My ex had paranoid schitzophrenic, he was lucky to find a good combination of medication, lived a great life, was a mentor for the mentally ill. They ended up naming a building after him, at the state hospital. He worked there for 25 years.

My brother has schizophrenia and Anosignosia. He can't reflect on his behaviors and can't see that he needs medication and has a serious mental illness. After multiple public disturbance arrests he continues to suffer and remains detached and unaware of his psychotic schizophrenic episodes. It's heartbreaking when a precious loved one will not accept treatment. 💔

@@mcawesomest1 I have a paranoid schizoaffective disorder depressive type. Very late diagnosis and my mother has always shown signs of bipolar but refuses to go to the doc. She’s old school and doesn’t believe in such things. Even if they put her on meds she won’t take them. She refuses to take tablets as she says for every one you take that’s a day of your life gone. Also very superstitious. I was 6 years old when I first had what I now know to be symptoms of schizophrenia. I was 44 when I got diagnosed. Been in and out of psychiatric wards. Numerous therapies etc.

Please don’t judge the mum for smiling. It might be her coping mechanism. You gotta smile or you’ll cry. I have paranoid schizoaffective disorder depressive type. I’ve put my family and friends through hell. The fact she can still smile when recalling memories is lovely to see. Add to that two amazing parents. Yeah anyways. Be kind

I don’t want to lose him and I hope he can find the things he needs to help himself. Dealing with trauma on top of that can’t be easy Being in prison I believe made it so much worse for him

My mom passed away last year from mental illness. She was diagnosed with anxiety and schizophrenia when i was 17 and it came back 2022. I believe she was misdiagnosed. I had no idea what was happening and after several appts and psychiatrist and therapists no one said it may be something more. She hid so much fun new over the years, i found out after she passed. She would do these erratic movements and call my name but wouldn't say anything. It was like when i was young. Same symptoms. My uncle had schizophrenia but she never mentioned anything about herself. I know she had major childhood trauma and suppressed a lot... it will be a year this March since she has been gone. I thank God for getting me through but I'm still so sad. Thank you for sharing.

To those who remarked about the volume of the music, I thought of it as a representation of schizophrenia. I work with people with severe mental health issues and a couple of them have told me that they can’t think because the voices are too loud. We got a little experience of it by watching this video. It was hard to understand people because the music drowns out what I’d being said. Imagine living like that every day. So I appreciate the volume of the music. It let me experience just a little of what someone with schizophrenia lives with. Loved the family and the friend of Joe. Support is so important.

My grandad was paraniod schitzonphreic in one of his episodes he hit my nan over the head with a crowbar then killed himself by running a red light and hitting a truck. Took along time for my nan to recover . As an adult i have worked in physc hospitals and now have a greater understanding of mental illness .I believe im the only family member who does not see my grandad as a monster just a very sick man who lived in a time where the only help was the doc recommending a cup of hot tea to help calm him down. Thats exactly what the doctor told my nan when she called begging for help 1 hr before he tryed to crush her skull. 1967 UK

Very nice to hear that he has overcome his mental health difficulties. I'm honestly very happy for him and his family. However I don't think it's very moral to say that this is actually heartwarming when it's quite obvious that it's just a sales pitch for a story that might have a good impact on others who are not overcoming their own mental health issues. Maybe the volume of the background music is:- A. Maybe Jo composed and tries to be in control of a very painful, vulnerable exposition B. Maybe it mimics the flooding experiences that a schisophrenic patient feels unmedicated day in day out? "Transference".. All I'm saying is a big maybe. But mostly I wish to thank Jo for sharing- invaluabley helpful and educational❤

I would say all mental person that i have known including my children are all gifted people, but born with cells that gets damage along their development & as a result, suffer to life like everyone else. No fault of theirs, just need to educate families to recognise red flags especially between the ages of 14 to 25 & for society to accept we are all unique & special.❤

This is really good. The music is way too loud in the background and almost overpowers the testimonials. I had a wonderful wonderful friend that I lost recently who had schizophrenia. She was diagnosed at age I think 18. I'm devastated that she's not around anymore.

Thank God, living wellness schizophrenia. KZbin channel has shown the world that you can put this metabolic syndrome into remission by living a low carb lifestyle too. I’m surrounded by those who have been affected by mental health and happy to say that my daughter is in remission living her life prescription free

Yeah. At first I found it a bit odd too, but during the video I realized that’s just her ‘basic’ face. What a brave parents being able to share this story so strongly. Schizophrenia is a horrible disease.
