I thought Shirou's fight with Kirei was pretty fun. It's also really entertaining to think of it as a: Buff dodgy priest dying of heart failure and a buff teenager dying of sword cancer punching each other to death in a cave while arguing about abortion.

Thats what it is but the depiction is different in vn
@nadhifbhagawantahadiprayit9753 жыл бұрын
That's the thing, in the VN it's not Shirou vs Kirei punching each other to death. It's Shirou trying to survive getting beaten to death while Kirei beats himself to death. I was ready to see the sheer desperation of Shirou barely clinging on while Kirei destroys his own skin and bone just punching the body of swords.

This movie shows off perfectly how reading the VN first can change your opinion on something. A lot of people were disappointed with some of the scenes simply because they cut stuff from the VN, but for an anime only, I found this to be one of my favourite films of all time. I mean it's probably because I don't fully know what I'm missing, but at the same time, just because the VN has some really good stuff that was cut, they still did a fantastic enough job given what little time they had to fit as much in as possible.

@@rarewaifu not having monologs isn't the reason, the main reason people spoke out was because certain scenes were changed or switched to incorporate Sakura because a director is very biased when it comes to Sakura and likes to add scenes to help make her look better or seem more relevant in scenes that don't involve her. Many scenes that helped flesh out some of the other characters better in the route were completely changed to give Sakura more time, and these scenes are important since HF isn't just love story between Shirou and Sakura and it has much more to tell than what's going on with the 2 of them. Nobody expects an adaption of Heavens feel to cover everything since there's so much and the established formula for story telling is very different in HF compared to the other routes since its more monologs which would catch both anime only and VN readers off guard to see in a movie and would just come off as unnecessary with such a short watch time. Its annoying tho to see a scene that should have involved Illya and Shirou bonding like siblings be changed into Sakura and Shirou since that would be the first and last time you see them together becoming close as siblings in the canon movies/anime. Still a good movie tho

Haven't watched the 3rd movie, but as a VN reader the first two movies were a great adaptation. The most impactful scenes were done amazingly well, some fights were extended to keep the movie from being dull and playing into Ufotable's strength and some of the scenes that were added were pretty original and interesting (Sakura dreaming in particular was amazing). My only issue is how Ilya was kinda forgotten since she is important for the ending.

Coming back to this after watching the movies myself. I feel they are overall great as a supplement to the Visual Novel, but not a substitute. The one area I do think HF3 completely failed was portraying Shirou's state of mind during the endgame events the film covered. It captured the pain he felt physically, but not mentally at all. The Visual Novel makes it very clear he is struggling to even remember the names of people closest to him, he's completely broken. I would have appreciated if ufotable adapted the scene with spacing out being unable to recall events just hours before. As if he is cutting in and out of reality. Otherwise it's the best of the films imo.

My thoughts exactly. There is a lot more that could have been done, but trying to cram everything in within the allotted runtime could lead to other downsides. Wikia isn't totally correct. You only really understand if you read VN carefully. exp: Wikia says Sakura become more yandere against any female who gets close to Shirou. But it actually wrong. - She banned Rider from release her eyes just because Rider can cause damage to everyone. ( Sakura is very good faith/guilty. Everytime she did anything wrong, she will punish herself. And she tries to prevent everyone do the bad thing,too). - She knows Shirou has interested in Rin, but she tries to calm down and blames herself that she is dirty and can't compare to Rin. She only reaches to her limit at day 13, when Gilgamesh cuts all her limb. She tries to wake up, greets Rin. And Rin responds her kindness by ask Shirou to kill Sakura, while confirms that she actually love Shirou,too. You don't really need worms or yandere to angry in that situation.

