These angles are used as concrete embeds for loading docks. They get hot dip galvanized and set in place when they pour all the concrete to form pocket for loading dock leveler.
I didn't cross the scales but she was definitely close to her limit. As I say low and slow under the radar...

I appreciate how you explain everything for people who may not know, I worked in a steel mill for a few years and our banding machines were pneumatic…..we probably went through 2500 feet a day in the department I was in. Great job on those parts man 👍

@@Weldingprobably wow that’s insane. Yea we don’t use that much but it’s one of those things that you gotta have just in case. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment. I know it’s something super simple but for so many people they don’t know how these things work and I feel like it’s good to explain.

I just found your channel and appreciate the work you do. What did you use to miter the 45 degree cuts?

@@curtishatfield9629 we have an Ellis 2000 saw. It’s time consuming but works best I believe. We have a 50 ton iron worker and I’m not a fan of how it works with angle. Wastes alot of material, seems to bend the ends a lot. Thanks so much for watching

I think 3x3 1/4" runs around 4-4.5 lbs per ft.

@@DXT61 with all the studs and welds etc if I figured correctly it should have been around 9500 lbs. they weigh it at galvanizing so I’ll have to look at that as they charge per dry weight lb

@@dwiltd so we actually have a 50 Ton ironworker and I’ve tried running angle through it with little luck. I feel like it wastes a lot of material so I just cut on the saw. If you have tips please share I’m always willing to learn new lessons. Definitely a lot of folks out there with great fabrication knowledge. Thanks for watching

Enjoying your videos. On your straps, if you take the rolls to the other side of the trailer you can shove the rolled up strap between the rub rail and the trailer then toss it over. That way your hook is captured in the rub rail and you can loop it under and hook it back on the top so it won’t fall off on you Also don’t forget to subtract the weight of the trailer from the gvwr to get your payload. That’s looks like just a 14k trailer so you’d probably be awful close loading 10k on the deck. I’d imagine that trailer weighs 4500-5k lbs so in order to stay legal you’d be allowed 9-9500 lbs on the deck (if it weighs 5500, you’d be allowed 8500#…etc..)

That's a great idea, Sounds like you do some hauling. I'll have to try that as they can be annoying sometimes if you don't have anyone to hold the hook which most times we call know you don't So our 30' gooseneck is rated for 16K which allows us to haul 10K of payload and keep everything under CDL requirements. I have been looking seriously at getting my CDL just because were right on the bubble a lot of times. Thanks for watching hope you subscribed to our channel. Have a great Sunday

@@MattcoMetalWorks oh right on. I’m in the same boat myself with the cdl dilemma. It’s expensive to get one but it’s more expensive to get caught without one. For now it’s on my “sometime soon” list, and that list never seems to get shorter. lol
