How I see the Rebel Baron and Doomguy meeting. I can see it now, Doomguy getting surrounded by a massive horde of demons wondering how he's going to kill all the demons around him so that he can continue to kill more. Then all of a sudden, the rebel Baron comes charging in and then proceeds to start killing all the demons. Doomguy uses this moment of confusion to start gaining ground and kill the surrounding demons. After enough of the demons are killed, doomguy is about to kill the Rebel Baron when he notices that the Baron is using huge guns and wearing makeshift armor, which really confuses Doomguy, which prompts him to wait for the baron out of interest and confusion. Once the Baron finishes killing all the demons, he and Doomguy lock eyes. There he was, the legendary Doomguy. The Baron had heard of all the things about him and was honestly nervous about him, even scared of him. Finally after a few moments of silence and staring at each other from a distance the Baron gives a gesture to Doomguy saying, "Come on, let's keep moving." Doomguy's confusion now at an all-time high just gives up and says to himself, "Fuck it, I'll go along with it." And the two eventually became best demon killing buddies.

@@SandorBundaMusic He might make an exception. The baron does see that there is another option than to continue to punish and terrorize humans. He wants change. He may even want to SAVE the humans. As the name suggests, he does have a heart. He uses his nature to his advantage, and may save through fighting when the time comes. I would love a reference to this in the new doom.

I read the lore behind this mod and I gotta say it's pretty unique compared to other lores of other Doom mods.

What is it?

It's pretty much tells the tale of a really powerful (but nameless, probably the mod author's decision for a bit more immersion for the player) Baron of Hell who was sealed away by the current masters of Hell (the Spider Masterminds), who are also responsible for weakening the Icon of Sin (which would explain how a few rockets from Doomguy can kill the damn thing). He breaks out of the seal and fights Hell not for the same reason Doomguy (or other Doom Mod Protagonists) has, but because he feels as though said dimension has gone weak and frail over the millennia. The Baron is essentially that one character that is very stubborn to old traditional ways rather than try out new methods (as the lore states that he is wary, at least, or hostile, at most, towards cybernetics such as the rocket launcher in this mod or to the Arachnotrons and Spider Masterminds of vanilla Doom), preferring hellish magic for his main methods of ranged attacks.

Damn, Guncaster...that's a good mod right there. I've always insisted that Guncaster is practically a full-size retail-price-worthy game. So many bells, whistles, and such a fun, enjoyable experience with plenty of gameplay and variety. A bit on the OP side, but nothing some monster randomizers couldn't fix.

@@infinitypilot Still broken though. With the recent updates, it's just basically became a "Clean" and non-shitpost version of Russian Overkill. (I know same author) With the inclusion of the Power Armor you might as well be using the IDDQD cheat. It's good fun, but you'd be bored with it. Just good for short bursts of playing, I don't see myself playing it for one wad worth of stages. I prefer Trailblazer, (also by the same author) for longplays.

For those of you looking for a cool little experience. Use th doom incarnate mod with the kriegsland enemies pack on the sunder map set. Trust me, its awesome.

Yohoho, Doom Incarnate + Kriegsland was great! The mapset I played it on was Hellbound, which were these urban/techbase maps that occasionally contained arcane hellish imagery. Combined that with the enigmatic demon corpses that you'd sometime find, and it actually felt like I was going into places I wasn't supposed to. Like I was unveiling this dark sinister conspiracy the Nazis had to open the gates to some evil netherworld.

Love this mod, especially when you max out your magic, summon two Baron clones and watch everything explode. Including yourself if you are also in the thick of it and they start raining down hell while you yourself are dping the same, but with an upgraded version.

Another thing I would add, is that this is one of those mods that needs a mapset made specifically for it. Vanilla Doom 1 and 2, and most other mapsets seem to be too enclosed to allow you to use the Barons abilities to their full extent. It's still huge fun though

Playing the mod? Make sure to bind the Reload and Zoom keys. They, in combo with primary and secondary fire, allow to select spells. Also bind the baron vision key which rocks. Pays to click and read the Weapons Spoiler block on the mod's download page. Really like this one as it is cool and also requires some learning to play properly. As usual thx to Icarus for testing out all these mods for us sinners! P.S.: Don't get daunted by the download being a .zip. Do not unpack it. Just plug it into your gzdoom as you would any other old .wad or .pk3. The program can handle it.
