Our 2 cats do almost all these things, except no hunting gifts since they are indoors. But one of them often wags her tail and that worries me, is this ALWAYS a sign of stress/something negative or does it exist cats with happy wagging tails….?

I adopted a 2 year old cat from a coworker whose husband didn’t treat the cat well. She was SO fearful that she hid under my bed and stayed there. Every evening I laid on the floor beside the bed. I brought food & water to her and talked to her there for hours every day. After 2 weeks she surprised me by coming out from under the bed and laying with me. She never hid again. We were completely bonded. She also wanted absolutely nothing to go with ANYONE else. Eventually she got comfortable with my young daughter, but no one else. She lived to be 19 years old and passed about 10 years ago. I still miss her. Her name was Sydney.

I'm so sorry Sydney is no longer with you. You definitely gave her the great life she deserved, fully of safety and love ❤️. You're a great catmom! It's a slightly different situation, but my two boys were everyone's friends as kittens, feeling so safe with me and assuming every hooman must be awesome. When they were +/- 1yo I had workers in the house and one or more did something to one or both, because after that my cats suddenly became extremely fearful of strangers, especially of men. Just the ring of the doorbell had them panicking. If someone entered they ran away and hid. My heart broke for them! It took me a very long time to get them accustomed to the idea of strangers and particularly to interact with strangers again, but luckily it worked at one point. With my slightly younger boy it took over a year and I even had to reconnect our bond a bit. I think he blamed me or associated me with what had happened. Nowadays he does all mentioned 10 points again, but especially the cuddle bit took over a year to reappear! As to the strangers, I gave very strict rules to people in my house - don't suddenly touch them, leave them be if they're obviously agitated/fearful (explained body language), introduce yourself with one crooked finger and go from there etc etc. With those that responded well to my cats and vice versa I took it one step further and tried to let them help me in linking strangers in my home to good things like play and treats. I saw little differences over time, until they were obviously relaxed and feeling safe again. They'll never again be the super open buddies of before, but perhaps that's good in a way. They've learnt there can be bad humans (and I've become more careful as well, keeping them with me or at least checking on interactions). They always wait a while now to 'taste' the energy in the room, see how I interact with those strangers and then come and say hi or even ask for petting. They really like some family and friends, or even medical professionals who come to me - f.e. my edema therapist is a big hit with both and they'll easily lie next to her while she's doing the treatment, letting her touch them too - but they've learnt when it's better to stay in their trees or in my bedroom for example. Cats can learn to trust again, but the bigger the abuse, the smaller the circle of new trustees. Animal abuse is revolting and I hope that one day punishment for it will be much harsher than it is nowadays (including psychological help, because there must be sth wrong with or broken in someone if they hurt innocent, small souls).

From a shelter, I adopted a Siamese-mix 8 year old girl who seemed visibly depressed from missing her longtime family who had surrendered her for lack of funds. Turned out that she wanted a mutually loving relationship, and as a lone senior whose previous old cat had just died, I wanted the same. She invented the welcome home ritual that we perform every time I come through the door. She sleeps with me and because she's treated with love every minute of the day, she's very secure and bonded to me. At over age 13, she's still frisky, silly and meows only to demand play time. We're so lucky to have found each other!

We have a stray who just decided one day that she was ours. Immediately strolled up on our porch for pets, purring away, and started giving gifts. She's now 90% an inside cat, who makes biscuits on us, who guards us while we use the bathroom, and loves to be held like a baby. It feels so special to have been chosen by a cat.

My indoor cat brings me dish towels from our kitchen every single night. He drops them in the hallway just outside of my bedroom door and I praise him each time. I cannot even begin to imagine how many birds, mice and other tiny creatures we have spared by keeping him indoors, but I am so glad that he found a positive way to utilize his wonderful hunting skills! It's nice knowing that we are safe from the evil dish towels because of our loyal hunter.

Two of my cats do this to both my wife and I and also our son...the other one is a bit of a loner and never really broke out of being feral...Shes a sweet kitty but shes off hiding in the rafters most of the time....At least she's up high like a cat should be and not hiding under the bed or something, She sometimes visits when we're using the restroom...Odd, We don't bug them when they are trying to poopy!

In 2010 my mother died suddenly. And days later I walked by a beautiful cat in a pet store window who looked as sad as I felt. I went in and discovered that Lilly had been adopted and was dropped back and she was depressed. I said that I would take her and never let her go. She was so pretty, good manners, affectionate--VERY SMART--and she wasn't shy about what she wanted. Over nearly 14 years together--and she still looked beautiful and still very bossy. And then she was gone. I'm still praying she'll be back. I've never been a crybaby--until now.

So sorry to read that, Suzette. You probably know, though, that over 14 years is getting old for a cat; and when they get older are more likely to get sick, like with kidney disease., which is very common in older cats. And when cats are sick they tend to hide. I hope you find her alright, though.