Nice review, thanks for making! I was unfortunately disappointed, since the production values were insane and I loved the animation and Kajiura's OST was the best of the 3 movies IMO. I felt it could have been much better, seeing as how FSN is rated as one of the best VNs ever, I really wanted it to fulfill that potential and become a top tier anime. I did know at the same time though, how hard adapting a VN can be, especially with limited time and skill (I'm looking at both the Higurashi animes T_T). For me unfortunately it's only a 8/10 at best due to a lot of aspects feeling lacking with the story, and occasionally minor things with the directing. I felt the first movie was best simply because I understood what was going on better and the story it presented was more of a mystery/thriller, where you don't need answers yet. When HF2 and HF3 did give some answers, I felt it wasn't enough. As an anime only viewer, like you said I was very confused and lost at times, due to not understanding what the stakes were. Many reasons contributed to this, such as me not knowing the lore/magic system and what options were available at what times to each character. Character motivations were also confusing to me because at times characters seemingly would say something that betray their true feelings, and at times it seemed maybe unintentional (character not being honest with themselves) while other times it seemed it may have been on purpose to get some kind of reaction from the other person. I was also confused a lot of times with why a certain character died when there didn't seem to be a reason for them to die, and other times characters living even after multiple deaths. I also didn't get at what times we were supposed to think it was a true death, and at what times I was supposed to know they had a certain magic that protected them from living. All these things made it hard for me to feel invested because I didn't know what I was supposed to understand, what I wasn't supposed to yet, and how to feel in general. At the very bottom I listed some examples that I was confused about if you were curious. As an anime only viewer I was really relieved that they revealed the origin of the grail and how the war started. I was always super lost on that and thought there was just not going to be any explanation, but the explanation turned out to be a relevant backstory which was good. Only thing is that I was following Ilya's explanation at first, but unfortunately I got lost a few lines in, it was hard to keep up with so many names/terms being thrown around, and without all my questions being answered. I felt the Saber Rider fight was lacking in a couple aspects and there was a bit too much overuse on the snappiness, I would have preferred more anticipation and build ups to some of those motions to give more contrast when they did use snappiness to emphasize power. That said it was still glorious and really really impressive to have nonstop action for SIX full minutes, and a great Kajiura OST to go with it. The dialogue that was in the fight was great too "I have his trust", etc. It's probably a top 5 anime fight of all time for me. Kirei was also a standout this movie, I didn't expect that much focus on him but he is one of the things I did feel I had a full understanding of and did not have any confusions. I was very satisfied in regards to his character and role in the movie. The scene with him reflecting/expositing in the church early on with the ethereal music was great and set a certain perspective and tone for the rest of the movie. I also didn't expect to like him so much as a character, knowing some of the messed up shit he did in F/Z. I felt the very beginning of the movie and the end were standouts too. When Sakura was facing off Rin and Shirou. The glorious main theme (butterfly theme, mostly the same from HF2 but with some revisions) was really epic, and I loved the contrast between the intensity of the theme and the tense stareoff and Sakura just showing her craziness. The camera just spinning around Sakura's expression darkening while the opera singer wailed was so hype. It made her have such an overwhelming presence. The Aimer song fit way way better than I thought it was going to. The way it synced up with Sakura looking at the Sakura trees, as well as the chorus starting when they take the first step over the line... the way they emphasized was so beautiful I felt like tearing up. It made me disappointed I didn't enjoy the movie a lot more though because I felt that moment would have actually made me cry with how well it was executed. I also feel the VN did the Rin Sakura scene better, when Rin reveals she does love her and can't kill her. The VN had nakige style sad, tender music. The movie went for the silent approach, but I felt it was dry that way. The VN scene made me realize it was supposed to be a very touching and fulfilling moment. Sorry this was so long, if you read any of it then thanks XD Examples of some things I was confused about. No need to answer them, I plan to read up more or just read the VN sometime before getting spoiled fully. 1) I didn't realize that Shirou was losing his memory. I felt him stuttering when saying "Rider" was awkward, like he was too weak to talk, rather than forgetting and being unsure. They could have conveyed this better with different directing/character acting. The VN did it better because he the voice acting makes it sound more like he tries saying "Rider" but gives up and moves on. In the movie, there is a longer pause so it seems less like he forgot and more like he's too tired to finish the sentence or something. 2) I didn't realize that the blades were being created from Shirou to try to fix or keep alive his body. I thought the blades themselves were the consequence of using Archer's arm. But it seems that using Archer's arm hurts him, and when his body is hurt the blades are created as a reaction. And also that when he gets hurt in general, the blades would create. 3) I didn't realize that Shirou was actually going to die at the end. He seemed fine enough to me, for anime-logic standards. After reading the VN scene I see that he was supposed to be nearly dead and about to do 1 last projection. Though I thought that since he didn't need to, his body wouldn't die, but it seems it did anyway. So I didn't really get why Ilya had to save him by sacrificing herself when Shirou would have lost his body whether he did 1 last projection to destroy the grail or not. Later I read that Ilya saved his soul and it was in a birdcage. I also thought Shirou had Avalon which will heal his body no matter what. 4) When Rin "died" after failing to kill Sakura, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to think she was already dead at first until she budged. But I wasn't sure if Sakura saw that she budged and knew she wasn't actually dead when Shirou told her. I also didn't know why she didn't die until I read that she had some magical protection due to her family. 5) Zouken dying 3 different times. I knew he wasn't going to go that easily but it seemed a bit silly to me. 6) When Kirei died at the end, I thought he died due to Shirou punching him first before Kirei's fist reached him when he said he lost due to "timing". I felt that was pretty unclear, whereas in the VN, Kirei dies mid-motion and without Shirou punching him. In the movie it seemed like Shirou's fist did touch Kirei so it looked like he got punched and died. (I knew that would be silly to die to a weak punch like that, but I was already confused at many other things so I accepted it as the truth). 7) I didn't get how Shirou traced Berserker's weapon/noble phantasm/nine lives whatever he did, since he never saw Berserker's past and how he died. Maybe Archer touched his weapon at some point that I don't remember. 8) Why Shirou couldn't use Caster's noble phantasm to free Saber from the evil stuff. It's supposed to break magics and contracts, so it should be able to break the link between her and the shadow's control the way Shirou freed Sakura from it. 9) A lot of the mechanics of the grail, how wishes are made and granted, how corruption works, etc. weren't explained enough for me to feel invested in the stakes. 10) A ton about Sakura's character. Understandably she is complex and often dishonest, but it did make it hard for me to understand when situations kept changing. I didn't understand whether she was able to reject the shadow or not. Was her reluctance to Shirou saving her simply due to feeling guilty for killing people? Did she even know that Shirou had a way to save her? I didn't know Shirou had a way to save her until he projected Caster's NP. 11) If Saber and Rider are both linked to Sakura, they should be boosted by the shadow's powers. So shouldn't Alter Saber still be way stronger than Rider? Power levels in Fate seem inconsistent and I shouldn't think of them much, and it was for the sake of an epic fight so it's justified to make it look like a close fight. It seems in the VN, Shirou fights Saber herself, so yeah I much prefer Rider + Shirou support vs Saber. I also like the little plan/trust thing they had going there, since I'm guessing it was anime original. It made the fight feel very euphoric.

