As I got older, I started to realize how cool my mom was. I was 14 in 1984 and used to blare Death Church in my room with my friends. Most parents, that I knew, wouldn’t put up with the music we listened to, But my mom knew I loved it. So she didn’t squash it. She encouraged my art and music. Check out the Instigators if you haven’t heard them. They are on the bluurg label that was owned by Dick from the subhumans. Subhumans will always be one of my favorite bands. You might like Amebix too. They are a little heavier but also have cool artwork. Also, ZOUNDS! Holy shit! They are great too.

A street punk (Gutter Punk) back in 1981-1987 on the streets of Hollywood California, I got my hands on the EPs and Death Church, and managed to hang on to those records for many years (amazingly) I still know EVERY SINGLE WORD by heart, and can still sing them, even to myself, to this day (I'm 56 now) I still listen to every song through KZbin...

I'm 58 now and always been into peni ever since I heard the first ep some time way back in the 80s, loved the sound, the lyrics, and the artwork, you could never compare them to anyone else, the artwork, the sound and the lyrics were like nothing or no one else,was lucky enough to see em a few times back in the day, and have always said the inside of nick blinkos head would be a really interesting place to visit, still love this shit just as much as always 🤘🤘🤘

I bought a copy of their first record when I was still at school. I had just come out and I was just getting into Crass. To this very day, 40+ years later, no piece of music has had the impact that the first few seconds of that EP had on me. I loved them ever since.. Every note of Death Church is hard wired into me.. even if I never hear the album again I can recall it in it's entirety. Back in the day they were elusive though and only a lucky few got to see them live. I remember hearing about a gig in the Anarchist center in East London and spending hours trying to find the place with a friend. We never did. I actually phoned Grant once (you could do that back then) but ended up talking to his mum. Grant had just been diagnosed with stomach cancer (I think) and had gone missing and she was really worried about him she asked me to call her if I heard anything about him. I called her a couple of times for a chat. She was a nice lady.

I'm 50, and I bought and still have the original LPs of RP but on their respective vinyl 45's formats, and two copies of first original pressing of Death Church. I also saw fetching up to $500 bones about 20 years back. My band No Apparent Reason '84 covered some of RP's material back then and it's all trapped on tape currently. If there was just one band to re-unite due to some miracle that Nick could manage I would die a happy old school punk.

It was Cacophony. I bought it in 92. Years before Pope came out. He was institutionalized a long time after death church. I remember we talked about it when we were teenagers. Worshipping the band. After Cacophony he went in for treatment again. schizoaffective disorder. Read the primal screamer.

I hope they make more rudimentary peni albums after the "No More Pain" album. I thought RP was done then I felt a feeling and got off the bus to find Archaic by Rudimentary peni at the music shop down the road. A great day for me! Then we get no more pain.... I hope there's more.

Of all the bands on the crass label ,rudimentary peni didn’t sing about the typical anarchic anti establishment ,blinko sang about nightgaunts and ghouls ,ancient lost cities and dreamscapes he was completely unique ,Blinko was a lovecraft baby not your typical punk rocker

Some of this album is truly excellent but for the large part is an awful underdeveloped, depressing drone with pitiful attempt at singing and harmonies and preachy, captain obvious lyrics
@austonsmith5365 жыл бұрын
It's early 80s Brit Hardcore Punk. The not singing so good, preachy cringe lyrics sometimes, random bouts of mania, short choppy and erratic playing... All of these elements is actually why people enjoy this era of punk's evolution while most other areas within the music industry were overdosing on the dancey new wave synthesizer thing performing on tape loops and piles of cocaine and aids cocktails. This Death Church sound was much sought after.... there's a lot of squeaky clean singing bands, less BPM, overly produced regurgitated semen ... hearing Rudimentary Peni was a breath of fresh air, doing punk the way it's meant to be and not bending over for the Malcolm McLaren's of the industry. Give respect where respect is due.

Attitude is everything. What you feel like will show itself on the outside. And the older and more hopeless and poisoned people get it covers over and kills who we were when we were less damaged and more US. So people who stay young and passionate inside will stay looking young MUCH longer. Even people in their 70's or older who are badass people. They just look and move different. It's a beautiful thing to stay you. This world does everything it can to grind real people into vapor. Newest weapon.... DRUGS. So stay the fuck clear folks. No joke s:'(
