What I love about Jonathan Bailey appearing in the show is that he asked to be in it, rather than them reaching out to him. He loved season 1 a lot and feels it's a really important show that actively makes a difference to queer young people. He shares amutual friend with the executive producer so asked them to pass on the message that if he could do anything to help and be part of the story he was game. Alice couldn't find a part for him in season 2 (they didn't want to put Jonathan Bailey in just any part) but realised he was perfect for the part of Jack Maddox (who does exist in the comics) in season 3. Imagine writing a show so good someone like Jonathan Bailey *asks* to be in it.

The way I read Tara this episode is that because she’s someone whose high achieving and she’s gotten so much praise for it from the people in her life it’s become a big part of her identity in a way that’s become overwhelming for her. As people we’re our own worst critics and for Tara it might be that she feels like she has to keep up with being the best to continue achieving new things in order to not disappoint people even when it might not actually be what she wants.

So in the comics, after the argument Charlie self-harmed for the first time in a little while. That’s why the therapist mentioned self-harm relapse and part of why Charlie apologized and why Nick seemed so worried and why Tori was there. Tori called Nick when she caught Charlie self-harming.

I know SH is a very difficult subject to talk about, but this show handles it so subtly. You guys are one of the few reactors who actually seem to notice that. Congrats on that, and for keeping it light.

The way the show handled it is the first time I felt like I saw myself in that regard. I relate a LOT to Nick and Charlie's journeys in so many ways. I even saw myself in Tara too as a former gifted child. I feel so represented. This show is so close to my heart.

Geoff is the best representation of a therapist I've seen in media! He reminds me of the best therapist I've seen myself, and is the therapist I try to be. From my perspective as someone in the field, this season has the best, most hopeful, and respectful depiction of a mental health journey I've ever seen. I don't live in the UK, but from what I understand, the radio station sequence is sadly accurate, if not actually worse in reality. There is documented journalistic bias in its coverage of transgender rights. For instance, there is a policy of giving privileged coverage to "gender critical" (ie, transphobic) activists, and if there is a trans person on any program, there must be a balancing GC voice on the same program when GC bigots are allowed to speak alone without any dissenting trans voices. Headlines are framed with transphobic assumptions baked in, when actual facts (SOMETIMES, but rarely included in the articles) actually dispute the headline. For instance, a headline might suggest "concern" over the danger that trans women pose to cis women in gendered spaces when in reality, trans women statistically experience much more violence in such spaces. Anyway, I could rant about this for ages, but suffice it to say, the UK earns its reputation as being "TERF Island" when it comes to media bias. Wonderful reaction as always you two!

Your support for Elle is so heartwarming 😭 that interview was disgusting! I happened upon a conversation like that once when someone said “I don’t agree with that” and the only thing I said was “who even asked you?” The shock was hilarious (yes, shocking that people don’t need your permission to exist), but I really don’t get how people can be SO entitled that they literally think the have the right to an opinion about people’s *existence* 🤮

What pissed me off is that they made it sound ike they were talking about her art, but in reality they wanted to use her as ammo in culture war bullshit.

Drinking like this is pretty common in the UK I feel like. There's more of a drinking culture in general. I'm from Ireland originally, which also has a drinking culture, and what Charlie's parents have done here, gone away for a night and let him have a house party was not uncommon when I was a teen (32 now). My friend's mum knew she would likely drink whether she let her or not so she preferred that it happened in her house where it was safe. She didn't even go away for those parties actually. Just went upstairs to her bedroom and left us to it, haha. We even camped in her garden once like in this episode (though our tents were not as cute and aesthetic as in Heartsopper). Also, as a trans guy who saw where the radio interview was going as soon as trans was mentioned, I literally skipped it when watching the episode. This was my first time seeing it. It's just as bad as I imagined

Not sure if you guys caught it, but during Nick and Charlie’s argument, Nick grabs Charlie’s fork, and he also says “You’re not even trying,” which must have hurt. ☹️ Neither of them were at their best in that moment, but I’m glad they included it to show they’re not *always* perfect and gentle with each other. (Just like 99% of the time) Elle getting ambushed in that radio interview was enraging. I was relieved she had her parents there fighting for her, but so disgusting to do to a literal child. Feels very realistic especially for the UK (transphobia island), though. Geoff is a great addition, I love his dynamic with Charlie. I also love Tara and wish she had more to do this season!

What i love about the radio station, was that the viewers got out of the bubble of safety by the positivity of the show and brought into the harshness of the "real world" and the contrast between the amazing bubble we have been in and that makes the transphobic interview seemingly all the more ridiculous to the viewers.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the special moments: Charlie’s birthday, Jonathan Bailey, Charlie and Nick talking about taking the next step, and Geoff being the best example of a therapist that actually cares and gives great advices. However I really did hate the interview scene and how they practically ambushed Elle who was practically still a child about topics that shouldn’t even need to be discussed as if it was the only important thing about her. I’d definitely sue them. It was really an emotional moment when Tara had a panic attack from feeling overwhelmed yet satisfying to see Charlie take Geoff’s technique use to help her. I honestly can say that I relate to Charlie’s body insecurity on a personal level, and sometimes it can be really hard to see yourself attractive when the real world likes to be so painfully judgmental and vain. 🧑🏻🦱🧑🏻🦰🧔🏻♂️🧑🏻👩🏾🦱👩🏿🦱🥳🥰😏😱😤😡🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💖💜💙

First I want to say I love y'all!!! Y'all crack me up. I am obsessed with this show I watch it all the time. I am glad y'all explained how watching this show makes you feel, because me too. I thought I was weird for feeling that way about a show. The cast is beautiful and really good at their jobs. Fun fact Kizzy is non binary masculine in real life. So I thought that was cool that we get to see a little bit of what it was like them in real life!! This is my favorite episodes of the whole series.

I looooooove JB and he did what one could with the material. But I was kinda disappointed with what they gave the character. Because Jack was so hyped up in this episode itself as "this great admirable historian", and then that wasnt showcased at all - Charlie asks a history question, Jack says "good question" but the actual answer was cut off; we didn't hear him say actually anything about queer history. Could they not write him an answer about queer history? He got reduced from "great historian" to "oh yeah he's hot". Which JB is, but Jack should be more than just hot.
@AudoPlay3 ай бұрын
I mean, he's just a bit cameo character. I think giving him any more presence than they did would've just distracted from the fact that he is not actually a proper character in this story.