In November i had found a starved kitten in a bush. She was completely ferral, and didnt let me near her for 3 days until she finally did. Since she was only 11 weeks old. Seeing she does everything on this list nearly made me cry. I love my girl 🥰

My Beau was found in the median of a very busy 6 lane highway. My son heard his cries from a parking lot. When he walked into the median, kitty ran to his feet crying. He was about 6 weeks old. I can't help but wonder if he had been thrown from a moving car 😢. I picked him up very quickly after this and he's been my little man ever since. He has definitely imprinted on me and I love him dearly. I just wish his "love bites" were a little softer. 😂. He will be 3 next month.

Our 10 month old cat bonded with our newborn daughter. The cat started by laying next to the baby in the crib and on the the jungle gym. The cat slept with our daughter her entire life. She sat with her when our daughter was older and worked on homework after school. The cat even gave her love bites from time to time and "groomed" her. The cat mourned when our daughter went away to college . She stopped eating. It was sad to watch. The cat lived for 21 years. The bond they had was special.

My cat was born and lived her first six years in a shelter in the "quiet" room for fearful kitties. Her tail was always down. After a year of me walking slow and talking soft, that tail is up, she comes to her name and is starting to lay against me. She's still spooky, but getting better.

@@M_SC It's very rewarding, isn't it? I'm working on that with a cat right now. He spent 7 years in a closet! Not sure why, but he's very fearful. He loves being groomed and massaged, so will now come to me for grooming - only if I'm on the floor, or sometimes sitting. He's still afraid of motion over his head. He also panics if I try to pick him up when I'm standing. But he's come a long way in 9 months, especially for an older cat.

I actually felt very loved after this video. They're far more expressive than people give them credit for. They also get more comfortable and loving with time if you're being patient with them and treating them right. We adopted a 3.5 year old cat five years ago and we still find her mellowing and wanting more love and affection and security over time or learning to communicate or wanting to be part of things.

My rescue cat Bella does what we call "floppy stretchy rollies" over and over down the hall as a "welcome home" as we enter the house from the garage. She stretches out, flops over and rolls on her back from side to side, then gets up and does it again and again, farther into the house as she goes. It's so adorable!

I have a young child with ASD and she loves our cat. But she is often also unsure of if the cat likes her, is mad at her, etc. Reassurance only very occasionally works to calm her concerns. I'm glad to see that you understand your child's struggles. I'm also on the spectrum, when I was little, I was confused by cats behaviour. How different they are compared to most dogs. It took me into my 20s to truly understand the feline species, and in doing so, I've grown a deep appreciation for their unique personalities and now own my very own bombay! Found a stray kitten while at work. Vet felt she was 4-5 weeks old at the time. I brought her home and my wife and I cared for her and brought her back to full health. I had absolutely no previous experience with cats. Fast forward year and a half later and I am officially a “cat dad”. She meets me at the door after work and curls up on my every night prior to bed. Way more affectionate then I had ever believed a cat to be and I find myself borderline spoiling her. Definitely the best decision to rescue her as I would likely have never owned a cat let alone get to full on “cat Dad” status.

3 weeks ago I adopted a timid little girl who had been DUMPED at the ARL. It was so obvious that she hadn't gotten any attention. She hid out under the bed but has come out to lay beside me. For those hesitant to get an older cat in fear that it’s too late to imprint, it can be done!! I adopted a beautiful 9yr old black cat years ago and she very quickly imprinted and bonded to me. I had her 9 years after adoption (she passed last year at 18). I Met and moved in with my husband 4 years ago and she spent those 4 years letting him know I was hers 😂 she always slept on my face/neck and would follow me everywhere waiting for me to sit down so she could get on me somehow. That cat was a part of my soul I will never get back. Hug your kitties and appreciate every cuddle. ❤

We got Penny from animal control as an adult- they guessed she was maybe 2 or 3 and she was horribly matted. She was so fearful that she hid in the basement for months- only coming up after my husband and son went to bed. I'd stay up late to spend some proximity time with her. It's been 5 years now and she's a sassy, bossy, cranky, beautiful member of our family. She is particularly obsessed with my husband, lol! She head butts so hard and purrs like a rusty chainsaw.

Years ago there was a stray I tried to take in. I let him shelter in my shop and left food for him. He would never allow me to get close enough to touch him but from time to time he left me presents on the doormat inside the shop. I felt so bad for him that someone had hurt him too much for him to trust a human again but it was wonderful to see these signs that he appreciated sharing the space with me.

Poor thing but it sounds like he found the absolute best situation for him. For a former feral he had the freedom to come & go. But he also knew he had a safe space there with you. Some organizations will actually re-home ferals that don't tame down. With farmers as barn cats or in New York they were rehoming them with places that have large docks for the trucks in the back. Not so much to hunt mice/rats but to just get the place smelling like cat so the rodents don't want to come there. Don't feel too bad though. There's a tortoiseshell that likes to hang around my porch & my neighbors because we'll give her food. She'll actually follow me to my door if she wants food. But I've never gotten to pet her. Although I think my neighbor has.

