How to build your supply of Eggs and Chicken during times of shortages! When supply shortages exist some of the staple items such as fresh egg and chicken availability alternatives have to be explored.
Check out these incubators on Amazon here: www.amazon.com...
Today Annie shares our experience hatching out our own chicks this spring. We had mixed results between the two incubators we used, so we'll tell you guys what we think of the Farm Innovators model as well as the Nurture Right 360. Our little chicks are happy and thriving out our barn brooder now, and we're excited to introduce these home-grown additions to our flock!

I found two of the Farm Innovators with the egg turners included at our local feed store. They had set on their shelves for three or more years and I paid $129 for them. I was thrilled. I already had an old one that didn't have the egg turner so I had to turn the eggs by hand twice a day and it wasn't digital. I found I had to set the temp to 100.5 as well. I also kept a digital thermometer that also read humidity in the incubator as well. I put a container with a sponge in water in with the eggs when it was time to take out the turner and it kept my humidity at 80% for hatching.

I watched your other video and now seeing this one you have sold me on it. Ive done my research on both and both have their pros n cons. Ive raised chickens for 46 years and have hatched em for about 25. I had used a little giant kinda like the one you have. I cant even tell you how many chicks were hatched from that one incubator. But like ourselves when we get older things start breaking down lol. Well my old one had to be retired. I was interested in the nr360 because of the less handling but watching this video im sold on the ol Styrofoam inc once again. There have been a lot of upgrades that i like. Thank you for this. May God bless you and your family.

We had the innovators incubator and learned it was off as well. After 2 years of use the heater went haywire and started jumping and diving in temp. I was having to constantly babysit it and at one point it jumped to 104 and I chucked it. It fried all the eggs I had been babying in it and so I bought a used nurture 360 from a breeder. I love that its accurate and hands off. I was so disappointed that the farm innovators didn't even last 3 seasons before it died. I would love a brinsea but they are big bucks!

I'm glad to read this. Time and time again, I have had temperature troubles and I just ordered a nurture 360 from ebay as well. Actually to replace my second incubator in action lol it also had troubles. I want rock solid temps.

I just returned my Little Giant(same concept) & bought a Nuture Right 360. The LG jumped to 105 over night & fried 11 of 12 eggs. I had to babysit it cause the temp was off & never off by the same. I also am doing an experiment with a brooder heat plate & that's going good so far. Only on day 2 with the Nuture Right & hope it does well... I LOVE how hands off it is! (I am doing complete dry hatch with it & my brooder plate)

I appreciate your doing the comparision of incubators!! I have done a few hatching using incubators over the years.. This year I want to try doing turkey eggs. The incubator I bought during covid time worked great for 2 times but then quit working during the last time i was hatching. So I'm needing to get a new one for the turkey eggs and was glad to see the comparison. I'm definately going with the one you had very good hatch rate with. Thanks so much.

had a hen go broody 2 weeks ago! we only have 4 hens, 1 rooster so I have high hopes for 6 new chicks next week! She already had a standoff with a snake - and won!- so I am sure she will be a good mom!! Our incubator experiences in the past were not as successful as natures' way of hatching chicks...

I got the Nurture Right 360 and I love it. I think I’ve had a pretty good success rate. My first hatch resulted in 11 chicks out of 22 eggs, and for the second hatch, we only put 11 eggs in and had 5 hatch. It’s great for a smaller flock like I have, and it’s compact size and “set it and forget it” operation makes it very convenient. It’s very easy to clean, and I also like that it has a built-in candling light on top. The clear dome top lets you see all the way around the entire tray, so you can see everything when the little critters first start pecking their way out. 🐣

Well this was a whole lot of fluffy cuteness. Interesting results of hatch rates between the two incubators. I’m wondering what the odds are of more unfertilized eggs ending up in the one? Seems like you ended up with a good amount of fertilized eggs with those few roosters! I don’t have chickens yet, but we will one day and this is helpful as we make decisions about how that will come to be. Have a wonderful day on the farm!

Good info. Thanks for sharing. Curious.... did you crack open any of the unhatched eggs to see at what stage of development they died? How many clears did you have when you candled at day 10? Being they were hatching over a week's time, they should have all hatched within a day of each other, so wondering did you add eggs to replace clears?

Thanks for the update. I feel more confident now in the one my daughter has. Any helpful incite on picking the eggs that are likely to be pullets? Another channel tried a method that was supposed to work but never did an update that I ever could find. I think it was the more round eggs vs pointy eggs thing. Round being hens. Maybe you could try a few for a future video? I'm going to try it with some eggs from my daughter's hens.

I just purchased in April 2024, the Farm Innovation 4250 Pro, but it only holds 41 eggs. No big deal. This will be our 1st store bought incubator. Due to life changes, I won't be able to hang out every day and turn eggs myself. That is why I bought this one.

Im raising Delawares this year and from now on for meat birds too. We are over 7500 feet up in the Rocky Mountains and the typical broiler birds wouldnt survive till butchering age at this altitude. I am bummed because I did buy the Nurture Right incubator but thats because I need to do small scale. Our chickens have to be confined where we live with the amount of bear and mountain lion traffic we get daily and I couldnt fit so many chicks at a time in the brooder i have in the coop. We did not plan for a large galvanized brooder to be in the coop so our space is tight with it in there right now. My chicken math was way off and what we designed for 24 chickens I now have 42 😳 I really need to stay clear of Tractor Supply and Jax till the winter when chick days are done with 🤣😅 Im hoping the incubator works for me. My goal is to hatch out meat birds when we need them but I have to do it smaller scale. Can the other incubator have less eggs in it or does it only work if its completely full? So glad to hear you had good results! ❤

@@anniemcelroy2812 Thats reassuring, thank you 😊 You guys are so blessed with your space and farm and being able to do large scale so the incubator you narrowed it down to is probably what is best for ya'll. Thank you for this video nonetheless. It was nice to have a tested review and see what the outcomes were. Take care!!

I did a general search on YT for the Farm Innovators incubator and found this video! I'm so happy you liked the incubator! I just got mine yesterday and was looking for an actual user of it so I know if I need to boost the temp up. My local Amish store places a large order of chicks every year but this year the chicks won't be available until June! Soooo, my Amish store-owner friend canceled our orders and is supplying me with eggs that I'm going to hatch and we'll sell them at his store after we have ours hatched! I was going to wait to see how this unit worked before buying more incubators but you made me confident that it should work fairly well, so I just ordered 2 more! Question: How often did you have to add water after the first time, during the first 18 days, if at all?

secure the dog it most likely cant stop once this occurred...cement floored pen so wont dig out or bury chain link under the dog run, when chickens locked or you can keep watch on the dog then let him or her loose with one of those electric collar and the wire keeping him away from the chickens area...test before actually trusting it would work...just ideas...

Any test using eggs with a low fertility rate can not be accurate. Its rolling the dice you don't know what eggs are good. I know you are thinking there should have been a even number of good eggs and bad eggs as a percentage but that a guess at best.

@@donnabrown5037 keep the dog away from the chickens and the chickens away from the dog. Some dogs' hunting instincts are just too strong if they have not been de-sensitised through training (not cruelty and punishment!) rather reward and praise. Seems a bit extreme to "put the dog dog down." Your Grandson would never forgive you, if he loves the dog.
