Welcome back to Dadskillz! About a year ago with energy prices looking like they were going to rise we invested in a heated airer, to try and cut the usage of the tumble dryer.
It’s turned out to be a great investment and we’ve learnt a few things along the way.

Hi Ive used one of these for years. Good to see so many others getting one. I have a family of 3 plus lots of uniforms, kit etc. Mine has always dryed my clothing after 2 days but I've never had a cover. Im hoping the cover gets us down to one. Not sure about the 6hrs but will test out the smart plug theory. Thank-you for sharing.

I have the larger heated airer from Lakeland. I load it exactly the same as you, with the smaller clothing on the bottom racks and the larger clothing above. I find when I spin dry my clothing in my washing machine at 1200 and load the clothing on the rack. After 8hrs drying, when I check my cotton t shirts, the armpits are still wet or damp. That’s the same for a lot of clothing, in certain parts of each clothing you will find it’s not fully dried. I exchanged mine 3 times when I bought it because some of the heated rods were not heating up like they should, with some heated rods lukewarm on the left and right side but hot in the middle, and some of the heated rods weren’t heating up at all. Having said that, one of the heated airers I exchanged, the heated rods were too hot, and I was worried it would cause a fire. I take great care to make sure I hang my clothes so heated air can circulate but to be effective I find I need to check on it midway, say, 4hrs and turn my cotton t shirts over so everything dries evenly for 6-8hrs. Overall it’s good because I have the tent cover as well but now I use a integrated heat pump dryer to dry my clothes, just under 50mins, and than use the Lakeland airer to dry my clothes fully with the tent cover off and it unplugged, allowing the air to dry it fully.

I have had one for over 14 years and tonight when switching off the on/ off switch button my nail penetrated the plastic button cover and the orange light has stopped working. Cannot test if it's just a light issue or fully packed in as still hot. I paid £100 back then now same one is £180!!! I do pop a cotton sheet over the top. The tent made my clothes sweat and smell of damp so sent that back

Thanks for the video. I’m going to get one on the Black Friday sale. It’s only £44.99 including the tent. I’m not too bothered about the cost of the tumble dryer for me it’s the cost of the gas and having to constantly have the radiators on to dry clothes that I cannot tumble dry which we have a lot of. I think this will be far cheaper than constantly wasting the the heating. Really good video, thanks a lot.

@@anthonywareing5244 I've tried various things to see what is most economical & I'm keeping a note each day of what I do so I can check it against electricity costs on those days. Best thing I've found is hang the washing out during the day on to the heated airer but don't switch it on. Then, if you have the cover, when it gets to nighttime, put this on & switch the airer on. In the morning all the washing is dry because it wasn't soaking when the heated airer was switched on, it was already partially dry from hanging out all day. That seems to work best so far but it's a lot of trial & error.

Thanks for the review. We have the same model, however we notice clothes are sometimes still wet after 12 hours. We also notice that clothes sometimes smell damp after drying especially if they’re touching each other. I do have a theory for this because we live in a small house so the room we use is much smaller and therefore more condensation. So I do think room size plays a factor in the drying time
@sasquatchrosefarts
@sasquatchrosefarts Жыл бұрын
You are putting moisture into your house. Which flows into either your attic or wall framing. Unless you open a window. Then you pay more to heat your house. And it may rot your wall framing . Not to mention a humid house is uncomfortable and can feel colder. I would consider putting this unit outside and check the time to dry. It's worth it even if it's slightly slower. You are heavily humidifying your house.

We have had the time version for about a month now and have been really disappointed. It doesnt seem to be meeting the expectations that were sold to us. It could be how we load it but a a family of 4 load is just too much for it to handle, even when left on over night. Again we may need to adapt how we use and load it but right now we're considering returning it.

I returned my Drysoon to lakeland last week as it failed to live up to expectations. We are using a Meaco dehumidifier on a normal drying rack and it removes WAY more moisture and can also be used as a bedroom dehumidifier as well as an air purifier in the summer. 5 year warranty as well! Just crunched some of my own numbers, I put a load on yesterday and set the timer for 6 hours, after 3 hours I added another load and reset the timer to 6 hours, before bed checked and some clothing was still damp, switched on for another 3 hours. This morning, most dry, couple not so a further hour. Total 13 hours. What did I learn, hang the first load but not put the airer on until 2nd load added. I could probably have got away with 8 hours if I hadn't added the extra load. In the tumble dryer (I have a Bosch Exxcel), I normally dry on the extra dry setting but would switch to cupboard dry. Probably will still tumble towels and bedding. Ha, I have your update on currently and just heard you say don't switch on until both loads on the airer.

I’ve found I can get up to two and a bit loads on my airier so that cuts drying compared to the tumble in half. But I do agree if you don’t keep your eye on it the benefits over the tumble can soon be reduced to nothing especially if you just leave it on like my wife did when we first got it ! 😂

Heat rises? So if I go to the top of a mountain it’s warmer than the bottom of a valley? In nature this isn’t true. But in artificial man made world, yes, heat rises. One of the many things than make us sick. You can make heating systems that keep heat down and cool above, because your head should stay cool and your feat warm, like nature, but of course, they’re very expensive. But I just love how people say these phrases without ever even thinking about it. That’s what children do 😂
