare parts and the coin, and wasted all of his stuff just to burn my deck.He burned my deck in two turns, and then died 2 turns after that. You play it when you're ready to kill your opponent in a few turns. Yes, it can backfire, but a lot of the time they can't stop the offense and you win (if you do it correctly). Also, in really crappy decks, this card can bail you out with this strategy. I remember a really crappy Warrior deck I had once where I played this recklessly on turn 5 and facelessed it on turn 6. Killed my opponent a few turns after that play.

agreed, but from what i've seen a lot of times trump plays it just to play on curve. That kind seems like a bad choice, wouldnt you say ? (Not saying i know, i'm just wondering)

Sometimes you have no other play than it on curve, and if you're playing it on an empty board that might be too much pressure already. You have to be quite manly to just play it on curve though. Often that is a mistake.

So on the rare occasions I play arena, I pretty consistently lose _at least_ 2 games per arena to mages, through either my own misplays or the mage having a better deck / just being better than me. Can someone tell me why I never face opponents like Trump's? I might be blowing things a little out of proportion here, but it feels like a lot of the time Trump's situations only happen to him because he's against fairly bad players. (Note, not at all saying I'm amazing at the game, I only play casually and for fun but I'm not horrible either.)

eh, Fel Reaver aint so bad. I mean i'm rank 23 and my highest arena run is 4 but it always seems like such a solid pick for me.

I think the Fel Reaver and the Experimenter are not ggod cards, at least not in that arena because Trump had a lot of quality cards that he doesnt really want to lose.

And there are some really quality cards in the middle of his deck which the experimenter helps him to get. This is simple probabalistic mathematics people! As long as he does not fatigue none of those cards have any effect on the game.

I fail to see how Arcane Intellect is a good card. It's basically spend 3 mana draw an extra card because it takes up a card slot itself (which doesn't sound good to me). Is it only for late game when you're starved for cards or something? I don't get it. I see the value in creatures like Loot Hoarder or Azure Drake because you actually get something else out of it. Having synergy with "play a spell" effect is much harder to combo so using Arcane Intellect feels like a bad play every time. Anyone explain? TLDR: Why is Arcane Intellect considered a good card?

feardisXx Well, you usually use it to cycle towards your better cards in the late game. As you already stated, you basically spend 3 mana to draw 2 cards in 1 turn. It can also be useful in mid-game when you emptied your hand and need to refill. So it's not really a good card like Yeti, which you should almost always pick, or Frostbolts, Fireballs etc., but it offers some utility.

feardisXx In the simplest terms I can put it, a major part of card games is card advantage, you want your cards to do more per card than your opponent's cards. for example, every time you play a snowchugga and your opponent kills it with frostbolt or shadow word pain or something along those lines, that is a 1 for 1, meaning you traded your one card for one of their cards. The reason arcane intellect is good is that it is always a 2 for 1, because you are always trading one card for two cards, if you can get into a position to cast all of them, then you will naturally be a card up on your opponent, and that can help you win games, because if we are consistently trading one card for one card back and forth with each other, and at some point in the game i draw two cards with an Arcane intellect, then I will be the one with a card left when the dust settles. Arcane intellect is much better in constructed than in arena though, because the other major part of card games is tempo, which is essentially how quickly you can play all of your cards, and you lose a lot of tempo with arcane intellect because you don't get to play the cards you draw right away and it costs you mana, but in any game where you do get to play all of your cards, then your arcane intellect will have put you up in card advantage, and that means it was great. Also, if you are playing some kind of deck that hinges on drawing specific cards for a combo, you would want your deck to be as small as possible so that you could draw your combo pieces as often as possible. Because we have to play with 30 card decks, Arcane intellect is useful because it helps you draw through your deck to the specific cards you are looking for, and does its best to "shrink" the overall size of your deck by simply cycling through it faster than your opponents can.
