Piano hinges. Another inspired build. You are so good a presenting these BEEK subject videos.

Really nice video. I built my warming cabinet as a chest to hold honey buckets and not individual jars but seeing your video I'm going to turn mine on its end and steal some of your design ideas. I put casters on mine so that it was easy to move and I used flush hinges for the lid(door). Slightly more expensive but far easier to fit. I also mounted the temperature controller on the outside so that if the incandescent bulb fails I can tell due to the drop in temperature.

This would come in handy for living tiny...just think about toasty warm coat and socks 😊 ao many ideas for this.

Growing up we lived on an old farm that had a well pumphouse. The pump was above ground. In the cold north it would freeze up in the winter time even with insulation. My dad got a thermostat and put 100 W bulb out there that would come on and heat the interior. Good idea, same concept.

Thanks for sharing! I heard a similar story when discussing the design with my father in law.

Great job, I can see this project in my future. The only thing that will change for me is that I will use heat tape (a reptile product) instead of a light bulb that way the bottom area can be used for honey storage also. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Ed, I was looking for other options for heating but the bulb seemed to be the simplest solution. After I built it I did stumble across a mini heater I think they were using to warm a fermenting cabinet. Let me know how yours turns out with the heat tape!

@@BeeBoyBill Here's a link to the heat tape: www.reptilebasics.com/heat-tape , you can use the same controller and add 2 shelves to your build. I will definitely let you know how mine turns out. Thanks Again!

Nice build and cool idea 👍, I think it would be kind of fun to also wire in a door switch like a fridge so that the light also comes on any time the door opens.

Haha. I’ll keep that in mind for version 2! Thanks Max

I enjoy your build videos. Thanks for sharing. I think I would have used a router to remove most of the hinge pocket and only cleaned up the edges with a chisel. Finally, I did build a hive using this method. It turned out well, but is was a lot of pieces.

I imagine it was a ton of pieces. Thanks for the tip on the router, makes perfect sense now that I’ve heard it suggested. Thanks for watching Ted!

Another option would be to find an old refrigerator to use. It might even be free especially if it was broken. Back when I was working they were sometimes used to keep welding rod dry. Same light bulb but no controller.

Great idea John! Thanks for sharing.

I have used my small router to make the pocket for the hinges.
@BeeBoyBill3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a def upgrade over the chisel. Thanks Kent!

Use just an old refrigerator. Chip, fast

This looks great! Do you still have that parts list, by chance?

Awesome! I'm going to do this! Love your channel! Keep 'em coming! Couldn't you just use your router for the hinges?
@BeeBoyBill3 жыл бұрын
Thats an idea! I hadn't thought about using a router but it sounds way better than using the chisel. Thanks for the suggestion and the support!

I’ll keep that in mind Chief Hamza, I may be building some soon.
