The way Tao's mum had me emotional though because, as a trans person, I wasn't expecting her to act the way she did. She was genuinely excited to see Elle, calling her by her pronouns, and that was great. But then she made the "keep the door open" comment and I cried because...it's one thing to use the right names and pronouns, but it's truly another to really see and treat someone as the gender they are, and Tao's mum clearly does that here. She treated Elle the same way she would have treated a cis-girl, she saw that something romantic could happen between Elle and her straight son and made that comment and I'm...very emotional over it. It was such a meaningful moment for me.

Yeah but Aled said he took the comment back. He wasn’t really sure that it was Tao who accidentally outed Charlie. it just a guess. It might have been Tao, but it could have been Aled, or Elle or somebody who over heard Charlie talking about himself. In the end it didn’t matter how it happened. It just happened, and Charlie was terribly harassed and bullied.

I’m really just on the Tao defense today. I hate when people act like he’s the worst person. He’s young and emotional. He’s not perfect but no one in this show is. Tao is a great friend he just needs to learn some limits and boundaries. But I think anyone would be lucky to have a friend like Tao who would defend and protect you no matter what

I personally think Tao may be on the autism spectrum. I myself am and I see myself in him. He's got a special interest with movies, he's blunt, he dont have a full grasp on social norms and consequences. He also has really exaggerated and expressive facial expressions. Also with autism one thing I noticed is a that autistic people are usually accepting of others because we don't understand what about them is supposed to be "wrong".

Giggled at Tori’s supportive older sister teasing. Heart swelled when Charlie told his dad “Nick’s going to be there. I’ll be fine.”. Melted when Nick said “Char…”. Really wanted Nick to reply “I’m your dork”. Broke my heart when Charlie had to force himself to say Nick’s not even his type. Broke into even smaller pieces when Charlie so easily said he is “honestly used to it by now”. Felt so good when Charlie told B “You did”. The main gate scene, I hate the line “at least he knows his place” because I’ve heard it in real life and it is sucks. Was so sad Charlie didn’t say hi back probably because he is anxious and upset. Goosebumps and tears when Joe Locke delivered the line “Nick. You didn’t have to do that.” It was heart wrenching because all the pain and guilt is accumulating in Charlie. It does suck being the last to know and yeah, teenagers overreact, so do adults. It happens. Nick’s heavy breathing and mortified expression at what Charlie was going to say. Lastly, my anxiety kicked in overdrive with Charlie’s heavy breathing. Can’t wait for your reaction for the final episode ❤️

it was never Charlie's secret to tell, it was always Nick's, and with the exception of Isaac, Nick told all of the people he wanted to. Tao being antagonizing to Nick is 100% the reason he was the last to know.

And Tao was only like that to Nick because he genuinely believed Nick was just trying to mess with Charlie. If he had known that Nick genuinely had feelings for him and had been struggling with his sexuality, he would've seen he was wrong and support them

I think Tao needs to take a moment and look at himself and think why charlie didnt tell him. You want your best friend to tell you everything, but when Charlie told him about hanging out/being friends with Nick, Tao was anything but supportive. I understand why Charlie would be scared/worried to tell him about the dating

Yeah I’m the comic it was a bit different. It was not really the disapproving comments about Nick. It had to do with something else. The whole conflict between Tao and Harry never happened. And event on the next episode also didn’t happen.

I get both of their perspectives. Tao saw how ruthless the bullying was to Charlie by boys similar to the ones Nick would hang out with so then for Charlie to throw himself closer to those boys (joining the team) for Nick without even knowing if Nick would be interested in him of course Tao wouldn’t be supportive. Also, in a lot of experiences mine included, a lot of the sport boys are straight and sometimes homophobic. Simply Tao didn’t want Charlie to get picked on even more than he already was.

On one hand yes. But also from Tao’s perspective him being wary of Nick was his way of protecting Charlie since nicks friends were the people that bullied him. So yes, Tao could/should have been more supportive but also he had a valid reason for being a bit concerned. And also Tao values his relationships with his friends so while Charlie shouldn’t have to tell him everything, the fact that Tao was the last person to find out, Charlie wasn’t the one to tell him and all that stuff I can see why Tao would be upset. Especially since Tao has done his best to be caring and protective of Charlie and his feelings.

people need to keep in mind that Tao is a minor, he's like what? 14-15 years old? And kids that age sometimes don't realize what they're doing wrong. He has one thing in mind which is to not be left alone in the group and that means protecting Charlie in whatever means possible. He's impulsive, in his feels, and that's normal!