A stray cat has started to sleep on my porch a year ago. Not sure how old he is.pretty big size. I feed him and when I open the door to feed him he is sitting there waiting for me. But he will not let me touch him or even purr.sometimes he will come on porch while I am sitting and lay down.not sure if he will ever bond with me

I am a "cat whisperer." I work with clients to help correct problem cat behaviors, and I thank you for everything you said above. Jackson Galaxy is right -- too many people see cats through dog-colored glasses. I have also notice that fulltime indoor cats (my own, and others) bring a favorite toy to their human, or leave it on their human's bed. This is the indoor equivalent of a mouse, mole or lizard for an inside-outside cat. Also, if you have an inside-outside cat, and you scold them for bringing small prey, they often come back with a BIGGER small creature, because the first gift didn't please you. I tell my clients that although it goes against human logic, to PRAISE Kitty when she brings home a mouse, then discard it in an OUTSIDE trash can when the cat isn't looking. She will bring home fewer gifts that way. I have known cats (my own, friends' and clients') who have a vocabulary unique to their humans. A dear tuxedo of ours, Shamu, used to request "wa-uh" if other cats had been drinking from his preferred bowl (make it fresh, Mama!). He greeted us at the door with "EH-oh" because we always said "hello" to him when we came in. He had a large vocabulary including "no" and about a dozen other non-human word sounds that had very specific meanings. I have found that if I consistently say hello when I see a cat, "water" when I present fresh water, etc. that cats often try to mimic those sounds.

You must have a good ear. I too would repeat the same words like water, treat, outside, massage (petting), hello but all the meows sound the same to me. One cat was quite talkative and quirky. But his different meows were hard for me to understand. Also, he didn't raise his butt or put his tail upright. He would slowly wag it back and forth. Not sure why this hasn't been noticed in some cats (it's different from a tail swish).

My cat, Aro, has healed so much of my heart. He is a tuxedo cat, and is so smart and I'm certain his meows sometimes sound like hes saying "mom" 😂 He is so loving and affectionate that it brings me to tears at times ❤️ And edit: he lets me do all these things on the list, yay!

Yes, tuxedo cats are wonderful!!! I have two male tuxedo litter mates; they talk to me all the time; I call them "the squeaker" and "the singer," because that's how they sound. They are 16 years old, and have brought me so much love and humor.

Aww, the squeaker and the singer haha, that is just adorable 😄 We had another kitten, Aro's brother although he sadly passed when he was little. I was so worried for a while about not having another cat for him and thought he would be lonely but he is actually best friends with our darling old dog and they play together, sleep together etc ❤️

I got a free ranch cat, and the owner said good luck because she’s psycho! Once she got away from the teens, dogs, cows, etc she must’ve felt better. I’ve never had such a loving, intelligent, trainable cat in my life! She’s even super friendly with strangers, deer and dogs (until they chase her). I had a similar experience with one of my babies. I was living in a house that had a mouse problem. I told the landlord and he said, "so get a cat!" So I took to the internet to find a good mouser. The add said, "Free cat. Cute but Psycho!" I responded and asked if she was a good mouser. I was told she was. I was also told she hated kids and men so if I take her, keep her away from the kids. I thought, fair enough. I told my kids that the cat I was picking up wasn't fond of children and to not be surprised if she didn't warm up to them right away. I picked her up and brought her home. The kids sat in a circle on the floor, with ample room between them so she didn't feel trapped. I opened the carrier and she beelined it straight to each of the kids and started rubbing all over them and accepting scritches and loves. She didn't even get a "proper" name. Everyone just called her Baby and she answered to it.

@@JennicaDuncan Both the original comment and yours just proves that sometimes it's not that the cat is bad it's that the people didn't know how to be with cats. When I volunteered at the local humane society visiting cats to socialize them, I was told I was a natural with the cats because I immediately knew how to get to their level and let them come to me. This was of course because I had grown up with cats, I don't think there has been a time in my life when we haven't had one or more cats.

Precisely! I am imprinted by my seven cats, especially my precious 25 year old Zilda, who is doing so well, and is treated with the utmost care and love. Besides, I think my 5 dogs are imprinted by the cats too, for they all get along so well. All of which were rescued in dire conditions, and all are cared for with the most complete love and dedication!

It's been a year and a half since I lost my cat who was my childhood best friend. I haven't been able to look at any pictures/videos of him because it hurt too much. But this video made me go and do it, and I'm glad I did. I'm crying my eyes out but I needed this. We had this little game when I stared at him across the room and he meowed at me, I then hid behind the door and when I stopped hiding, he meowed at me again. We could do it for like ten minutes straight haha. He was very introverted, but he really loved me and my mom. I miss him so much, 17 years were not enough.

