You know, it just occurred to me that Heathers must be set in Washington or Oregon for it to be theoretically possible to ride up to Seattle on a motorbike. This makes Veronica’s desire in the intro to go to “Harvard, Duke, or Brown.” even more rooted in her desire to “blow this town” than I had considered. Those are all East Coast universities, so she’s trying to put the almost the entire continental US between her and that town. I’m in the DC area, so going to an east coast ivy would be more about education than becoming inaccessible if I did it. But I think NYC is the most distant major city I could motorcycle to in a day. That’s a solid 6 hour drive. Meanwhile, it would take me 40 hours without breaks for sleep/food/gas to make it to Seattle. That is too far to be reasonable even as a drunk teenage idea.

Yk Id kinda like to see a full musical of this where JD runs away after her and they live a life together, she gets him therapy and they buy a convenient store and run it as a family business with their adopted kids. it would be so cool if 1:14 flash was replaced with heartbeat so it would fit better (“I rode across the country in a heartbeat.”) Not sure about the rhyme scheme for the next line, but “Only took one break for cigarettes and gas” could maybe be changed to (“Only took a break, for cigarettes and a slushie.”) -> calls back to JD’s method of coping with high-stress and staying mellow, despite moving. It’s a cool call-back. Otherwise I’m totally gonna be replaying this song over and over again 😭😭 THIS IS AMAZING, YOU GO GIRL EDIT: heart was mentioned again (My heart says wow) but you can just replace that with mind 😭
