"We stop them doing it until they want to do it again". That is such a positive way to teach children, without pressuring them or causing resentment later in life. They teach them, they show them, but it doesn't look like they ever force them. Seems like a wonderful place to be.

yes, yes, yes! I just left a comment about this. these kids get so much valuable one on one play and attention from all the adults around them starting at such a young age and it's amazing to watch from a child psychology/development perspective. it just goes to show that when you give children an environment to thrive in, they become good people all on their own. 💖

Sophia JungleSparrow look up circus ole. It’s an artistic show that doesn’t have any animals (rarely) and the clowns are kinda creepy but they have talent and they’re a lot better than most clowns. There’s a lot of similar shows as well you can find that don’t participate in animal abuse and are more or less a form of art. The music, costumes, and tricks are all amazing. It’s sad that there are a lot of small town circuses that aren’t very good, but there are some cool ones out there as well

I do dance, acrobatics and circus arts (mostly aerial hoop/silks/trapeze, hand balancing and contortion) and I used to perform with a local circus whenever they were near enough and school wasn't in the way... usually a few weeks in a row during summer break and a few weekends during the year, when they performed in my home town or neighbouring towns. We did 'normal' family holidays too and I liked them as well, but if I had to choose, I would have chosen to live with my best friend (who was the granddaughter of the owner) and train and perform together. The fact that my parents didn't want to sell the house and buy a caravan to join the circus lead to some memorable meltdowns and very dramatic 'but you're literally ruining my whole life, Dad!' situations. Sadly, my parents don't have that big of a passion for performing, so while other kids were dreaming of living in a princess castle, I was dreaming of living in a small caravan, moving around all the time. The dad of the twins said it very well... to a kid, the big top is a giant playground. Doing dance and all kinds of acrobatics was and still is my favourite activity, so it never felt like work to me. Although the family had to give up the circus about 10 years ago, me and my family are still good friends with the whole circus family and the circus kid I wrote about is now the mother of two toddlers and still one of my best and definitely oldest friends. We plan to do an aerial workshop together when I'm ready... I'm currently 9 months pregnant with my first child (it's a girl and we'll call her Mila Sophie), but I totally want to continue dancing and doing acro/circus arts afterwards. The circus world has and always will have a very special place in my heart. You can leave the circus, but the circus never leaves you, they used to say... Now that I'm grown up, married and about to give birth to our first child, I can finally understand what they mean.

Where/how do you learn these skills? Especially if you are broke? 😂
@Tintenfischchen
@Tintenfischchen 3 жыл бұрын
@@nikkiboucher8972 There are schools and special coaches for contortion or aerial work. The latter will probably be more expensive though, so finding a school that teaches circus arts or just acrobatics (you need those basics anyway) is probably the cheaper option. Back in the day when I was young (sounds like I'm like 90 years old... I'm 28), there was no circus school near me, so I learned from the performers in the circus I was involved in and although I never did rhythmic gymnastics, I joined the gymnast's flexibility and strength training twice a week, because it was the most similar thing to contortion, which nobody really taught at the time. Today, circus schools do exist though and so do (mostly) self-trained circus artists...

if i were you id just start working on it, its never too late. the creator on here called noeli acoba started at 20-something and now works at cirque du souli despite not having much experience with any sort of gymnastics or anything and not being overly flexible. its never too late to start and if this is something you're still interested in, give it a go! i could talk to you more about how youd go about it and some suggestions i have, lmk if you do, but the biggest suggestion is strength training, practicing flexibility, and attending circus classes/aerial classes if youre able to. With strength training, id recommend calisthenics. it's about moving your body through space. and also make sure to go for *strength*, especially at the beginning, over building muscle if you want to progress quickly. there's videos online about the difference between strength training and muscle building, the biggest one just being do high intensity workouts. strength is super important to all aspects of circus, and especially with calisthenics it very easily would translate to hand balancing if you're also interested in that With flexibility, make sure to warm up before hand. id do a full body stretch as frequently as you can, and put emphasis on parts of flexibility you want to improve quicker. for example, i do a lot of hamstring stretches because they're very tight. as for attending circus classes, obviously its important if you want to do circus/aerials, but if you cant at the moment there's other ways to build the muscle and coordination before you manage to get to do the classes. noeli (who i mentioned earlier) has some workouts on her channel specifically for aerialists, and im sure you can find tons online. id also recommend doing anything you can related to circus if thats something you broadly are interested in. such as tumbling (be VERY CAREFUL if doing this at home, unless you're in the right space for it stick to the basics like handstands and cartwheels), hand balancing, juggling (there's tutorials online, as well as tutortials for DIY juggling beanbags if you're interested in that), pole dancing (an uncommon apparatus i think (?), but it's been used in cirque du soli shows and translates really well to the chinese pole) Also, if you have the option, I'd recommend trying out a general aerials class that lets you try a bunch of aerial apparatuses. for example, i love the solo trapeze, lyra makes me want to die. hope this helps you and anyone else who read it!

Every other comment is somebody crying dog abuse... seriously? Use your brains people. Those were guard dogs. They were barking at the camera crew so they were obviously in the kennel for the duration of the filming and likely when there's visitors. All the other dogs were roaming around. Stop crying animal abuse when there is none and there are actual, more concerning things going on elsewhere. Moving along... 🤦🏻‍♀️

I attended ballroom dance lessons with husband and wife instructors who had taught dance for 60+ years. He died and his Celebration of Life was a huge big band ballroom dance -- which I attended. There were 500 people there and out of that there were 160 people (80 couples) who met in his dance lessons. He was a huge matchmaker. It was the coolest Celebration of Life EVER!!!!! What is more, until he passed, we assumed she was in her mid 50's but then we learned they just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and both or them had been married prior to their marriage. She stepped every step of every class -- and was teaching 22 hours a week at age 83.

The reason working in the circus is so awesome is because you’re free to choose what you want, whether it’s industrial, art form, etc, it’s a welcoming community because it can be harsh so they help each other out, you’re always doing something, in a caravan on the road, and you get paid The whole thing looks like a travelling tight nit neighbourhood and I wanna join :(

I've been an arialist for 2.5 years now. I practice at the trampoline park I work at, about a week ago we reopened but just before that we found out that I got corona... So despite literaly being 1 mile away from an open building where my silks lay in wait, I have had to stay at home so I don't get others sick. It has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Those silks are one of the most important things in my life and in less than 1 month I'm going to be moving to Germany (where I don't know if I'll find a place to do silks). But my doctor has said that this Monday (in 4 days) I can start going places again! I am going to practice silks multiple hours every day until I move. Now to mention, for the last 2 years one of the mot important things for me was I wanted one of my school teacher to go with me to see my "preformance". He has been my JROTC intructor for the last 2 years but has been there for me for 4. I will have exactly 9 days to work on conditioning and flexablity before he gets to see what I love so much.