Woah, lots of questions 😅 I read most of what u said, and I 90% agree with most of it. The disagreement is due more to personal taste and such, like with Kirei's exorcism. For me I enjoyed that scene bc of two things: the reference to Shirou Kotomine from Apocrypha, and I'm Catholic, so the "Kyrie Eleison" is very familiar to me. Now when it comes to your questions, I can answer a few. The one about swords coming out of Shirou, I don't know all the details, but I believe a major part of it, is that is Origin is "Sword", influenced by Avalon. (If ur unfamiliar with Origins, it's basically what allowed Kiristugu, or rather his mentor, to make those special bullets that mess up magic Circuits). I knew Archer's arm was involved, but I didn't know they were a sort of defense mechanism, that's interesting. For Shirou dying or not, if I'm not mistaken, it's one of those situations where "It's not a matter of if, only when. As soon as he used Archer's arm the first time, he basically chose death. The rule to use the arm 3 or 4 more times, wasn't like a limit to maintain his life, rather, it meant using it X amount of times would accelerate the process to the point that he'd die on the spot. As for Avalon's influence, he needs to be near Saber, and I'm assuming Vanilla Saber, since that's would've kicked in when he used Rho Aias. Regardless, at the time at which he almost died, Avalon was undeniably inert as Saber had already been defeated. Also, it's noted that "Even the Grail could not repair Shirou's broken body" Zouken's persistence, I agree that was pretty silly 😂 When it comes to Shirou and Archer, the projection magic they use is fundamentally different from normal projection. It's a method called trace projection. (Hence, "Trace On") The difference is, once mastered (Basically once Shirou becomes Archer), the Magecraft doesn't make Hollow imitations based on sight alone. Archer not only traces the weapons structure, but it's history and every other aspect of it. With this, he can not only replicate the properties of items (Like Rule Breaker), but replicate the skills attributed to the weapon's user (Such as Nine Lives). The only limitation is divine constructs like Ea and Excalibur, for those you'd need the memories of the object itself, (For example, Shirou perfectly traced both Avalon and Caliburn in the Fate route after coming into contact with Saber, and having Avalon in his body for a decade). As for where the knowledge comes from, Archer is assumed to have lived through a general version of the 5th Grail war in which he learned all the big things (IE: Projection Magic, The Seven Servants and their well known abilities, etc.) Shirou didn't use Rule Breaker on Saber for a couple reasons. For one, he was, as stated before, limited as to how often he could use high level projection. If he used rule breaker on Saber, the time gaps and energy expended would likely require him to reproject it when saving Sakura. On that note, Shirou may very well have damned the consequences and done just that, but unlike the Fate route, Shirou and Saber were just Comrades, she was defeated with in a couple days so they could barely bond as much as tbe other route. So even though Shirou killed her heavy heartedly, Sakura was his priority. Also, I could be very wrong, but I think the Blackening Saber went through, and Sakura's corruption are slightly different. Rule breaker would break Sakura's connection to Angra, but in Saber's case, it'd probably cut her pact with Sakura. Again I could be wrong, but he may have remained an alter, since there wasn't a pact involved in that process. When it comes to the grails corruption, even with a full season anime, I feel like they couldn't have explained it enough. The full picture for that could very well be its own anime. It has to do with the First through Fourth Wars. For the sake of corruption though, the context given in Spring Song and Zero seem to give a decent amount of info. For the rest, I'd reccomend diving into the wiki (Or don't it's a deep rabbit hole) When it comes to Sakura's inconsistencies, it's understandably confusing. I see it like this: She at first hated the world itself because of all her hardships. Shirou was her one ray of light. Even if there was no clear way for him to save her, she still trusted him with everything she had. Kirei is really the one I think, who changes her attitude. When she's first corrupted, she's cocky and power hungry, but once Kirei lectures her, she goes through a mental crisis of sorts, her true self wanting to keep her sister and only friend (hero) safe and killing herself as punishment for her crimes, and her dark side clinging to her power. In the final battle, after Killing Zouken (Kinda) and Assassin, she gets cocky and decides to move on with flexing her power. Of course Rin has her moment with her, and her death causes the kinder side of Sakura to awaken and try to kill herself as atonement, until Shirou comes and saves her by "punishing her." She accepts this, because, as she said in the first movie "if it's [Shirou] I'm fine with [being punished] " As for the last point, the only "bond" between Rider and Sakura is that of Summoner and Servant. After using all three command spells, their contract was nullified. Rider only cares about Sakura, not as a master, but as a person. As for power scaling, Medusa is most definitely not on equal ground. She had to bust her ass in that fight to only MATCH Saber, who, though she was trying, likely wasn't fighting at 100%. As Rider said, she can only match her at full power for 2 minutes Hopefully that was helpful. I totally agree that context wasn't this trilogy's strong point, but if you love Fate, I highly recommend diving into the wiki. It's a lot of info to take in but it's sooooo juicy. Having all the context I did, I love this movie so much more. At first I was worried that the context I had was more like spoilers, but realistically, it's hard to Spoil Spring Song. If anything, if you're just giving a verbal description, you're really only giving context. Then the friend you "spoiled" watches the movie, sees the animation for the first time, and gushes over it, having learned the significance. Personally, I like that formula to some extent. Fate adaptations seem to take the term "Adaptation" Literally. Instead of making Heavens Feel anime only friendly, a lot of it was more of "Hey visual novel readers, you know all this story, now here's what it looks like in glorious Ufotable Animation with Godly Yuki Kaijura music"

