Top ridge/cliff drop wasn't as tall as Corbet's Couloir drop in, but the actual landing and run is much steeper than Jackson Hole! Full Journey begins at 2:50 in the video!

Yeah I saw. Looks amazing with dry light snow versus the chunky stuff this was. I even took my snow tires off in March because they said no more snow lol. I had to sneak up to the mountain “ illegally” technically with super safe driving in my summer tires

I remember meadows closing with over 100 inches in may one year. I was bitter cause I had a season pass. Now I live in social, it makes me nostalgic.

A zone is really safe, Lower Heather has some no fall zones

And you have to watch out for the creek at the bottom, depending on where you are skiing.

I don't think you've seen anything as scary as Saudan Couloir. Whistler-Blackcomb has some scarier stuff, but Saudan has got to be one of the scariest. It doesn't require a drop in like this run, but once you're in, you're in. You can't bail, it's impossible to climb back out. The worst part is, you can't see the most difficult part until you've dropped in. If you make it past the difficult part, it has one of the steepest slopes I've ever skied.

I never said the actual slope was steep on this run. I’ve done steeper pitches. The part that make this scary for me was the drop that you have to commit too and then trying to control your speed after the insane acceleration. If there was no ridge drop and it was just the pitch only, I could’ve done this run with my hands in my pocket

@@TaylorPhase Wait for the ridge along Upper Elevator behind the top of Mt Hood Express to get cornices. Best place to practice big drops at Meadows. You can hit the drops at speed and the landing pitch is perfect even on corn days.

Soren, Saudan is right next to "The Couloir" on Whistler Peak, correct? I've ridden The Couloir during white-out conditions (not recommended). Technically, it's not super difficult, but as mentioned, it's all or nothing with those entries. Once you commit, you are riding it to the bottom. Very much a mental game.

That drop in gets you moving fast and all your resulting turns, unless buttery soft, is reeling your speed back under control. Better yet, traverse that bowl, climb Pea Gravel ridge and ride that area.

Heather Canyon is awesome and dangerous at the same time. Personally I’d only ski it when visibility is good. I can’t imagine skiing it in white out or flat light conditions.

It’s still decent on white out days if there’s soft fresh powder. I’d never do it with crusty snow though sunny or flat light

I’ve skied that it’s actually not that hard in the conditions I skied it cause it was corn which is easy to ski and since last year had barely any snow until april there wasn’t a drop in cause there wasn’t any new snow to create one

I literally cracked my skull at Heather Canyon. I got a traumatic brain injury from it too. My head hit an ice patch after wiping out. I healed up and went back the next season, after buying a helmet lol.

Heathers is crazy. Itll make you shite yourself. First half is nearly vertical. Ski patrol blasts the hills near daily. Its closed more often then not. Super dangerous stream at bottom many people fall into. BFE, I'm more a fan of Yodas wall. Road that before we were allowed 20 years ago.

Yup. Heathers is only worth it on soft powder. I’d probably never do it again with the bouncy conditions from this video
