We actually did this with the kids the afternoon and night before Father's Day this year. I have the same memories growing up on the old fishing bridge here in Ocean Springs and Biloxi, MS. No rice cooker, but I'll remember that for next time! ;)

nothing better than fishing with the family . My 3 are adults now , but we spent a lot of happy time at the skyway and the now defunct Reddington fishing pier . the time goes fast.

Excellent idea about the bucket. I see how to strap an umbrella also thank you for posting the bucket tip. I have been numerous times to fish skyway pier but i went on my harley motorcycle i can barely bring my rods and tackle box. Have been learning to catch something and as of yet im still learning. Only once i landed a 19 to 20 inch flounder and try release him gently back and a good citizen came up and prettu much took over the gentle unhooking process thinking it was a keeper i guess he ask what you gonna do with it. I was in my mind like wtf he just ask. I say i was gonna release it because im on a harley have no way to take it inwas pissed without expressing it and also mentioned im not doing nothing with it now you can have it. He had 3 buddies with huge shark fishong outfits looked like they were waiting for the boat orca from movie jaws. What a beautiful fish too i hope a shark ate it at least and put up a good fight for fisherman.

Thats an awesome tradition! I went there yesterday bout 2am and stayed till 10. Didnt catch much but had fun but little guys. Got a lane and mangrove snapper, tiny. A lizard, bunch of pins for bait and this yellow aquarium fish idk what its called. I swear i saw that same sea turtle! I couldnt pull my phone out fash enough tho. big and yellow. It was pretty incredible ngl never seen one so big before
