Thanks for watching! Here's that video we mentioned on what to do when you have heavy ice on your heat pump: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6G9oqOsdsSXpdk

thnx. Does a thermostat goes to the 2nd Stage of heat, and brings on the heat strips, if the 1st Stage is mal-functioning, for what ever reason? I am getting heat from my heat pump system, but the out door unit is not running, the thermostat is in the HEAT mode. The indoor unit is running all time, and not cycling off at all. Is that normal operation? I am concern that my electric bill will be real high now. Thnx.

I'm glade she pushed the question about the auxiliary coming on when it got down into the teens and that no notification would turn on when the auxiliary does come on when needed .

Thanks for this video. I had this same issue and it definitely caused my bill to double. As soon as i turn my heat on, it went straight to Aux Heat.

My heat won’t go above 66 so I had to switch to EM heat but it’s not automatic I had to do it and the real question is why is my brand new Trane not working correctly! I’m in GA as well!

Isnt Trane made in Georgia?
@KBradAdams
@KBradAdams 11 ай бұрын
@@ludwig6332 I believe they are made in several states. They have manufacturing facilities that assemble central air conditioners and heat pumps in Texas, New Jersey, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, and Missouri. Even more local, some of the compressors used in Trane A/C's are made in Sidney, Ohio! So far this year my heat pump has been working properly?

might want consider the costs of auxiliary costs The below table outlines the cost differences of normal heat pump use a=in 30 degrees F weather for one week versus one week of use in 10 degrees F weather with the emergency heat in use for 12 hours per day to keep up with demand. Cost Breakdown Normal Operation at 30 Degrees for 1 week Emergency Heat Operation at 10 Degrees for 1 week Watts per hour: 3000 watts 3000 watts + 15000 watts Hours use per day: 12 hours 24 hours + 12 hours Number of days: 7 days 7 days Total kWH: 252 kWH 252 kWH + 1260 kWH Cost per kWH: $0.13 $0.13 Total Cost per Week: $32.76 $196.56 As you can see, there is a severe increase in the cost of $163.80 per week when the emergency heat is in use in extremely cost weather.

thnx for ur info shared. Could you say why a heat pump is not giving any heat in the heat mode, but the indoor fan runs continually, and there is no heat. And the OUT DOOR unit does NOT start up at all, in either heat or cool mode. I got a problem. Can a defective thermostat be the caused for all these issues. The thermostat has 24v between the R and C terminals. That I did check, but do not know what else to do. Can you help?

I am messing with a 410A 2 ton , it was defaulting to AUX, in fair temperatures, -not freezing lately. My pressures were a little low indicating low Refrigerant, so topped off with some 410A in heat mode. Thats one cause. On my tenants -still not blowing warm air,, defaults to Aux. Still trying tofigure it out, it snowed last night soo heat pump may default to AUX for sure now.

My heat pump runs on auxiliary heat mode 24/7 but it's 11 degrees outside. My electric bill is so expensive to keep running this heat pump to heat my condo. How do I get my heat pump to run on heat mode but at the same time get good heat in the condo? Also, I don't get heat on the other side of my condo in my son's room. How do I get any kind of heat in my son's room with this heat pump?

2:03 I’m no expert but I believe when temperatures get to about 30 degrees or below the normal operation of the heat pump can’t occur (because of temps being so low) so the system automatically switches over to whatever auxiliary type heat you have in my case (probably yours also) living in Florida that is the electric heating strips that are inside my air handler, you can always tell whenever they first kick on because they give off that burn dusty smell. That way of heating is much less efficient (more expensive) and that is why most people up North have different type heating (gas furnaces).

hi...what is a "high pressure lockout"? And could a defective thermostat caused the defrost board to show this code. My heat pump board is currently showing this code. The OUTDOOR unit DOES NOT, start up at all, in heating or cooling. There is 24v on the R and C terminals. In the "emergency" mode, I am not getting enough heat. It only heats up to 72degrees only, and runs all night. And never shuts off. This is a RHEEM system. 6yrs old. I am really frustrated now, because i am having all these issues at the same time. I am thinking the thermostat is mal functioning, then I think its the defrost board. then i think the heat strips has issues. I am a wreck with these issues. The indoor unit runs fine, but NOTHING from the OUT DOOR UNIT. I just can't figure it out. Hope you or any other can assist me. thnx,

usually a high pressure cut off says too much refrigerant. Maybe it was recharged insummer months b/c not cool enough. however, the filters and condensor need to be clean,a little air restriction can cause heat transfer across inside and outside coils to NOT transfer heat -thus not working properly. Same code. Checkfilters first, gotta ck refrigerant pressures, bummer in cold weather.

well they all use 1200 to 1500 Watts - a fan helps. Also, the Democrats plan to dismantled our energy companies have caused prices to skyrocket.

Not to mention the 'run-a-way' spending Biden has done for no reasonable cause. This has caused Taxes to skyrocket -so we all pay for it with retilers raising prices hand over hand. Dont forget about the Taxes imposed on Diesel use, truckers, electrical companies, utilities, as Democrats and their buddy rinos, claim to stop climate change and take more of our tax dollars to pay for their fun at the same time. This wasnt inflation -this was an act of the White House -pay for a communist country Ukraine, but wont help a democracy country like Israel.

So you are telling me that I bought this Carrier unit and I won’t have hot air in the winter🤷🏻‍♀️? I had a older unit prior to this brand new one and the heat was coming out within 5 minutes hot to the point that I had to turn it back off. Is there to types, like heat pump is one thing and heater is another different thing?I really don’t understand 🤦🏻‍♀️

when it gets to cold for the heat pump, which is the unit outside. it will not have the ability to heat the house. when that happens the unit inside, goes to emergence heat. which works like a big space heater built into the unit inside to heat the house. my unit seems to switch automatic because it goes to emergence heat on its own. some may need to be manual switched to aux heat or emergency heat at the thermostat. the outside unit is very efficient at taking what little heat is outside and turning it into the heat that we enjoy , however when it gets to cold, there is not enough heat to gather from outside so it has to switch to emergency heat. this is if your unit only uses electric and not gas , also emergence heat uses 2 to 3 time more energy if its to cold to use the heat pump outside. if the thermostat switches to aux heat on its own its better to also manually switch it to emergence heat otherwise the unit outside will just run non stop using more energy and wear, then switch back asap when it gets a little wormer outside. Godspeed

You have failed to distinguish between auxilliary and EMERGENCY heat. As I understand it, aux heat comes on automatically, to work WITH the heat pump when it cannot supply enough heat, and emergency heat comes on when the heat pump malfunctions and completely shuts down. Also emergency heat must be turned on by the user, as it does not come on automatically. You know this, and should have mentioned it. I'm not in the business, just a normal homeowner.

yes, one MAY be automatic, one is manual. Later model T stats have automatic function. EM heat turns on 'elements' like your clothes dryer. Yes it's buzzing he current, but it should warm up your house fairly quickly, not like a dryer that runs for 45 minutes or more.
