It just shouldnt be the case hunterrace is able to be relegated from GM in this way. The game is so insanely rng right now with it basically based on digging for card generation. Hunterrace has been relegated but he's still just one of the best Grandmasters there is but he has had no luck at all this season. He just shouldnt be in this position it makes no sense. Middle of the pack players are just rewarded for being in that level and requalifying if the current meta of luck based card generation stays the same will be so tough.

The worse player wins. Hearthstone in a nutshell. Nothing against Zhym but this series was so RNG-based that I can't help but feel he didn't really deserve it. Hunterace despite playing correctly and smartly still loses due to RNG. Warlock draws into 0 mana alex, then draws into 1/11 chance soulfire to activate. Then draws into 0 mana malygos for lethal. Both alex and malygos are probably the 2 most important 0 mana draw in the warlock vs rogue matchup which he ended up drawing both for 0 mana. If he hadn't topdecked into 2nd dark skies on turn 6 he probably would have to soulfire, which would've most likely cost him too much loss in value. In my opinion, the current meta doesn't like to reward players for playing smartly. More often then not, the best line of play is simply to play the most tempo or most value (usually through card generation) and hope the opponent cannot answer. The days of smartly playing around the opponent are mostly gone. Good luck to both players, hopefully, Hunterace doesn't take the relegation too badly as he is a fantastic player who simply doesn't suit the current meta.

Such a shame to see Hunterace relegated. He didn't deserve it. This is totally unfair. The GM system needs changing. Way more matches need to be played in a season and relegation matches should be best out of 7 or something.

The Problem is the massive RNG in the game right now, which really makes skill less important. Im not saying Hearthstone is pure RNG or whatever, but classes like Priest (random Cards + Random Minons from Galakrond), Rouge (Random Lackeys that create other random cards), Mage (3x Puzzlebox + Reno in one Game…), Warlock (relies on good Plottwist / 0 Mana Cheat Hero Power Cards) really make skill less important right now.

@@Gleam206 it's less the RNG and more that the skill cap is low enough everyone is hitting it. Although higher skill will manifest eventually, it takes a lot of games for it to make a difference at this level. This is a problem for all card games, skill cap is just too low.

The problem is, theres too much RNG for how slow the game is. To get a real sample size they'd need 100+ regular season games and then maybe best of 7 for playoffs. Like baseball, but that would take too long and no one would watch most of the games. If HS wants to pretend to be an esport they need a mode that goes much much faster than the current animations allow, so people can get real reps in.

Not to mention demon hunter just lucking out card draws to allow for outcasting and skull luck. The meta right now is based around card generation and discounting high rolls. Neither of which can be controlled. Examples are zhyn top decking for dq Alex and somehow rolling into two big dragons and a malygos the turn after to just swing the game. Hunters galakrond in tog and kronx was also just the nuts. Issue for hunter was he was already looking strong that game whereas everyone else this season just seemed to luck out swing turns against him.

That said, it's not rng that kept eyebeams out of hunterace's deck. He made a poor build decision that make his DH on the backfoot throughout GM

Or maybe he's not at the same level he was when he won worlds? Don't sympathise with the past. If you bring a demon hunter without 2 Eye Beams against an opponent that has almost guaranteed a DH of his own, you're gonna have a really bad time.
