I seen the north end in Winnipeg when I ended up living there when I was trying to save funds to go to Alberta & British Columbia and didn’t have enough lol . I grew up in similar neighborhoods in the east coast of Canada as a kid ,same poverty and abandonment & neglect. I literally had to move from my hometown to Start over to get away from crime ,getting in trouble I was definitely headed to jail many times .But I had to be there to help my mom who is mentally sick I was raised by my moms father because my parents were not responsible to look after me . Before I went to live with my grandparents I had some humbling experiences. When I walked and took a taxi in the north end it brought back memories of my childhood. Good & bad I definitely wasn’t judging I just could relate to the struggle I seen a few things that happened to my mom that did forever change me Having to share a fold out bed in a bachelor Apartmennt and her boyfriend beat her up so bad she was in hospital. I felt helpless because I was too small to help her and had to lay still while it was happening Neglect and abandonment were definitely tough And poverty but it builds a character and survival skills . I am not in The drugs & alcohol, lifestyle seen what it did to Family & friends .I definitely respect Winnipeg’s most and Jon c for trying to get out of the struggle and reach out to others who are living the same helping them .... Bringing light to topics especially in poverty mmiw ,mmip, abuse ......

Interesting to here his story. Nothing diff from when I roamed the North end. It's legendary. If you made it out you were one of the lucky or God was looking out for ya. I met all types and first nation's were some of my closest friends. I never seen the animosity/celebration tension there is now; of course the government didn't give them a chance to tell there story either. My first nation homies will always be close 2 mind.

I can relate to the woman s experience..my great grandma was made to cut her hair off as ND learn Spanish. She was a HUICHOL NATIVE FROM JALISCO MEXICO..... SHE MARRIED S SPANIARD . THOSE ARE MY maternal grandmama's parents. The elders,/ women on My mother's side had a lot of issues in general that I became aware of listening to the elder women talking gathered at my Mother's house when I was growing up. I had to hide a ND listen behind a hallway door..lol cause I was mot allowed to hear their conversations...

I defiantly feel the struggle native people go thru with police even as a white boy. If you grew up in the ghetto no matter what race if the police no your name slightly you will be fucked with. RCMP is the biggest gang in Canada

Rcmpig do not have any body to answer to there is no LERA type thing with them. They do need to be a city cop with no complaints for 5 years before min ...yes there are other qualifying things but if they pass that 5 years then they get put thru there tests ...and also if ever fired from due to force there done in canada as each province has the right to have the record ( this is why some files are put out to the mass) helps that gov side
