Hey, question. At 2:48 Trump passes on a Crazed Alchemist and calls it not a very good 2-drop. But I see Kooky Chemist picked a lot, and it has the same ability as a 4-mana 4/4. Is Kooky Chemist not a very good 4-drop, or is it better somehow because it occupies a different mana slot or something?

In a way, yes. On turn 2, there likely aren't any minions on the board for Crazed Alchemist's battlecry to have an effect, so often it is just a 2 mana 2/2 (which is quite bad). By turn 4, it's more likely that you can get some value out of the battlecry, so Kooky Chemist is a better "drop" - i.e. it is generally better on curve. Additionally, a 4 mana 4/4 is typically better than a 2 mana 2/2. That being said, they are both good cards, since the battlecry will almost always be relevant at some point in the game. So even though Crazed Alchemist is bad on turn 2, it can create big tempo swings later in the game, making it better than (for example) a River Crocolisk, which is always just a 2/3.

It's only possibly a misplay. That would have left 2 1-1s on the board and any combination of clearing them with minions would be playing dangerously into swipe. The way he did it guarantees a minion would survive swipe+hero power and be able to contest a 2 drop.

nasteypenguin two one ones is not that powerful with the board he had. The opponent had opportunities to buff or anything. He missed so much damage to face and he had a siphon soul in hand I mean come on. I respect trying to play devils advocate but I'm pretty sure it was a misplay.

I've got a cool kind of deck that you may not have considered. It gives some love to Deathwing, who just got a new animation about 5 hours ago. The idea is that you play Deathwing and Lakkari Sacrifice in the deck, if you suspect your against a slower deck, keep sacrifice and wait on for Deathwing to open the portal and create value. Obviously modify the list to your liking, I prefer Kazakus handlock in Standard and that's what my list is. moat lurker is such an interesting card and i really like how it affects counter play but that's pretty much the reason i think it needs to just be better. maybe not constructed level but it should be like a 6 mana 4/4 or 5/4 so that it's not just strictly worse in every situation than ordinary hard removal cards. i like the idea of it being sort of on par with other expensive removal options. like vilespine slayer and big game hunter it has a downside to compensate for giving you both removal and an actual minion. but moat lurker's downside is way more serious than the other 2, the fact that it can be totally undone by specific cards or board situations makes it way riskier, while giving you less reward in terms of minion stats than the other 2, and for a higher mana cost. 5 mana seems a little too cheap but 3/3 for a 6-drop with this effect is way too low. it's a risky card because it can be countered or even backfire against you, but it doesn't encourage players to take calculated risks and actually make decisions because the minion you get is so bad at pushing for lethal. if it had 5 attack then it'd be a serious consideration to play moat lurker over siphon soul, because if moat lurker doesn't get killed it's basically doing the same thing as siphon soul while also beating down the opponent, for 5 damage every turn.. make it like black knight basically, 4-drop stats but with a removal effect. this one is not specific in terms of targets, unlike BGH and black knight, but its deathrattle effect more than compensates for that. it'd be a solid card but could be a terrible play depending on what the opponent has, so you'd have to actually read your opponent's hand and deck to succeed with it, which is supposed to be the game's main source of counter play due to lacking instant interaction. i liked kazakus because it warns the opponent that you have a potion, and that you're going to pick whatever potion best fits the situation, so if you're even slightly thoughtful you can effectively play around big board clears, polymorph effects, mass summoning, etc. in a way that you can't against normal cards. but in order for that counter play to be meaningful there also need to be cards like moat lurker, with super powerful effects but which can be severely punished by certain other effects. that way you have not only something to play around, but an actual means of "playing around" it. if you think it's a "deal 4 damage to all minions" potion then moat lurker is by default a worse play than if you think it's a "polymorph all minions" potion. there aren't a lot of cards like this which really dictate the outcome of a game based on whether you played into some reactive card. it gives you a chance to snowball but also gives the opponent a chance to blow you out in one turn and make up for getting rolled over the whole midgame. the problem is just that it's so weak and inefficient for its cost, so the fact that it's a creative, well-designed mechanic which improves counter play opportunities just gets lost in the midst of more balanced removal cards, both in constructed and in arena.