My cat has definitely done all of these things with me. She showed up on my porch doorstep one day and was visibly hungry. She instantly let me pet her and I fed her. I found out she was microchipped and that the previous owners had intentionally abandoned her.. when winter came, I started letting her sleep inside, to stay warm.. she went from only letting me pet her for a very short time and then walking away, to sleeping on my chest at night and curling up beside me on my bed and meeting me at the door when I get home. She’s very sweet and loving and I’m grateful she showed up at my door. She hopped up on my lap after I finished typing this.

My cat been missing little over a year 🥺 We had a bond unlike any I've ever seen or heard of! She'd stare at me in the morning til I got up. She'd wait by the door, then wait by bathroom door. Then up on top of toilet tank "sitting" with me. She'd have 1 or both paws on my shoulder, turn her face at me giving me kisses & we would meow back & forth as if having a conversation. 1 chair at the table was hers. She'd sit there while I'm having coffee, again, us meowing in conversation. After my coffee, she'd go in her room til later in the day. She did all of these in the video except giving a gift of dead animal. But that's because she was strictly an indoor cat. The 1st few months I had her, I had an aquarium. That was the only place she'd drink water, not from her bowl or dripping faucet, just the aquarium. I really do miss her, I hope & pray she finds her way home to me (I do think another family took her in to keep 😢)

@@nicooliver6019 I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but a long, long time ago (back when I was in primary school) we had a cat that we had to put down suddenly after finding them almost lifeless on the back mat. It happened all of a sudden. The vet explained they'd suffered serious kidney problems because we pretty much only fed dry food at the time. My mum grew up in Italy during WWII and they didn't have cat food so she just looked at the price, thinking that something labelled "cat food" has to be right for cats. I never forgot that cat, so now I'm in charge of buying my cat's food I feed very little dry food, and one that's a better quality - the bulk or all of every meal is wet food. I can't afford really expensive stuff but I try and read the label and get the best I can afford rather than just looking at the price ☺️

I adopted an eight month old cat from an animal rescue group. I brought him home and he promptly ran and hid under the bed in the guest room. I left him alone and periodically checked on him for the next six hours. I finally just laid on the floor and held out my hand. He came out and I showed him where his food and litter box were located. He now lets me hold him like a baby and sleeps in my lap when I watch tv. I’ve also taught him a trick. If he comes in my bedroom, I will stand next to the bed, snap my fingers and point to the bed. He knows that means to jump up on the bed. I wake up with him purring me awake so he can have his wet food, and greets me with purrs and coming up to me then standing up on his hind legs which means he wants to be picked up.

My cats always greet me at the door when I come home. My ex husband confirmed they'd always get up and walk to the door a minute before I unlocked the door - we were living in an apartment. On the second floor. They always recognized my steps outside the building (!), knew it meant I was going to be arriving in a moment, and came to say hello. To this day it makes me feel so loved and leaves me in awe at their sense of hearing!

My mom noticed that one of our cats would always hang out on my bed at around 3 PM on Fridays. Same here, I have a security camera. As soon as the car is pulling in the driveway they go to the entry area. They know its exact audio signature. I have seen it too many times to count. My former cat knew the smell of the Forrest around the cabin. He would always wake up and meow 1 1/4 miles away. Nothing changed with the car for another 1/2 mile but he knew we were near. The trip time was never the same a the lighting was different each trip as well but he would always react at the same approximate point.

I have a stray kitty that lived outside and I fed for almost three years. I built her an insulated and heated house for the winter and fed her all of the food, but she refused to come inside. One late night during a blizzard and arctic blast she finally raised her surrender flag. She has been indoors living a very lavish life ever since. I am not allowed to touch her because she is still feral but she is always near me and rubs eagerly on any surface to show her love. Makes my heart melt.

We adopted a starving pregnant feral female cat. It took four years of care before she would let me pet her. I bought her a heated cat house for winter time. She would never come in the house though and also freaked out if I tried. She would let me carry her around the yard but only outside. She was with us for 12 years. We did our best to care for her. We found homes for her kittens and got her spayed and vaccines. Once she was losing weight and I had to trap her to get her to the vet. Sure enough she had a cracked infected tooth.

Watching this video as my cat is sitting on my lap where he (always) refuses to leave. We bonded instantly when we met in the pound when he was 5 months old. I was adopted by force by a very standoffish community cat, about a year ago. She stalked me for a while (watched me feed birds & squirrels) then one day came right up to me, trilled & head bomped me! Some neighbors were concerned, since they hadn't seen her around, but my mom told them it's ok, she moved in with me & even sleeps on my lap & in bed. I'd say she easily has about 9/10 score so far. We recently rescued a stray five week old kitten. Female. She’s now 13 weeks old and constantly follows me, sleeps on my pillow, licks my face, and sticks her nose in my ear and sniffs… But, she also bites! Usually easy at first then a bit rough. We usually blow into her face to discourage this behavior. Worked at first, now she is reluctant to stop. She will bite my nose and chin while I sleep. Any recommendations? My husband and I were in the process of adopting a dog when a neighborhood cat showed up on our porch covered in spider webs. Crying here because I lost my baby a month ago after 11.5 years. She did 1-9 frequently except bringing me presents because she was an indoor cat. She would RUN towards me when I got home. I would pick her up and cradle her in my arms and she would lick my hands like crazy while "air kneading" which is kneading, but straight up in the air ..while licking. It was so cute. She did one thing not mentioned here, which was love bites or nibbles. When I was holding her, she would come up and gently bite my chin. It was adorable. She would cuddle up to me in bed and sleep, sometimes most of the night. I miss that cat SO much. I know I'll need to get another one, but I'm afraid that no cat will ever measure up. P.S. Forgot one. She would sit by me whenever I was on the toilet (yup) and stare at me, wide-eyed for a long time. I'm 60 and I've been fascinated by cats my entire life. They are so unique.