@@Tosu2357 Thanks for response and explanations! Oh I actually liked Kirei's battle with Assassin and his exorcism to be clear! I mostly didn't like Zouken's 2nd death fakeout. His worm being crushed and surviving and squirming around later was weird to me haha. Also now that I think of it I thought it was funny when Sakura felt bad for killing Shinji and especially Zouken. I was like, bro!!! lol Ooh yeah I remember origins being awakened in KnK. I guess I should have known that concept carried over to Fate too even if not mentioned in the same way. So I guess Avalon was still at play and his body was trying to heal, but his Origin was awakened (due to Archer's arm or such), and instead of healing naturally it tried healing with blades since he's a blade. That makes sense to me! Avalon not working due to Vanilla Saber being gone makes enough sense too. When Shirou said/showed to Ilya that he was OK after the Berserker fight, I thought he really was OK at the time, but I guess the movie did try to show he wasn't, by showing him hurting in his sleep. Ok, not being able to spam rule breaker makes sense. Even if he projected it only once, it still takes mana to use multiple times. I feel bad for Saber but yeah he barely knew her, and killing her fits well with the theme of protecting his true love and ignoring "justice". Saber's corruption being different due to in itself not involving a "pact" would make enough sense too. I'll try reading up about the Grail corruption, Greater Grail, White/Black Grail stuff cus it did make me curious. I do love reading wiki's when the lore is interesting. Oh shit, I forgot about Sakura saying that she was fine with Sem-pai punishing her. That's a nice book end! (Also that's l-lood). It would have helped if I rewatched HF1 and HF2 to prepare for HF3. Also yeah I figure that ufotable knew it wasn't going to be possible to make it fully anime friendly, and so instead went with the minimal amount needed to understand the main parts. It's an understandable compromise since the movie as an anime can't be much longer than 2 hours, and to save budget. I do kind of wish I read the VN, or at least HF route, before watching the 3rd movie now, but I'm definitely planning on reading the VN sometime to see what it's really like, and rewatching HF eventually!
@Tosu23573 жыл бұрын
@@YoshiKirishima Yeah, I'm planning to fully experience the VN real soon, already downloaded it. Zouken is definitely an annoying bastard, I think we can all agree 😂 I think I forgot to mention a very interesting fact abt the sword thing. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "I am the bone of my sword" That phrase is a subtle nod to his origin. When it manifests, his bones literally become swords. Also interesting to note is that his orgin is why he can use projection viably. Normally projection is considered useless because you spend X amount of Mana for a Hollow shell that's likely worth 60% - ish of what was use to make it. But because of the Origin that is sword, Shirou and Archer can trace objects more accurately as explained before, so long as they consider it a weapon (Sword being a broad representation of weapons I suppose). This means he can't project a working toaster oven 😂 Also, DID YOU SEE THE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS SAKURA HAD WHEN TALKING TO KIREI?!?!?! I don't care if she was corrupted she's was pretty damn cute when she tried 😂 And yeah fate lore is often very interesting, I've burnt my retinas on the wiki a dozen times 😂😂😂 The callback to the moments shared by the two were some of my favorite parts. There's of course the punishment scene as we mentioned, there's the Cherry Blossom viewing promise at the end, and the whole idea of Shirou betraying his dream to be a hero. On that note, I love that point you made about Saber, how he followed his new path of "Saving Sakura at all costs" that never actually occurred to me. What made me laugh a bit was whenever someone berated Shirou for his weakness in not killing Sakura earlier. Because had he done that (an option in the VN), he'd be immediately cucked by rider. Not only would Sakura live, the man she loved would be dead and she'd likely frenzy right then and there. Despite the flaws in the movie, which I feel are very subjective, I personally see it as one of my favorites. But that's only because I've basically drowned in the mud of the Type Moon Wiki 😂. And this just makes me really wanna read the VN. I'll probably do that once I'm on vacation and not busy with other stuff. If u wanna explore fate more, I'd highly recommend watching Otaku Dai Kun' s videos if u haven't already, they're very thorough and actually fairly easy to understand. He has a video explaining the Stay Night lore, covering all 5 wars

