I like the old hearthstone cards and the early tournaments they had. Very fun to watch. I prefer the time when the cards in HS were not as ridiculous in terms of value. They went a little overboard in the later expansions.

Feels like if Krip had played his acidic ooze on the turn when Artosis had his 3/1 fiery war axe, he could've won.

I thought the same thing. Idk why he didn't play that. he would have reduced that damage and done additional damage or destroyed a creature in the process.

That is very true. But you cant blame Kripp. He is against a Warrior. He was saving it to destroy an Arcanite Reaper or something. He probably didnt think it was worth taking out a 3/1 weapon.

Out of the 5 matches, the winner was always the one going second. This clearly shows that there is just way too much advantage on the second player. * He gets the coin (which is too powerful for different reasons) * He gets an additional card (besides the coin) on his initial hand. * He gets to shuffle that additional card. (which makes it a lot likelier he will get useful cards to play on early game). * He gets to respond to anything the opponent plays. (with one of the many low-cots board cleaning cards) I understand that they needed to nerf first player advantage... but Blizzard clearly over-did it, and now second player advantage is huge.
@AriochGS
@AriochGS 10 жыл бұрын
they could have made the 2nd player for his/her 1st turn to have charged minion! no coin, just IF the 2nd player gets a 1 mana minion he can play it and be with charge! that would be better than all the advantages given now!

Statistics do not bear out your hypothesis. Statistically going first is still better and has a higher winrate, much like chess, other card games etc. Hearthstone has balanced the 1st vs 2nd better than most games like it, which is quite a feat tbh. Don't take my word for it tho, look up the stats and you'll see that I'm right. Anecdotal evidence like one BO5 isn't adequate to demonstrate your hypothesis that going 2nd is superior... Some decks like miracle rouge obviously do benefit many times

Why was there a guy tapping Artosis on the shoulder during the start of the matches? Like at 23:40 he doesn't do anything until tapped on shoulder.

im guessing that the guy tapping on his shoulder is talking to him before he taps to see if he can hear him, as the commentators are talking out loud through microphones about what cards the players have in their hands.

Its a TCG. That's just how it is sometimes. A lot of it comes down to deck construction. The players will typically put in only what they need for their combos and hope for the best after a few turns.

I just don't think Hearthstone should be a professional game, there's too much luck involved in the game mechanics
@karlmeisner99
@karlmeisner99 9 жыл бұрын
Dgames Of course of course, but it will never be evenly balanced, especially since so many of the game's mechanics, are built up around luck. In a game such as Warcraft 3 the things that involved luck were very low, and in starcraft, there were no things that involved luck. But in this game, there will always be someone who won because of luck

Nikolaj Toft Holm No, heathstone is special. Many cards are dependant on luck for the outcome, cards such as mad bomber, or arcane missiles. But yeah what I'm getting at is that card games will never be fair, some are just less so than others

I can't believe TB won't cast Hearthstone again! He said this one time he did it was "so terrible" that he wouldn't do it anymore, but I thought he was good. He makes intelligent conversation about the way the match is going, he's got that great SC2 announcer's voice that translates well into Hearthstone, and he gets really into the games, which is exactly what you want in a caster.
@DeeJayYZ013
@DeeJayYZ013 10 жыл бұрын
I agree that he didn't do badly, but people don't like him as he's pretty bad at HS, so people don't like him talking about the game. I don't blame them.
@sullgass
@sullgass 10 жыл бұрын
DeeJayYZ013 I've seen casters that are good at Hearthstone, but do a lousy job casting because they can present it well. Artosis is a prime example of that. He's pretty good at the game, but his casting on his King of the Hill series is sometimes laughable at how many plays he misses and people like Trump that are pretty good at analyzing all the plays have dull monotone voices for this kind of casting. TB isn't just good because he has a good voice or that he's familiar with Hearthstone, he's good because he cares about the game and when he feels excitement so does the audience. Besides that game Kripp played against Reckful where Reck missed lethal and TB didn't notice there weren't any glaring mistakes he made casting in this tournament.
@DeeJayYZ013
@DeeJayYZ013 10 жыл бұрын
sullgass Some people just would rather have a pro's opinion, I prefer Trump to TB, due to the fact of his calmer atmosphere of trump's stream. Where he evaluates all of the plays he can think of and where you have enough time to think of the play you would make in that situation vs. what Trump would do. I can see why people want TB to commantate though.
@shackman13
@shackman13 9 жыл бұрын
I like TBs voice and all but man his understanding of the game is pretty poor. He just seems to be too many steps behind the pros in terms of plays and always mentions plays that no one would ever make, almost just to fill airtime. Granted Artosis is the other end of the spectrum where he is so unengaging and uninteresting to listen to, but you can't expect to cast at this level of skill with TB's knowledge. I liked Kripp's casting at WC but I know he irritates lots of people, I guess it's just personal preference