After my last parrot passed away and many years later, we decided to adopt a cat. We visited the SPCA several times and did a ton of research. We found a wonderful little girl cat named Ms Hobbs ( long story). Most of the signs you are discussing she does to me! I love this little girl so much and often tell her. She visits me at night for like 5 minutes, I guess she is checking on me. Makes biscuits every day, she sits in my lap a few times a day. She brings some of her toys to me, I wake up and the same toy is there every day. We play several times a day. She gets fed 2 times a day and gets snacks in between. I can’t tell you how much I love this cat she is so loving. I can’t pee by myself, or shower, I love it! She loves her 3 season porch, sitting in one of the rocking chair, sunning herself. She thinks she is lucky, I’m the luck one!

You know, I knew my cat loved me, but wow, didn’t think I’d actually have all 10 signs. (She also looks out for my son, as if he were her own kitten. If he’s upset, or crying, she’s there. If he’s playing something neat, she’s right there with him. She also guards his door when he goes to bed, until he falls asleep, to make him feel safe - I’ve always said she doesn’t need to do that, that I can sit and listen for him, but she’s always given me a look, like, “Nah, Mum. I got this one. You go eat dinner, get ready for bed, go play. I’m watching him.” She very much co-mums him, and is happy to do so. She sometimes will nip me in the upper arm, really hard, and I’ve always assumed it was anger about something I wasn’t doing right for her. Turns out that no, she’s telling me that something is wrong - not with her, but with me. Specifically, that my blood sugar is dangerously low, something I didn’t even know I had issues with until recently. So, yeah, my cat saved my life. Go Cookiedough! 😻

My cats do all of these things. Even my feral tomcat progressed from being unapproachable to asking for belly rubs and trusting me enough to offer his injured paw for inspection. My absolute favorite signal is the jaunty tail. Some of my cats like to accompany me and the dog around the block. Their tails are normally at half-mast because they're on alert for danger. Whenever I say their name or they're within ten feet of me, the tail shoots straight up like an exclamation of joy. The first time I noticed my feral cat doing this, I knew I had a chance of taming him. One of my cats has to have one paw on me when possible. She sleeps next to my chest at night with her paw on my arm or in my hand. I've assumed this is a sign of ownership.

Cats have so many unique ways of expressing affection to their people. I’ve never had the furry friendship bracelet, but I had one that would always put one forepaw on my leg or shoulder whenever he sat or curled up next to me, and one that would always break into a run when he walked into a room and saw me, as if he couldn’t wait to get to me. The male half of my current pair likes to grab my head with a paw and pull me in for a headbutt. His sister likes to make biscuits on me, or next to me while purring and looking me in the eye. I don’t know how to describe how it’s different from regular staring, but direct eye contact is her love language. 🥰

Our latest rescue, Charlie, is highly responsive to perceived need for comfort. He shocked me once when I made a loud screech-wail sound at some gross food thing in another video. He thought I was in pain or something, and he jumped right onto me. He was purring loudly, giving me face mushies, pawing at my face, mewing, licking my nose and kneading on my torso all in the same split second he jumped on me. It was amazing to find that out about him, but I felt so bad for making him worry so much. He also used to bring all of the kitty toys to my side of the bed and meow at me at night before he got used to his safe, new indoor life. He's such a sweetie and I'm so glad we're living up to his expectations. ♥

My husband and I are 64 and have had an ever-changing set of at least 3 rescues all our adult lives. One of our current three is a feral cat with a clipped ear. He’s more than 10 yo yet only 8 lbs. After my son found him with sores down to the bone, he knew I’d take him in. He went right to the vet, but then needed to be quarantined for six months in a room by himself with regular visits from the Dept. of Agriculture to monitor his healing. That’s the law in my state. Eventually my son found all 3 we’ve had for many years; they were all wandering around in the city where my son lived. One is a stunning shiny, all black male who pulls hundreds of books off the shelves every day for fun. I assure you it’s no fun for me. All 3 healthy male cats are imprinted, but not at all with one another!

