if you play Trent at RB, you need to sacrifice a midfielder or forward. Thats what Klopp did with a midfield 3 that werent blessed as attacking talents but could run and cover ground defensively Also player overhitting passes, taking bad touches, poor crosses, Kane missing that header. None of that is down to the system but the individuals

Hate to break it to you guys, but maybe these England players just simply aren’t as good as you think. Overhyping the wrong ballers and disregarding the right ones. But England football fans never cease to perpetuate this type of culture

I get what Alex is saying but he's giving Southgate an out that he doesn't deserve. Yes there are chemistry issues which could have been resolved by playing a more consistent squad between major tournaments, but a manager should be capable of implementing the right system, formations, and selecting the right team to perform at a high level. Southgate stumbled into a 3-4-1-2 because of an injury to Guehi and Trippier, and the team played better. How does the team play better with a lineup and formation that you lucked into? That's only possible if the manager is terrible.
