Always keep an open mind to your options when crappie fishing. Especially on days when the bite is not so good. After a slow morning, I find a fallen tree that is loaded with SLABS. It presents a challenge in that I can not cast into the tree because it is like a jungle. That's when it's time to bring out the LONG POLE and a vertical presentation.
Equipment used in this video.

My absolute favorite way to fish for crappie. Exactly what I picture in my mind when someone mentions crappie fishing.

There is just something about dropping it right on their face and the bend of that long pole. Tight lines 🎣

I got it last year for Christmas and I really like it. They are very light, balanced well, and have a ton of back bone. You can fish it all day in comfort. Thanks for watching. 🎣

Thanks sir for the excellent vid. Using a long pole to vertical fish is one of my favorite ways to pursue them. I have a LVS34/1022 combo on my boat and it really is amazing to see the reactions of the fish to the bait. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't.
@GordonPettieFishing

I appreciate it. It sure is fun catching them that way. I have really come to like the long pole over the last year, as I never used to use one. It definitely opens up another way of catching them. It sure is amazing how many never bite but will follow or track for many feet. Thanks for watching 🎣

This was earlier in the week. I was there Thursday as well. They bit much better Thursday. I didn't have any huge ones on Thursday, but I did Friday. That 2.47 was a STUD. Good catch. 🎣

One of my buddies that long.poles pretty often uses 10. Braid might be even better if fishing in trees like I was in this video. I used to have that bug as well. Bow season was always my favorite.

Have you ever had your ACC rods break on you?
@GordonPettieFishing
@GordonPettieFishing 8 ай бұрын
I haven't. I have a few different models. I'm not sponsored by them, by the way. I have had rods break before, both crappie and bass rods. Most of the time, rod breakage is due to abuse of some type, (all brands). High sticking, stepping on them, and causing a weak spot, closing lids on them and causing a weak spot, etc. The rod usually breaks a few trips later, and we don't remember that we stepped on it or high sticked that fish a few trips ago. Thanks for watching. 🎣

In Tennessee, the TWRA raises them in Hatcheries across the State. They stock them on a yearly basis as needed on all of my local lakes. Usually 50 to 100,000 fingerlings at a time. They do very well and grow fairly quickly. They are very aggressive, which makes them very fun. Tight lines 🎣