My Orion showed up about a year ago, so hungry that he was trying to eat birdseed and cracker crumbs. I cried and started feeding him. At the time I was losing my Beloved Pyewacket to bladder cancer. I decided right there and then, that if I couldn't save my Pyewacket, I COULD save this cat. It took me a whole year to gain his trust and affection. Now he sleeps on the bed with me every night and we got 10/10 on the bonding scale. He's an absolutely beautiful Maine Coon/Manx cross with a Tipped left ear. He's my Gentle Giant Lovebug now. I wish I knew his history. We think he lost his first home in a terrible wildfire that burned down half of our town. I checked, he didn't match any of the missing kitties that had been reported. Our local animal shelter told me if I could get him in off the streets, that was just as good as adopting from our no kill shelter. Orion will have the best possible life for the rest of his days. I adopted my cat from a shelter when she was 8. She had been at the shelter for months and I couldn’t understand why no one had wanted her. She was the most beautiful animal I had ever seen. I held her once and I knew we had a bond right off the bat, despite never being a cat person, per se (I didn’t think cats liked me). She was scared and underweight when I brought her home. I didn’t force affection or even attention from her. I just spoke to her softly, fed her consistently at the same times everyday, and waited patiently with no expectations. She gradually started approaching me and when my husband was in the room (or anyone else), she would nuzzle herself under my arm and peek out. I was her safe space and that was just fine with me. As weeks went by, she would spend less and less time under the bed. She began nuzzling her head on my face, “talking” to me (her meow legit sounds like “hello” ☺️), running to greet me at the back door when I would get home, and sleeping in her safe space under my arm at night. She is now 13 and my family calls her my shadow because she is always by my side. Luna is healthy, happy, and sleeps on my pillow with her face touching mine every night. She hasn’t needed to hide under my arm for a long time but she knows I will always be her safe place. It’s truly a love like no other and I hope everyone gets to be a cats “person” at least once in their lives. ❤

Befriended the local stray cat. Bro brought me an entire gopher. He had already got himself one to eat that morning too. He brings them so often 💀 He's very loud and a gentleman who walks me to my car. The previous stray years ago a bit before we had her fixed would bring us her kittens . She was a gentle sweetheart but loved scaring me when I'd go out at night by jumping down from a tree behind me.

My cat was abandoned in the dead of winter and I have now had her about 8 years. She has done everything on your list. When she was dropped off to my house it took her all of 10 minutes to know she was home, I have never seen a cat get so comfortable SO quickly. She is the sweetest cat I have ever had...she is no doubt a mama's girl.

I have 2 male neutered cats, 5 and 6 years old. They both have done most of what you've described, but most notably, one has brought me 5 garter snakes and the other gifted me one. They both dropped them at my feet, unharmed. Once in the house where I had to rush to grab it before it raced off under the couch. I tried to act grateful, but returned them to the shrubs once the cats were distracted.

I adopted my cat when he was 18 months old. He wasn't super close at first but now he does kneading, head butts, kisses, cuddling in my lap, sleeping on me, he talks, and is just a big sweetheart. He's always excited to see me and won't leave me alone for at least 10 minutes after I come in. He crawls all over me and practically makes me hold him. He gives hugs too. He's 10 now. He's come a long way. He's a very good boy.

We are lucky, our cat has bonded with both my husband and I! She does half of behaviours with him (chirping and chatty with him, jumps on the counter to be near him, curls up next to him at night) and the other half with me (Long slow blinks, grooms my hand, runs to greet me when I come in the door). Is that unusual? Has anyone else Experienced that?

My cat Louie has sooo much love in his heart, even though he is missing claws on all fours. I started getting emotional when you said they have the ability to imprint on you. This cat grooms me, chirps like a kitten, brings hes toys for me, lays by my head at night, the list goes on. I feel so incredibly lucky he found me.

I adopted a rescue cat 3yrs ago. The first night she slept on my pillow and has done since, mostly taking up the whole pillow. Star does all of the ten things you mentioned. She taps me on the shoulder in the night for some attention then goes off to play. She loves getting brushed and I only have to say "Star, where's your brush?" and she comes running to me. I foster cats and a year ago we welcomed Ellie who had been abandoned and was painfully shy. She stayed under the bed for a month then developed an amazing friendship with my car Star. She was coming out on the sofa and started letting me stroke her. The relationship with Star grew stronger them licking each other. I decided to keep her. Now after over a year Ellie sleeps next to me, head butts me for attention . She is still a little jumpy at times, scared so I just let her be. I love fostering and 3yrs ago brought a 15 yr old tiny shorthair back to life having been found near death in a garden back to life. I kept her, she bonded with me followed me everywhere even when she went blind. She survived 18 months with renal failure. It was sad at the end and I miss her. I had the cutest 10 week old kitten who had malnutition and 4 broken legs that had healed on their own wonky. He is a survivor and such a funny cat and has a lovely forever home. His limbs are weak and he has an occasional spine weakness. We are giving him the happiest life . I have a wall with photos of all cats that come my way. I am 64 and dedicated my life to these beautiful furbabies. I love your channel thank you

I have a 5 yo cat I adopted as an adult from a shelter, and a 9 mo kitten who I took in from someone who found her almost dead on the side of the road when she was about 7 weeks old. Both of them do all of those things (except the kitten isn't hunting prey outside). The adult cat is also finally bonding with the kitten, letting her rub against her fur and I even caught the older cat rubbing back. It feels so good to know they both trust me completely. As annoying as it can be at times - especially when the kitten tries to groom my hair at night - that unconditional bond is just so satisfying.

