Nice crossing, I specially like the cantilevers and WRRS gate mechanism. I'm glad you filmed this one before it's gone.

The cantilevers used to be standard in Melbourne from the early 60's to the late 70's for use with traffic lights. They were usually painted yellow but the crossings had them a silver shade. There's still a lot of the traffic lights cantilevers left, but Heatherton Road, Corrigan Road and Murrumbeena Roads might be the last ones that still have the 60's/70's crossing mast.

Yea, those are General Signals Type-2s. Rather odd sounding ones at that. Nice video!

Thanks. I'll put it in the description. It's hard for me to distinguish them

I just came back from a visit to this crossing and I can say that the eastern side has a Westinghouse base and a McK&H gate mechanism. Also, the cantilever on the other side has had the top half of the cantilever cut off as part of the grade separation works. I've got some pictures which I'll post soon.

Looks like you were a little late in getting the Westinghouse bells. I love the old cantilever though, pity it's on its final legs with the crossing being removed
@stuarthunt1018 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was quite a few years late actually. It even had e-bells when I first visited it in 2014

The E-Bells are Type 2's.
