Thank you so much for your instructional video. I successfully replaced the heater core on my 02 Nissan xterra lastnight. I couldn't have done it without you and other videos like this on KZbin . My mechanic told me this was gonna cost 800 to $1200. I got the heater core from Nissan wholesale direct for $260. My heat works like an oven now.

Glad I can help!

$260 is a bit pricey. You can get a Murray brand core from O'Reilly for $90 that fits. Nice work though!

awesome video! wish more were like this, straightforward, no B.S, good camera job, and great factory work-around! Just saved me a heap of time. Thanks!

Thanks a lot. Not only saved me a bunch of time as mentioned but also saved me a bunch of money

I bought a Frontier. Drained the radiator and engine block plush flushed the heater core twice, put it back together and barely had any heat. 3 years later I bought a $90 heater core and was about to spend my Saturday doing this job. Took it to a mechanic to have the a/c evacuated and he talked me into letting him do a flush instead. He did it for under a $100 and now its blowing REAL hot. Just going to return the core. Good video though. I was literally a day away from doing it myself.

Don't need to take the console out. Just move back shifter cover and take off HVAC/radio cover w the 2 center vents in it. Great vid. I'm a Tech and noticed I could take box out, and that's what led me to ur vid! Whole job under an hour. Watch out for drain when putting box in.

Wow, great video. I have a 2002 Crew Cab. Your video is just what I needed. I was not wanting to take the entire dash off. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.

Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this job, but on my 2001 Nissan Frontier, crew cab, it was much more difficult. Didn't require a bunch of tools, but I did have to remove passenger seat, center console/gear selector cover, front dash cover, glovebox, radio and other electrical disconnects along with the A/C lines. Highly recommend folks have a magnetic tray to collect the 6 different Screw Types, a magnetized wand/screw retriever, and taking snapshots along the way to remember which screw goes where AND in WHAT ORDER to re-assemble. Thanks again for the $AVING$$$ on your guidance

So my heating coil is leaking 2001 nissan frontier sc crew cab ! I need to removed everything ?
@aaelsawy8 жыл бұрын
They sell them on Amazon.. Search for Dorman 902-099 HVAC Heater Core Tube. I recommend you change the core too though. If you made it this far, might as well get a new core.

Thanks your video was very informative I just replaced my heater core on my xterra my self my mechanic wanted to charge 850 an claim a two day job I done it in a couple hours me an my brother

I flushed my radiator and engine block with my hose, refilled system with distilled water, ran until hot, and flushed that a couple times (it was real bad). Refilled with radiator fluid.... and I still have crappy heat. Going to flush heater core and if that doesn’t do it.. we’ll then I greatly appreciate this video

Stock radio is easy to remove and there is probably a KZbin video for that, though you don't have to disconnect its wires... Just get it out of the housing. There is a metal bar above the ac box that's very easy to remove...just two nuts. Will give you a bit more room to work.

he was talking about the A/C box. I did the work myself after watching the video and got what he meant. I didn't have an issue with freon on mine because the A/C has a leak in it and is already empty. lol

LOL... GREAT VID.. that is awesome I just replaced my heater tubes 01 xterra I put it all back together to find I should have just broke that tab off the bottom and replaced the core too. Oh man that is epic, great knowledge, thanks man!!
@aaelsawy8 жыл бұрын
If you haven't recharged the Freon back up yet, consider replacing the heater core. I know it's a pain. But well worth it for a 14 years old part that almost always fails. Thanks for leaving a comment!

Thanks! the tubes broke when the engine got hot, by passed for now and new engine, but this will help allot when I replace core.

Well I'm not sure, but it looks like they use the same parts. Good chance it will work. Good luck!
@adrianalbor55415 жыл бұрын
The reason why you're supposed to remove the whole dash it's so that that support at the end that you're talking about doesn't break because if it breaks there's a probable chance that because there's no support where the hoses go might break because of the vibration of the vehicle
@aaelsawy5 жыл бұрын
So did you remove the whole dash then?
@adrianalbor55415 жыл бұрын
LMAO hek no I loved your tutorial did it exactly how I saw you do it😁😎🏋️

This was a great help! Thanks so much... When you removed the heater core...did it just slide out? This is exactly how my 2000 Xterra is, but there seems to be a plastic tab on the bottom that prevents the core to just slide out. Any help would be appreciated!
@JayKillXRP4 жыл бұрын
You have to hacksaw the two ends of that tab and break it of to slide it out. I learned that from another yt video. Thank god for KZbin. Saved me a G.

Good video I didn't want to remove the whole dash either. Did you have to remove the metal bar by the a/c box. Also was radio an easy removal?
@franksutubes8 жыл бұрын
Do you have to disconnect the AC line in order for the ac box to be taken out ??? I'm gonna do it soon but need more info on that part. Everything else if pretty helpful the way you explain it.Thanks
@aaelsawy8 жыл бұрын
yup..no way around it! good luck and holler if you have more questions.

How did you get the plastic tubss off the end of the core? Im laying in the seat opposite of the way you sit in it and I was able to get all screws besides one off the top tube.
@aaelsawy7 жыл бұрын
John D. Hlad I don't remember exactly but I do remember that it was very difficult..had to apply pressure to a stubby with right hand and turn it with the left hand probably.
@z31rider247 жыл бұрын
Ayman Elsawy why do you have to disconnect freon tubes if ur replacing the Heater Core? or were you replacing AC condenser or both?
@aaelsawy7 жыл бұрын
Z31Rider you have to remove A/C cause the air handler is in the way. Can't get to heater core without removing that A/C box first unfortunately.

Thank you for making the video. What were the dimensions on the PVC you used as a bypass from the pictures you posted? Did it run fine like that?
@aaelsawy6 жыл бұрын
coryfin10 you're welcome. 1/2 in inside diameter, 5/8 outside diameter. I drove it twice with bypass. No issues. Remember to use proper adhesive not just any glue.

What was the problem ?? I have my nissan titan 05 with a passenger side getting wet when i open the A/C. I inspected the drain it was clear But still leaking.
@aaelsawy7 жыл бұрын
AircraftMechanic .Arts is it leaking water or coolant? If you're getting coolant in the floor, it's the heater core.