I lost my wife around 4 years ago and about 3 years ago I found a kitten that was injured and very feral on my wife's memorial and he is such a beautiful cat but sadly only will allow me to pet or play with him he hisses at anyone who comes in the house but with me its a beautiful buddy.

I got my third boy from a rescue that was from a home with elderly couple who went to nursing home. They never socialized the poor guy. He'd tense up just touching him and hide his head in corner of a box all day. After some meds, love and understanding his favorite spot is on my legs. And I purr to him, twill, and imitate his sounds to him. So glad I can give him a good life,,,maybe someone above had something to do with that.

I live a few hours away from my parents, but go there frequently. After their older cats passed on they got tiny kittens, something we've never had before (we've always been adopted by strays or taken in a car from a friend). Since we raised them for like 5 week old kittens they LOVE us, even my mom and brother who aren't cat people. I was at their house for two weeks and the cats were all over me because my dad was in the hospital and I was their surrogate dad haha Before I left I had to pick up our Tom tabby cat from my dad's bed, the cat was sleeping on his back, belly in the air. I scooped him up like a baby and held him on his back and he was just chilling. His sister will jump up on the table to get closer to you as soon as you walk out in the kitchen and constantly meows for food...which she never eats.

aww! I had a cat like that over 20 years ago. He had an extra long tail so it would arch over with the tip of the tail hanging just behind and between his ears. I sometimes wish domestic cat lifespans are longer.

My cat Winston does 8 of those imprinting behaviors with me! I'm truly blessed! I rescued him from a shelter at 4 months old & he was glued to me for months. Now that we've introduced 2 other kitties into the household (a 4mo when he was 8 months old & a 1.5yo when he was 3yo) he's come into his own. He plays with the other cats & has multiple nap spots around the house. But at night, he comes & meows very insistently when he's ready to go to bed with me & already tried all the subtle hints! And, yes, I go happily 😃 😊

I had a adult cat (no idea how old, he's a very tall and long grey tiger cat) he showed up porch awhile ago. He was really skinny, looked like he had been dropped off somewhere or was not being taken care of, he had ticks that had been on him for awhile. He was walking around meowing but it sounded like cries, he was afraid of everybody. So I sat on my porch on the ground for hours until he finally came up to me. First I was able to get him to eat food out of my hand and he ate like his life depended on it. He slowly over the next day and a half would let me pet him longer and longer. Once he became comfortable enough I started removing the ticks and checking him for any wounds at all. I've been feeding and watering him small amounts multiple times a day as he was skin and bones and I didn't want him to over eat and make himself sick. Now every day anytime I come outside and I'm greeted so lovingly, he jumps up on my lap purring so loud as he's kneading my chest and collar bone area while he runs his head on my chest and/or face. He likes to lay on my feet and roll over to get belly scratches etc. Now before anyone gets judgemental about why I didn't call someone about a possible sick cat....I actually called animal control as I was concerned about his well being and I was informed that animal control was out of town or state for the weekend and it was the middle of the night and vets were closed. I called the animal control on his cell and he advised me to just give it a little food and take it to the shelter in the morning when they opened. I wasn't okay with just giving him some food and not trying to help him so I've been taking care of him because he trusts me and is still afraid of everyone else for the most part. I think I'm going to let this little guy stay.

Panther came from an insecure past to me thru a foster program at 6 months old. When I met her, she only watched me carefully, until I laid on my back on the floor. The foster mom had never seen a person get literally on the cat level. She approached me cautiously. Thats how it went for another month in my home. Me approaching her in calm manners low down and letting her decide what we would do. Now she is a rather exuberant in her love. I often wake with her flopped across me. Panther is almost 1 1/2 years old now, and she does all of it, except let me pack her around. Her presents are household items. She may have needed me, but turns out I needed her more.

I’ve had cats for 54 years. Many, many rescues. I’ve had all the behaviors you mentioned from all of these cats. I adore cats! My husband and I now have only one left as we sadly buried the 2 oldest ones (17 and 17 1/2 years old), in the last 6 months. The one left is about 5 years old. I think he misses the last 2 cats. He is ALWAYS near or on one of us, then with the other. It’s even more so since we got an electric blanket! 🤣. I enjoyed your video very much!

I was gifted a 2w old kitten by a feral mother. The mom would check on her kitten but the kitten ultimately bounded very closely with me. I taught her to hunt and play with cat toys and was gifted with a mouse she caught in my new Apartment lol! I’ve always treated her as if she was a child. She recognizes about 20 words/phrases and usually obeys a command. I try and allow her interactions based on her needs (I won’t keep trying to hold or grab her if she doesn’t wish interaction is an example). Her photo is my logo. So, so sweet!