As this movie covered my favorite part of the VN I wanted it to be just as good, but sadly didn't reach that far. These individuals is strong the pinnacle of mankind, people that manage to become so strong but incapable to protect what matters to them, and Sakura I sympathies with her I truly do, it's just hard for me to think she is suited for Shirou after watching Fate and UBW, I see him rather more suited with Rider or Ilya. I’m an anime only and watching the entire trilogy felt hard to understand at certain points but man the ending made up for it so much. I really didn’t like the relationship between Shirou and Illya in Fate UBW due to the lack of brother-sister interaction despite them not really being blood-related at all (just sharing the same Father). Seeing how close they became in HF was so heartwarming so seeing the ending where she sacrifices herself had me crying. Then for the cherry on top, when she reunited with Iris just added to the emotion so much. I’ve not watched the Fate route yet but between HF and UBW, I honestly prefer this one. It has a much closer connection to Fate/Zero so no doubt in my mind this route is my fave. HF follows the theme of family bonding more than anything else since the resolution for Sakura was to have the one she saw as “her hero”, Rin to finally acknowledge her struggles and by comforting her in the final moments in order to break through to her when the Shadow had gained almost full control over her. Absolute masterpiece and beautiful ending. But of course ,the fight scenes were f*cking insane. Huge respect to the animation team working at Ufotable ✊ and I don’t regret spending the last three days watching all three movies for the first time.