It makes sense why he would be acting this way... is all they are saying. Doesn't make it okay or right...but it makes sense. I agree I don't love the addition of Imogen...but that's what Alice wanted to do...so it's whatever. I don't like love triangles. But It was handled very quickly and Imogen backed off once Nick rejected her...that's all we can really ask for tbh.

This show is so helpful to me because I am like Charlie in the way of I blame myself for pretty much everything. All the time. I apologize over everything and my boyfriend just asks me why I'm apologizing when I do and I don't even know how to respond because the only answer that comes to mind is "everything" Seeing how it actually is, what it feels like, and other people's reactions to Charlie being that way is making me feel calmer and it helps me take a step back and try to rationalize if I actually did something wrong. I already related to Charlie before, with his awkwardness, his love for music, him being part of the lgbt community- but just seeing him in the last two episodes helped me so much and I genuinely am so thankful this show exists.

i think it’s really interesting that in the very first volume, nick actually has good friends who notice that he likes charlie before he even does! and they are okay with it (albeit a little confused about his sexuality), treat charlie pretty nicely and they wonder how to make nick comfortable with telling them. and in the show, in the background of the rugby boys scenes, you can see some actors who look like christian, sai and omar (nick’s good friends), so i’m wondering if the plan is for them to actually include that little plot in the story! they show up later on in the other volumes so I’m hopeful that they’ll make an appearance in the next season

no bc when Tao said it was all Charlies fault, I absolutely BROKE- Because Charlie never actually told anyone, it’s either they just guessed or Nick told them. And in the comics as well, Aled told Charlie that Tao might have been the one who outed him (accidentally) but he wasn’t sure and Charlie was just scared for Nick if he got outed while he wasn’t ready aswell. And I’m sure Charlie wanted to tell Tao at the right time, like once Tao learns to accept Nick and that’s also part of why it took him so long- But I understand Tao here aswell, I just see myself in Charlie more so I tend to like- yeah

I think Charlie being like that is the result of how terrible the impact of bullying for him. I too can relate to him as the victim of bullying for many years. Bullying can make us question our worth, our place in the society. It'll make you feel worthless, feel like everyone is better off without us. So Charlie's action is completely realistic for me as a survivor of abuse and bullying.

I truly believe that this show came when it was needed the most. Representation for the LGBTQIA+ community is soooo important Currently at my school there are parents who put together a petition against the school library to ban two LGBTQ+ books. One is in the elementary/middle library and one is supposedly in the high school library but it’s actually been missing since the fall. They almost have enough signatures and I am terrified for the precedent that this can create that parents will have the power to ban other books that are so beneficial for thousands of students. Luckily there is an “anti petition” petition that also almost has enough signatures. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

The thing that hurts me so much is that when Tao is lashing out at Charlie, he tells him that it's "all your fault" which is exactly what Charlie feels like about pretty much anything anyway and I get that Tao's angry and why, and that's ok, but it's just this thing, right? The terrible thing about having a close friend be that angry at you is that they know where to hit you where it hurts. And it's not like Charlie has actually done anything wrong.

Glad my bestie realized that at the end eventually but I was also sad she didn’t feel safe enough to tell me. I got over it of course & she’s still my bestfriend. Now she’s hung up over a guy alsksksk she’s always drawn to people that don’t feel the same way for her unfortunately.

I get why Elle told Tao BUT she could've just said "Talk to Charlie" that way charlie could've explained things and then Tao wouldn't be like he was the last half of the ep. I know that tao knows his friends know something but by making him go to Charlie then Elle isn't "betraying" Charlie's trust ... Not that she was really but kinda in a way Edit: Not to mention Tao hasn't been that open to talking about Nick up to this point so getting Tao to talk to Charlie, who at this point knows Nick better than Tao's perception of him would've been nice to see a conversation scene

You really think Tao would have just stopped asking Elle questions if she had deflected with “talk to Charlie”? I mean, anything she could have said that wasn’t an outright lie would have been basically confirming his direct question. There’s nothing really she could have done in that situation. And really, it’s on Charlie for delaying literally months on the subject, to the point where he put Elle into this situation to begin with.

this is a small detain, but i love how they fights in this show are realistic. Like they're not MMA fighters and the fighting skills went well with the characters. Obviously Nick is stronger than Harry an Harry got my bruises, and Tao never fights and the way he fought was accurate, even if it was funny lol.
