Hey Nick you finally did it!!! Listen to all the album (Deathchurch) which personally for me is certainly close to being the greatest album ever recorded by anyone. Another excellent band to listen to are "Flux of Pink Indians" and especially their track called "Tube Disasters".

@@DevonMike73 Great shout out that! For me personally I'd say "Deathchurch" would just about push "Strive to Survive" into 2nd place but by Fuck Flux were brilliant too. The band I was in nearly had a support slot with them once but the gig fell through sadly.

Rudimentary Peni were one of the more intriguing and original of the early to mid 80s UK punk crop. This is one of their more restrained songs, musically speaking. Their "Farce" e.p is their best release, IMHO.

OMG! Congratulations! You are (so far) the only reactor who has done Rudimentary Peni (you did pronounce it correctly). My favorite is the album "Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric". Nick Blinko (lead singer) did all of the artwork. He also had himself committed to an asylum and wrote a book about it. Some other never-before reviewed bands you might like are The Residents, Dayglo Abortions*, D.O.A.*, The Rezillos, KUKL, Savage Republic, 45 Grave, Christian Death w/ Rozz Williams, Turbonegro, The Germs, The Ex, X, The Dicks, and NegativLand. Bands with * are Canadian.

Sup dude big fan of the band myself ,it states he was involuntarily put in that mental house, also the book isn't based of that specific incident it's a semi autobiography written by blinko,(yea I purchased that book ) "The Day The Country Died" is also a great read!

@@BEEENGONE Thank you for the correction. I wasn't quite sure about the terms of his confinement, but I didn't want to rely on Wiki for my statements.

hahahah seeing someone respond to RP for the first time is a tremendous joy to watch

The secret sauce of RP is how much of a Studio Band they were. Their album Cacophony (which is a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft) is a real bonkers listen, wtih Blinko at his most theatrical. Check out "American Anglophile in the World Turned Upside-Down" or "Gentlemen Prefer Blood."

Yes, absolutely nailed it! I’m an old Peni fan since the early 80’s when I first heard the song “Teenage Time Killer” off their very first 7” EP. They blew me away back then, and I still get a rush listening to them today, as a 57 year old. Anyway, I couldn’t agree more about Cacophony. That one’s definitely my favorite, though I’ll admit that at the time when it came out in the late 80’s I was disappointed… if you can imagine that. It took a few years for it to grow on me and get its hooks into me… and once it did it never let up. Cacophony is just a masterpiece, and a big reason why is because of something you already pointed out. They’re a studio band. That’s where they thrive. It stands to reason, as they made a conscious decision not to continue playing live gigs pretty early on in their existence. I always kind of equate it with (hear me out on this…) Brian Wilson’s ethic, or XTC. I know, _totally_ different kinds of music, but the same basic method of being a studio-only phenomenon… and nowhere does that shine brighter than on Cacophony. All the crazy little sound bytes and layered tracks… it’s just a feast for the senses. Kind of like a punk version of Trout Mask Replica or SMiLE.

The album Death Church was incredible in terms of overall sound and production. For a band coming out of the anarcho punk scene this was polished but still raw. Their second album Cacophony is well worth listening but not as immediately accessible

What's awesome is all their records are being reissued. I have the Death Church & Cacophony reissues on Sealed Records & they're both very well done....even the artwork is reproduced perfectly.