I haven't played the VN in a while, but I felt there were some things left out while watching the movie. I just can't recall what they were. At least I knew I wasn't the only one that felt like that. I still think this route shouldn't have been made as a movie. While I know it still wouldn't have done well as a show either, like Fate and UBW, but since it's a movie, there's more pressure on fitting everything together due to the time constriction. I think that's why people still preferred UBW (the show not the movie) because it didn't entirely feel rushed. While things were left out (not as much as the movie), I appreciated the studio's decision in making additional scenes about Archer. I hope the Fate route gets rebooted as part of the anniversary. NOT as a movie, but as a show. While VN adaptations are never perfect, I prefer it being made as a 24 episode show rather than a movie.

However, overtime, as he spent hundreds of years attempting to get the grail, he had to constantly renew his decaying body, with his condition only getting worse over time. Zelretch:" I know you can recreate Jeweled Sword if you will have materials" and he was right. Thats how Rin ended up in Clock Tower Mineralogy Department and also was lectured by Waver few times. Could you explain what happened to Shirou at the end of the film? Did Ilya become the grail and grant Shirou’s wish?
@NeNeiSan3 жыл бұрын
Illya used the Third Magic and displacement magecraft to put Shirou's soul into a container. Rider later found that container and Rin brought it to a mage, Touko Aozaki (Kara No Kyoukai), who specializes in making dolls. They had the soul transplanted into the doll, and overtime the doll began to take shape into the Shirou we see at the end of the film.