I'm a little confused to as why krip would hit the minion in that situation at 20:34 because if he hit face with true silver he would have four health and ragnaros would have a 50% chance to hit face and 50% to hit the minion which would save him from consecrate. If rag hit face if the guy pulled consecrate he would die from minion and consecrate but if rag hit the minion then the other guy could clear the board with equality consecrate and even though he didn't know he had equality he should have expected it to some degree. What do you guys think

I like the game but you can't have a tournament on hearthstone there's just too much luck involved. a completely unskilled player could have won just by drawing into ideal cards
@alexhoeflich9445
@alexhoeflich9445 10 жыл бұрын
If people buy into it, then why not? Its like saying that you cant have Poker tournaments because the game is based on pseudo-RNG and prediction. Also, "unskilled" is a bit odd to use in this context. Skill in every game is relative to the game itself. "skill" in Hearthstone seems to be centered around intelligent construction of your deck and the general game knowledge from playing a lot at a high level.
@mickyh93
@mickyh93 10 жыл бұрын
Poker and hearthstone aren't exactly similar games. You can create a perfect shaman deck then go up against a mage and have it be completely useless solely because of a mages powerful spell cards. The card limit of 30 cards in a deck makes it hard to create a deck which can adapt in game. Each class needs to have the abilities of others as well like giving all classes healing and aoe abilities but obviously ones not as strong as the classes specialised at them. You need ways to counter things like flamestrike and consecration and fireball and mind control and shadow words etc etc or else it comes down to which class has the best game changer not which deck has been built the best.
@alexhoeflich9445
@alexhoeflich9445 10 жыл бұрын
So wouldn't that come down to the actual balance of the game rather than luck? You're arguing two different things right now, and neither of them are correct I feel. What you're arguing with your most recent post basically makes it out to where you feel that the ONLY way the game could be balanced is if every hero had the same access to each card as another. Then what would the point of heroes be? Each class currently DOES have access to Aoe. BUT EACH CLASS DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Shaman is primarily a buff deck while utilizing the overload mechanic to help them clear the board. They can give Windfury, +3's for days, +2 health, Heals, Taunts. and they also have access to Lightning storm and forked lightning as their dedicated AOE, and an idiotic amount of single target removal spells/battlecrys. Not to mention Hex. Compare that to the mage who is basically centered around spells (odd i know right?), they have board clear, single target removal, debuff, and a bit of mull. AND THAT'S IT. They have access to one, ONE, self buff minion you could play in any situation (mana wyrm) that realistically is a simple problem for any opponent with a brain to deal with. Not only is your argument one sided, its completely devoid of any knowledge of the game or how deck construction works. TCG's don't function like Starcraft or Chess. You don't cover for your decks limitations or weaknesses. You try to make your strengths greater. If you're running an aggro heavy deck, don't worry about taunt. If you're running an AOE mage deck, don't worry about buffing minions. Not all games should be chess. Don't treat things with disdain because you've had no success within the game itself.

+SpookeyClown He pulled a card that won him the game/turn from the top of the deck. In other words, he had nothing in his hand to deal with the situation and the card that he drew from the top of the deck saved him.

Cannot remove clickie box in upper left corner, wave/static noise in background, someone laughing/making noise that is NOT one of the competitors/announcers in background (maybe producer/recorder). I won't be watching any more of these.
