the opening phrase is the subject of endless discussions as to how it should be played, and played in so many different ways. To some extent it does set the mood I feel, certainly for the slow sections which I felt didn't sing quite as much - and the you are happier playing the fast sections. A work in progress - but maybe I am wrong, I'm only a failed concert pianist.

This performance is extremely immersive, you can see that she was completely immersed in the music while playing, we who listened were also immersed along, the camera movements were also perfect, it perfectly matches the music, as well as the texture of the image and the changes in lighting, in some moments lighter and others darker, I don't know if it was intentional, however, it combined perfectly!

I like the 'more staccato and less pedal'. It makes it sound not as "lonely" as most people would consider this piece. She even started smiling at 5:55 which goes to show how in-tune she is with this piece... This is definitely one of my favorite pieces and Annique's performance of this piece is one of my favorites now.

Interesting start after the first 8 measures, avoiding the pedal. I love the piece, playing it myself since over a year. There are always new insights and new aspects. My teacher sees a mountain river flowing from the source and ending in cascades. I imagine the wake up in a dark forest, as in the film Avatar, flowers sparkeling, and each episode carries the story further to the end. You play the fast passages fast ))). A convincing interpretation.
@kierenmalhi695810 ай бұрын
I looked at the score and didn't actually realise until now, but that's how it's written. There's a tiny bit of pedal in bar 8 and then no pedal until bar 32. Which is exactly how she's played it. But I hadn't realised that until now. I have listened to many recordings but never heard it played like this. It makes it sound more heartfelt when the pedal does come back in!

Astounding performance! So much joy and fervour. Loved the emphasis on the staccato in the Moderato starting at 0:47 which I've never really heard that in recordings that I can recall and then the use of pedal on the return of the theme at 7:35 was great. You brought out the melody so well keeping it without pedal while changing fingers on the held notes. The middle voicing in the right hand in 6:45 is so good! There's so many other really interesting artistic choices you executed so well, really a remarkable performance.

Probably this comment wont be seen by anyone but I just want to share my feelings. Around 30mins ago I played somethings that my family will like. Some pieces from turkish culture. And they were easy I mean it wasn't hard to play them. But I practiced them a lot for not playing wrong. At the end I played a lot wrong notes even though they say they didn't notice anything. And then they asked me to play something I like to play. And I played agape from yuri on ice which means a lot to me. But I couldn't play it as good as I want. However I am trying to give people "agape" feeling for long time. I am practicing that piece for over 2 years. Trying to give the exact feeling I want. Then my mom asked me that why I don't play somethings classical to them even though I want to be a classical pianist. So they wanted me to play somethings that I am working on nowadays. Because of Annique Göttler's playing, i dreamed of being a pianist like her. So on the 25th of July I started to learn Liebestraum no.3 , Ballade no.1 and etude op.10 no.3 by Chopin. Because her playing effected me so much. I played the op.10 no.3 until a level I can play. Means the good melody is ending and different melody is starting. And did play the parts I learned in ballade no.1 which means the first part until 2:36 at this video. And the beautiful melody at 5:03. And then started to play the coda part bcz I was working on it for 1.5 months. I started to learn the ballade from coda. Anyway but I failed. Couldn't play it well. Then I said anyway and started to play liebestraum no.3. And failed again then said "can I play them to you guys when I learned them?" But then started to crying. Bcz piano is the only thing I trust myself about it. I am not as good as I want about everything. I am playing piano for 5-6 years now. And the feeling that you fail on something that you gave everything to it, feels like all of that 6 years for nothing. I cant be like Annique. This is my last year of highschool means my exam year. I cant practice as much as I can't. And there are lots of piano players at my age who can play the pieces I am practicing so well. When I watch Annique's perfect playing. I can see the effort she put into it for showing this performance. I cant even I want. But I don't want to quit. I want to give everything to piano and grow, be better. Piano is my everything. I hope I achieve some of my goals and have great achievements like Annique Gottler. And if you read this comment, thank you for spending your time. I was just crying and watching her playing as always. Just wanted to share my feelings.