Zouken loved Justeaze, so when she sacrificed her self for the HGW, he vowed to make it to the root so her sacrifice wasn't in vain. However, by extending his life by many years took a mental toll on him and he forgot his original intention. His wish then turned to an obsession for immortality.

As an anime watcher, it'd be interesting to see an in-depth analysis of which parts of the VN stayed and which were altered/cut. I remember seeing a little bit of the alter fight online a while back in which shirou was actually more involved in fighting her directly (memory could be wrong but idk) Though in terms of the movie itself i went in knowing little which i think made my viewing more enjoyable. Aside from the very beginning, the majority of the start did seem kind of sluggish, but i feel it may have been intentional, an emphasis on the "Calm before the storm". Also, Kiritsugu's monologue was pretty interesting but also kind of dragged me out from the story a bit? Oh and my favorite scene though would 100% be Shirou catching up with Archer in that sand storm.

I have thought about making a video comparing and contrasting the VN and anime, it would be fun to make. The problem is I would have to reread the VN again to make sure I don't miss out on anything. That Emiya scene was amazing, a great call back to how the UBW anime ended.

They aren't really explained even in the VN (I may have forgotten, but I'm pretty sure they didn't explain it). They are just an army Sakura uses to combat Rin. As for why one stayed in the end, that is something anime original with no explanation.

I have watched the movie but haven't gone all the way with the VN, I must say I still enjoyed it. It sucks that people are too intimidated with the watch order of Fate and they're missing this great story because of that. For the standouts in the movie itself: •Shirou vs Herc And Kirei vs Zouken and Hassan were my favorites. •Zouken wasn't explored much • Rider despite being a badass, the still didn't give much to flesh her out. •That Sakura/Rin moment didn't hit as much emotional buttons in me that it should've had. I saw the light novel counterpart in yt and I teared up there, but maybe that just because I've already seen it idk. Anyways, still a good film.

As a anime only. I would say the movie is very solid and concluded the series quite well. My only gripes would be that the third act was way cramped with three major conflicts (Rider Vs Salter, Rin vs Sakura and Shirou vs Kirei) happening at the same time. This made the conflict between Shirou and Kirei get overlooked a bit. But overall a good film 9/10

the issues laid out in this video seems to be an issue with adaptations of anything from a written source material filled with detailed explanations. Whether it be books or VN eg. lord of the rings. Those mediums translate very differently in motion. When animated, One cannot just simply "explain" like you can with novels or you just disrupt the flow. Its a fundamentally different set of rules. Unfortunately, this is the best we will ever get in regards to the limitations between novel and animation and I am thankful that the adaptations exists regardless. Fate suffers from just not being easy to follow due to the complexity of its concepts/explanations and thus not easily adaptable fully. That's hard adapt in a "show don't tell" style of storytelling that is generally praised when it comes to live action/motion series.
@NeNeiSan3 жыл бұрын
Most of my issues really boiled down to either setting my expectations too high, or pretty important things not being explained properly. If the film was just a bit longer, I feel it could have been a lot better. As an adaptation, it did reasonably well with its run time, and even adds upon things certain things.

Some minor observations to add: this is the only route without This Illusion in it (barring the UBW movie), but that EMIYA was a nice touch along with the track before it being based from To the Beginning. This is also a route where I found no meme-able lines :( Also, I think the fistfight focused more on the discussion than the intensity of the fight itself. I noticed this preference when discussions happen during fights in ufotable works, even DEEN's. I reckon this is an instruction from Type-Moon itself. I'm excited for this series' future. I hope ufotable adapts the Fate route. Probably for the next anniversary milestone of Type-Moon?
@NeNeiSan3 жыл бұрын
I can see how the fight focused on the dialogue rather than spectacle. I guess my expectations is what killed it for me. I am curious to see what Type-Moon x Ufotable series is next.
