What a coincidence, I did a video yesterday on using Rubber Threads. I prefer Rubber Threading because it does not dry out your hair as much as the normal fabric type of thread. Great tips in this video.

Out of the 23 videos I watched, yours was the only one that I liked and understood the concept of what you were doing. I love how you did the ends of your hair. That keeps me from tying knots on my hair and possibly cutting my own hair off to remove the thread. Great job. Thanks for the tutorial.

Not sure if you're still responding to comments on this video, but how long do you usually leave the thread in your hair? 24hrs? A few days?
@PureEstrogen6 жыл бұрын
Anywhere from overnight to a week. It just depends on what I plan to do with my hair. If I want to stretch and style the next day, it's overnight. If I want to wear a wig, it replaces cornrows for a week. Also, the less product used, the faster it dries.

I tried this last week on damp hair. used yarn and kept it in for 3 days. Although it was stretched, my hair felt so dry when I unravelled. There was no way the comb glided through my hair like it did yours. I don't think I'll be doing that again:/
@adavis56467 жыл бұрын
sensimania I've had the same experience. i believe it's a moisturizing thing. i have low porosity hair and it ends up very stiff and brittle. I think she has found products that are very moisturizing for her hair. I've tried those same products to no avail. so I'll continue my search. however, I still thread with yarn soaked in olive oil, and do the LOC method with the install. on take down, I spritz with a little aloe Vera juice to help soften the hair before combing-- I also finger comb before using any tools. I style my hair in loose twists after stretching with this technique, or do a bantu knot out, or shingle with gel for a "wash n go" since I end up adding a bit of moisture which causes a little reversion. I love this technique as it keeps my hands out my hair, fits under wigs, and causes limited damage to the hair. @pureestrogen thanks for the update as you were the KZbinr that first introduced me to this technique!
@sensimania7 жыл бұрын
Thanks A Davis, to moisturise my hair I use As I am leave in conditioner and seal it with my honey child hair butter mixed with oils. usually that alone would keep my hair moisturised for almost 2wks (without threading), but 3 days of threading made my hair dryer than the Sahara dessert, lol! Oh well, I might try again in the distant future. Thanks again
@HereDiianas7 жыл бұрын
sensimania Each hair is different. There is more than porosity or texture... There is also elasticity, density, thickness, dryness, strength that is different from head to head even if your hair have "the same texture" 4c. I have had threads all my childhood. The way she does it work for my younger sister not for me. For me my mum had to seal my hair with a mix of shea butter and an oil on already stretch hair (with braids) and slightly damped hair (not damped) in order for my hair to not dry out. Give it a try and I hope it will help :-)
@onyinyeelochukwu70667 жыл бұрын

hi can you help? I have low porosity 4c hair. when it's in its shrunken state it is dry and brittle feeling. I have low density hair. I am also allergic to Shea butter. what regime would you suggest?
@PureEstrogen7 жыл бұрын
pats cookie Avoid all nut oils just to be safe. Use thick buttery moisturizers and always seal. The LOC method is great for moisture too. Always pro poo with oil before shampooing your hair, use a sulfate free shampoo. Use deep conditioner instead of regular conditioner. I will be doing regimen related videos starting in April so stay tuned.

@cherishdeb7 жыл бұрын
be careful with this. I used your old threading video this weekend past and when I took the threads out my hair was twisted and knotted. the curl WAS pretty and defined and I could wear it as a twist out. my hair wasn't straight like yours. but when I was ready to wear another style I had to comb out the twist and it's a recipe for breakage. also, my hair was knotted at the base. maybe i didn't do it properly but I wouldn't recommend this for damaged hair. I'm just gonna blow dry my hair from now on.
@PureEstrogen7 жыл бұрын
cherishdeb It will look like a twistout if you don't smooth as you go down. It takes some practice, but blowdrying is perfectly healthy when done in moderation. You should definitely do what works best because nobody has time for preventable tangles. Thanks for the feedback. 😊
