Interesting comment on the animation. This is getting (rightfully) praised by everyone for it's art and animation quality. Good animation doesn't come just from action scenes, even talking and walking looks amazing in this, just look at the scene at 13:53.

I didn’t praise the show the way it deserved at the beginning But the point I was trying to make was in regards to “first episode syndrome” where shows frontload the first episode or two with half of their animation budget for the season in order to hook people with high frame count Sakura, leaving the rest of the season without such polish. This show didn’t do that in the first ep, however it was still spectacularly directed like others have said and while the animation was above par, they didn’t do the “first episode syndrome” thing I talked about. I’m not saying that the show is bad because of that, not even in the slightest. It’s just something I think about when trying to predict a show’s promise over the course of the season In other words, I didn’t land on one side or the other in the discussion. I wasn’t trying to call the animation bad. It’s a very well made show. I was just trying to predict where the quality was going over the course of the season, and I couldn’t get a read on it.

@@BOLDcast I get what you mean. But then again I do think these episodes look amazing and I do view some of these scenes as sakuga. I love the flashy action scenes as much as everyone else but I'm a sucker for good character animation. Nowadays you see so many anime where characters just stand there flapping their months at each other in the most boring shots ever. It's so nice to see a show full of creative shots and angles, the characters moving so naturally and with so much personality, all that in the most mundane situations. You can do a lot with those little details and it makes the atmosphere so much better. Not to mention those absolutely gorgeous hand painted backgrounds. But I guess something that could explain why you feel like it "spreads out" it's animation instead of focusing into one episode might be because it's supposedly been finished for a while before it even aired, similar to Mob Psycho 100.

Something unique about this series is the author has it all planned to the end but also that he encourages readers to figure out the clues and pieces themselves rather than have exposition, so making predictions and paying attention to seemingly innocuous details is part of the fun! It's heavily inspired by Akira and mystery novels, and also be warned it does go into very adult seinen content as well. I'm excited for your episode 3 reaction!

Yeah in hindsight i did undervalue the animation quality overall But what I was more talking about in that point was that the production didn’t seem to try and “WOW” the audience in order to hook them in the first episode. That didn’t come til the fight in ep 2. You’re right the quality overall was great, and I didn’t appreciate that as much as I should have in the video.

I use a translator, sorry. Maru and Kiruko are positive and caring, but like you said,normally, terrible things happen. I don't know if it was translated, but a sign at the gate of the village where the farms are growing has a warning in Japanese that says, "Those who enter without permission are often met with a merciless death." In manga, then the names of the children at the facility are written in katakana（カタカナ）. Both maru and kirko are katakana. As Carson said, "Toki" in "Tokioトキオ" often uses the kanji character for time（時）, and "O" is often used in boy's names. (Recently, some girls' names use "o" at the end of their names.) Therefore, "Tokio" is often a boy's name in Japan. Using kanji makes it easier to tell the gender, so the manga uses katakana. "kun君'', which is used after the name, is also usually used for boys. And the children at the facility and Kirko use "Boku僕" in the first person. "Boku" is usually used by boys. (Although it is often used by girls in anime) I enjoyed the discussion of the two of you because the gender is intentionally hidden! And it's a story that touches a lot on sexual scenes, so it's a work that that some people has different tastes, but it's really well-crafted and interesting! There is also a meaning in feeling strange, and it will be connected later! I'm happy to see you guys even notice the little things☺️Big Brain Carson and Big Brain Lindsay🕺 By the way, in Japan, ships are often named "Something Maru（〜丸）". It's Kirko and Maru's ship, so both are on it!

Your discussion section of this series and Oshi no Ko is definitely something to watch for. I am also really interisting if you guys have one more slot for another show. Slice of life/romance series would be nice change. Like Tonikaku than Lindsay interest in or Insomnia After School that Carson mention. Btw Skip to Loafer is really nice SOL of this season if you interested in that genre. The reaction channel i have been following around put quite good discussion around it.

Bro you are out of your mind if you think they read the manga beforehand. Not only do they not have time for it, they wouldnt watch the show if the main premise was spoiled. Even if they did get spoiled somehow(not really possible) how stupid would they have to be to fake their reactions to get a "big brain moment" Have you watched their reactions before? Lindsay and Carson have been exposed to so many different mediums that they are able to explore things in different ways than your average viewer. Sometimes it feels like it actually makes some shows less enjoyable for them because they have some great unique theories and the show ends up being your run of the mill basic story(tower of god comes to mind). I know there are some reactors that will fake their reactions or have already watched the show but trust me 100% carson and lindsay don't have enough time or energy to fake a reaction on a show no one really knows about . It's so funny how you consider my comment silly when what I'm suggesting (them being spoiled) is ENTIRELY possible given the fact these two choose what shows to watch weeks and months in advance. They don't necessarily have to read the source (manga) to get info on major plot-points either. It takes flippin 3-5 minutes to get intel. There's the "big brain" reputation to uphold too; this alone can "pressure" them to learn things in advance. There's enough "evidence" to be "convinced" that kids are on a flipping spaceship on the orbit of Saturn at this point. Why aren't they discussing something so ridiculous? Where's the evidence for that either? He precisely talks about events from the "lab with kids" taking place in the past, and yet there's 0 evidence that would suggest "futuristic" railguns and robots were possibly BEFORE the disaster happened. Any sensible person would think that the kids are in some facility with super advanced tech. There simply hasn't been enough "hints" to suggest what they're "theorizing".
