I appreciate your efforts. It would be good to isolate one factor you want to test at a time. From this experiment I don't know what's more important: heat, stronger ultrasonic vibration or additional cleaning fluid (presumably all three make some difference). i.e., perhaps the smaller cleaner would work just as well if between each of the 6 runs you replenished with fresh, heated fluid.

Great point! Though, I was largely pitching the devices against themselves. You're right, I've had better results with the small one when I use heated fluid.

I wonder if you could just slowly heat your cleaning fluid in a pot on the stove then use it in the ultrasonic cleaner? Either way both methods seem to work great. What parts benefit the most from being ultrasonically cleaned do you think?

I've actually heated fluid before use on some ocassions while using the small device without heating. Ultrasonic cleaning is very good for removing varnish, rust, carbon, and gunk. For me I've used it for solenoids, iridium spark plugs (because wire brushing is advised against), etc. Injectors, carburetors are also good fits.
