I picked up a very nice one on eBay and whoever built it was meticulous in his wiring. I had a lot of the same problems you had with dead bands and partially working bands. Before touching anything in the circuit I got a can of good spray cleaner and did a good cleaning of the band switch, working it back and forth while spraying all the contacts.......Bingo! Everything worked perfectly except that top band. So clean first before you try anything else, because if mine, which was a very clean unit, had a problem, then they all need a good cleaning of the band switch. Second, put some good BNC connectors on it. Thanks for the video(s) as they were a great source of information on this unit.

Just out of curiosity, is the Kiil-A-Watt your isolation transformer, or did you have another piece of equipment in the background that we didn't see?

The "other transformer" is the tank inductor for the 400 Hz audio modulation oscillator. The "half resistor" is a 2.2 pF capacitor.

Meter look pretty clean ,can you tell me the difference between a signal traced and a signal gerator,I been looking at vintage signal traders for working on old radios,but don't no anything about the generators,maybe you could fill me in you or anyone reading this .

I rather replace old caps they dry out,and most caps aren't that exspensive,resister either ,I like to use metal film resistors ,When I replace parts I like to put in a better part then I took out,or sooner or later it could cost you in other expensive parts going out.that one.cookbook hand wound,all the other coils use out a wire,the one cool is missing magnetic wire,makes me wonder about that one.,and that short resistor never ever seen one like it either, diodes from China you can get a 1000 for a buck ,I just got 1Amp n4007 one hundred for a dollar .

I generally do for electrolytic, I don't shotgun the other components.
