Video was pretty good, yeah the music is kinda... eh. This helped me splice 3x 80ft sections of heat cord together to make 240ft. The mesh jacket was a pain but its working!

You were almost right with this tutorial. Only mistake was removing the bus wire from the semi-conductive jacket. You are suppose to strip the bus wire like a regular wire then krimp. Also, heat shrink should always be used to sleeve wires, never masking tape. Other then that, tutorial was good. Andrew Williams 309A Journeyman Electrician

I also thought he said masking tape, but what he's using is clearly not masking tape. I'm pretty sure he's using self sealing mastic tape. It's a waterproof tape. He also covers the whole splice with shrink tube. The combination of the two should stay waterproof. I agree with not stripping the bus wire the way he did. The sleeve from the butt splice should overlap the insulation. I just cut out a strip out of the middle the two wires so it looks like two regular insulated wires then strip each individual wire at end to expose the bare wire.

I had a cut heat tape (all three wires were cut not exposed like stripped but heat tape was cut in half) . Not my setup but if I had to guess I would go with crappy harbour freight stuff .So it was energized ( while it was cut in half stupid I know ) on a gfi and plunked into water and I saw a tiny short and of course gfi popped instantley. *** Did I fry this heat tape beond repair ? *** Didnt smell anything burnt would the thermostat have fried ? Appears to be what looks like a fuse link a foot away from the plug end about the size of a AA battery but its not no way to open it guess its the thermostat would I hv cooked that thing ? Important as the other end is frozen in ice while water is pissing everywhere else its not supposed to so I really that I really need to heat that up. Help appreciated important

The "girl" in that music sounds frisky. And was that hot melt glue showing on the last picture? Or was it some kind of grease?
