Here from Toronto Ontario Canada, I dont turn the heat on until after Halloween and the thermostat sits at 70F (21c) until May. I wear wool socks , comfy pants & big hoodie all the time and use a fleece blanket to sleep. I close all the vents in the basement and some on the main floor so it forces the hot air to go to the 2nd story/floor of the house. Plus I drink at least 4-6cups of coffee/tea a day since I work from home and that keeps me nice & warm.

I try to keep the vents in the basement open. I find keeping the main level floor warmer helps make everyone feel like it's warmer. I think it's because heat rises so having a warm floor makes the main level feel warmer even if it's not. I put foam board in the windows in the basement to help keep the heat in.

Lol most of it made sense except for the baking part. If you're going to run all that electricity to bake you might as well just run your furnace and stay warm that way it'll use the same amount of electricity besides the furnace does the whole house while baking only does the kitchen. I like to mix match I'll run kerosene in one room to stay warm furnace the rest of the night when in bed

If you're going to be cooking, you might as well use a fan to push the heat into other rooms. I should have expanded on that idea in this video. The other thing I should have talked about is our furnace runs on LP and our Stove is electric. So by using our stove, we save on the LP.

I stay in motion when im cold to raise my body temperature or eat or drink a warm meal or beverage so I don't try to warm up under a blanket

Staying warm is WAY easier than warming up once you're cold. I see so many people waiting until they're cold before they try to warm up and then complain about how they hate winter and the cold.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Putting warm potatoes in socks is actually a really good idea. It's better than the water bottle trick because you don't have to worry about it spilling and getting everything soaking wet.