I had a cat who would bring me geckos. When I bought a new bed, I had to remove the old one. I found her gecko graveyard. There was a bed skirt so under my bed was her hideaway. I made a point of not using the underside of my bed for storage. That was her space. The live bird was the most exciting gift I ever received.

This is awesome. Thank for this video. I’ve never been one for cats as pets, always a dog person. But a little stray gorgeous short haired black female around 7 or 8 weeks with a small white button spot on her chest (eyes were still very dark in color and lasted about week) strayed in the outer skirts of the yard (I live in the country) at night of all timings, cold, wet, hungry, very scared and meowing intensely at a distance, though. It took me 3 weeks at a very slow pace with her because I knew she had been abused by seeing a big healing soar on her forehead and she finally let me touch her. It’s been history every since with her watchful eye on my dog, her buddy, my little Bean, and I’ve been her Momma and he’s been her best friend every since. But of course, he’s a little jealous because he’s been my baby for 5 years. She has displayed all ten behaviors with me including letting me rub her belly and let’s me rub her feet and she will strike up a cat conversation with me by soft meowing and We start meowing at each other…I don’t know what I’m saying to her but it’s gentle meows back and forth and she understands it’s a healthy loving conversation then we head rub each other afterwards and she lets me kiss her on her nose. I’m not sure exactly what that means or represents in the cat world but I feel the love between us. Even though I try to read any piece of literature I find but it does really answer questions. There are things I don’t understand so I’m still learning and kind of figuring it out as we grow together. It’s funny, I tried naming her several different names and she would just ignore me except when I called Ms. Kitty, she’d come running. So in essence, she chose her own preferred name. And it’s been Ms. Kitty every since. She’s now going on about 10 months old and a very loving laid back baby girl and spoiled rotten like her big brother, My Little Bean. ❤️

We have 2 silver tabby sisters 6 years old. Lily adores my hubby but just uses me as a warming platform. Ruby, on the other hand, lies on my lap, gazes into my eyes, licks my fingers and nose and sometimes bites it (ouch!) and dribbles all over me. I adore my baby and constantly tell her so, and that she is the most beautiful kitty in the universe. The two of them love each other and Ruby always washes her sister but Lily is a lazy lump who sleeps for England and rarely returns the compliment. They have their occasional spats and sibling rivalry but they always kiss and make up, and cuddle up together to sleep like 2 little beans in a pod. They are our constant joy and delight - two halves of the same unit, and we have one each!

He also left the odd "present" (usually a shrew) on my bed. He is very vocal too but more shy than his sister. She loves to rub herself against me and gives me little licks. I love cats and dogs. Two of my boys passed away a few months ago within 6 weeks of each other, we miss them terribly but grief is the price we pay for love. One kitty was a later life rescue who was unfortunately very sick but also very scared to trust humans. He did eventually learn to trust us but that was more because of our other cat who Ollie regarded as his point of safety. We had raised Pip since he was a tiny kitten and he lived to the age of 17, if Pip didn’t react badly to something then Ollie knew that he didn’t have to and that he was safe. Ollie eventually did most of the things in the video although it took us years to earn his trust. I like to think that he had a few good years with us though, he was a very loving boy once he got over his initial hesitation but the trauma responses never fully left him and sometimes he would trigger over the smallest thing and we would just have to wait it out until he calmed down and realised there was no danger. Hard to do when all you want to do is comfort the poor thing. I will never forget the first time that Ollie’s tail stood straight up in the air with confidence when he greeted us at breakfast one morning. That was the result of weeks of effort and was such a relief because it meant that we might be able to treat his medical conditions effectively at some point. Pip on the other hand was always an aloof and kinda grumpy soul right from the time that he was a kitten. He had a bit of a reputation at our vet for ripping the poor nurses to pieces if he was displeased… I once asked the vet if he could believe that at home Pip loved getting belly rubs and he replied ‘never in a million years’. Pip did lash out at us from time to time but not to intentionally hurt us, it was usually to pull our hands back for more pets while forgetting that he still had his claws out. We could never fully trust him enough to put our faces near him, yet when I look back on his 17 years, he had a version of most of these… he just never got the memo that claws can actually hurt sometimes. Pip didn’t linger long after Ollie left unfortunately, he sadly took a stroke one morning and that was it. Ollie was the first cat that Pip ever ‘liked’, we were honestly surprised at how closely the two bonded and were outright shocked the first time we caught them sitting on the same pillow grooming each other… animals feel strong emotions just as we do and I don’t understand why people are surprised that cats bond in the same way as dogs but show it differently. I think anyone who has ever owned a cat will know that they are all individual little personalities who show that they love you in different ways, just like humans.

We adopted our senior kitty when he was about 8 years old. He came from a loving home. He is now 14 years old. He follows me around the house, will meet us at the door, will sleep in the family room when we are in there, and sleeps on my pillow. He licks and play bites, and lets me kiss his nose. I feel very honored.
