I had watched the series 3 times before I learned about ASWT this past January. One of their Heartstopper episodes popped up. So I had to investigate. I’ve been here ever since. I’ve watched these reactions more times than any 72 year old should admit to. Episodes 3,5, and 8 are my Go To episodes usually but I’ve seen all of them numerous times and I’m not done yet.

Kizzy who plays Darcy is trans, but it’s unclear if they are taking Darcy in that direction. They have definitely left it a possibility though. S2 will likely be a bit heavier, but likely not in ways you are expecting. And there is always queer joy throughout. The leaves allude to the comic.

But Kizzy said, at least for season 2, no cause they werent 100% confident with their identity yet. Should be interesting :) The names of the episodes don't spoil anything! :) Also as Charlie walked into the school notice the boy on the right who smirks at Charlie? He was one of Harry's idiots at the cinema and hangs out with Harry at that spot at the school gate. Remember this episode starts the day after the beach date and 3 days after Nick dropped the rugby ball and ran across to see Charlie in front of the whole school...so "Out" seems like an apt name! Neither Tara or Darcy are trans or nonbinary in the comics. Darcy just dresses more masculine and doesn't necessarily like wearing dresses... I wouldn't even say that Darcy is necessarily Butch. She just dresses slightly more masculinly than Tara does... The actor for Darcy is non-binary though and Alice said that she's willing to have Darcy be non-binary as well if it would make Kizzy more comfortable.... As far as we know Kizzy has not taken up Alice on this offer, though. We will just have to wait and see if any changes happen in season 2, I guess. Just know that it's absolutely not a thing in the comics. They're just a regular lesbian couple in the comics. 🤷‍♀️
