To the people who think this is "Clout chasing" because they're like Dealer you fail to realize BOTH Ex-Dealer composers are in this band. David Wilder and Josh Ang both founding members of Dealer were pushed out by Aiden. This isn't them trying to catch the tail of Dealer's sound. This is a bitter rivalry of old friends and bandmates, and I'm all for it if that means we get bangers like this.

@@RyanHarville Dealer vocalist had allegations (charges were dropped) throne his way, entire metal scene believes it despite only being unfounded allegations, and a bunch of ex-bandmates/people entirely unrelated to Dealer themselves start taking shots because it's the cool thing to do without ever thinking about how they'd feel if the shoe was on the other foot. Look up something like "Dealer band allegations" or something of that sort and you'll find what you need. Look into it and come to your own conclusion. Don't be like the moron you responded to, who's clearly just regurgitating false information because other people told him what to believe.

I just feel like they’re trying desperately to get the sound Josh Ang created and Aiden’s vocals are very meh especially compared to Nazareth (HEAVENSGATE vocalist) and I find it hard to respect a guy that’s been kicked out of pretty much every band he’s been in. but that’s just my opinion and I respect yours!

@@ohbxnny6299let’s face it. The band wasn’t all just Josh, yeah he wrote for the band, but at the time they were in a band. That’s typically how it goes, rarely does a band all get together in a room and write songs together like it was back in the day. Most of the time one member has more of a hand in the writing pot then the rest of them do. It happened to be Josh. But to sit hear and say Aiden’s lyrics and vocals don’t define dealer just as much as the instrumentals do is crazy. The duo of Josh and Aiden is what made it sick, just cuz Josh is gone dosent mean Aiden has to totally change the style of music. People like dealer for the weird guitar noises and chunky riffs, that dosent cease to exist in new dealer music just because Josh is gone. Obviously they’re gonna stick to a certain sound. You can’t trademark drop f guitar riffs with harmonics. I thought the new dealer album sounded different from soul burn and saint. Mainly in the structure and vibe, just felt faster and grittier, and a little more dark comparatively.

But compared to Nazareth and even the Pincer+ vocalist Aiden just all that unique and isnt as talented vocally as those two IMO. so to me Heavensgate scratches the itch that i had for dealer when they were up and coming and to me personally heavensgate is just leagues better. But like like i said its just my opinion and you have yours and thats fine! And yes you cant trademark drop E with harmonics but when you hear old dealer and pincer+/heavensgate songs you just know thats that Josh Ang sound and riffage (given this new Heavensgate song was written by the other guitarist David)

Heavensgate’s guitarist Josh Ang was formerly in a band called Dealer. They were pretty big in the scene until everyone in the band left due to allegations of abuse from the lead vocalist Aiden Holmes, as well as a sexual assault charge. It seemed like Josh Ang in particular suffered the worst from Aiden’s emotional abuse. Dealer has now returned with a full length album and a new lineup, featuring a former Heavensgate guitarist. Needless to say, there’s a lot of internal strife between everyone involved.

Chasing clout. The husk of Dealer still pulls more attention than either new band. I think Josh is insanely talented and I really like HG but both projects don't have 'it' so they're latching onto what they have...an association with an incredibly popular release that they can leverage to take some easy shots at a guy the "community" decided is persona non grata. Nobody wants to come out and say it but that's really the only reason people dickride these bands and especially Josh so hard. You see people here going off about what a fucking wizard Josh is but his name isn't anywhere in the credits for this song lmao. I really like HG and thought they had the potential to be big on their own so it's disappointing to see them lean so hard into this shit, they don't need it. ​@@eljacoboese.in4ksee that's the thing, jack left the band because he didn't like that he didn't have much hand in writing the HG EP because in reality josh, David, Erik(loathe guitarist), Kofi wrote the EP, he even stated that there was internal drama that him and Aki(bass player watch unfold)and naz left the band 3 times(according to him) because of personal problems. And it makes sense because when I was checking out HG's Instagram Naz wasn't in their following list for awhile which is how grayscale bands identify who's in the band. Also doesn't help that Jack's father had passed away shortly after the EP was released. So basically jack left because of lack of creative input, internal drama and loss of father.
