Dude, so helpful! I've had a ramp I built for my Stampede 4x4 and Losi 8 nitro which worked great. I just recently got my first 6s rig (Kraton V5) which is a lot bigger than my stampede and 8. After a couple jumps the ramp I had used for 2 years was done. I was punching a hole in the particle board upon initial entrance of the ramp. I thought let me use 1/4 plywood instead. After 15 minutes that ramp I just built was done as well. I remembered watching this video awhile back and decided to watch it again. You have all that reinforcement at the entry point to prevent putting holes in the ramp. I now know how to fix my problem. Thank you. Love your vids!!
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Ron 😜. Ramp building can be a trial and error affair. My last ramp did great overall with 6s, but got hammered with the 30+lb ARRMA 8s rigs. I use to make them as light as possible for the task at hand. That's fine when it holds, but punching holes, splitting templates, and busting cross braces gets old. You basically chase your tail doing patch jobs. Glad this vid was helpful Brother. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Best thing I’ve found to coat these Ramps with is red guard form your local Home Depot . It’s pricey because it works good . I threw sand on the wet coat and recoated on one ramp and it’s a gripper bro . This will keep your ramp dry outside and on the wet ground . Make sure to get the sides good . 3 coats at least 👍👍. I thought rhino lining might be ok too but I had extra red guard . We use it as an extra water barrier on top of concrete board on floors and in showers before tile is laid . Totally not necessary but it is good stuff

@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Metal ramps can be very strong no question. Unfortunately, they can also be heavy, loud, and damaging to RC's. If you have a metal mesh surface in particular, any chassis screws that come loose will snag and snap clean off. Metal ramps are best for freestyle MX in my opinion. The only decent premade ramp I've seen is the Freshpark Ramp. The rest look like overpriced junk 😝

Anyone have problems with kraton 6s diffs? I keep braking a planetary gear. It’s super annoying. I’ve got ear plugs in all 3 diffs. It’s a v5 tuning 6s…
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Ear plugs are too thick for the 6s rigs 👀. The truck can't diff out as designed when needed. That puts all the force on the planetary gears and set pins. I run 50/500/20k front to rear and it works great. 🍻

Rich, If you had to choose one which would it be, Kraton 8s or Outcast 8s?
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
For pure fun factor, probably the Outcast 8s. The thing is, the Kraton is better for massive jumps and high speed drifting. It gets the power down much easier without the front end lifting. 😎💪👊👊

What would it be like with grip tape. Mean ramp bro. Like a pro
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Brother 😜. Grip tape is not a bad idea. Because the skids and chassis rub with higher speed hits, it would probably wear down or might snag the occasional loose chassis screw 🤔. Porch paint is another option. I used that to coat my mini ramp with for skating. It's takes the slip out of most all woods. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hey rich I’ve noticed you run hobby star on some of your rigs and on one of your kratons I think. I’m building me up a v4 kraton and I’m runnin the stock blx 6s system and I was wantin to put a hobby star motor in it but what Kv would you suggest for the factory blx system and what size pinion do you run? Thanks man I appreciate it.
@trevorflowers16753 жыл бұрын
Oh and I’m runnin backflip lp’s. I take a lot of ideas from you and rcdude81. I’m a huge fan of both you guys. And I’m tryin to build a basher similar to yours and his. Thanks again for any info or advice you can give.
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Hey Trevor 🤗. Been running Hobbystar motors for years. Love the 4092 1730kv. Most guys run them on an 18-20T pinion. I haven't ran mine paired with the stock BLX185 ESC, but it would probably work with all 6.5mm connectors. In general the 4092 is probably best ran with a 160A ESC for max performance, but RCJuice claims any 1/8 150A is sufficient. 🍻
@trevorflowers16753 жыл бұрын
Hey man I really appreciate that. I thought about gettin the 1900kv and runnin it on a 18 tooth pinion but I was just worried it might be too much motor for the blx185.
@trevorflowers16753 жыл бұрын
@@richduperbash2966 I actually think I’m gonna go with the 4092 1730. It seems like it should work with the blx system. Man I really appreciate your help. Thanks again!

Around 250$ USD. That's more than double normal cost, but lumber and steel prices are super jacked at the moment. Fortunately, I have enough spare ply to build another ramp 🍻

Hey Rich was wondering what I could do to prevent my rear main diff gear from constantly stripping out on my kraton 6s?
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Make sure to shim as needed. I typically run 2 or 3 Tekno #1222 shims on the crown gear side bearing to help keep the input and crown gears in better alignment. Make certain your diff case isn't cracked or stripped. Otherwise it won't do it's job keeping the diff in its proper position. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Hey rich i just wanted to know what would be better the hobbywing max 5 with the 1100kv or the 800kv hobbywing all around
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
That's a tough call 🤔. Both motors are great with the right gearing. I'd recommend the 800kv with 1/1 gearing for the heavier Kraton and probably the 5687 1100kv with around 29/39 gearing on the Outcast 8s. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Dude was wondering if the ass end of my truck would quit bouncing up on landing if l quick the damping on rear shocks? I was going to drill holes in piston a little bigger size. Is this a good idea? The only problem is it's a Traxxas Maxx lol🤪. Sorry bro lol. If you could hit me back thata be sweet thanks bro.
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
Hey Brother. Sorry I just saw this 👀. Bouncing during landings is usually from having under-dampened shocks, meaning the oil is too thin. I'd try going a bit heavier on the fluids first. You might need to play with the preload too. Try adjusting the shock collars up or down a few turns. Shocks always require experimentation to find a happy medium for different terrain, jumps,...etc. 🍻😎💪👊👊

I don't have any motor fans on my off-road rigs but I limit my max gearing and make certain my ESC fans are functional. I'll check temps routinely too 👍. My goal motor temp is around 150F, ESC around 130-140. Been using my buddy Ian's fan mod to preserve the stock fans with great success. No more busted blades despite brutal impacts. I left a link to it in the pinned comment a couple vids ago. 🍻😎💪👊👊

Yeah the timing is horrible 😂. Lumber prices have driven the average new home price up about 30k 👀. It was painful paying 3X what I should've, but my last ramp wasn't safe anymore either. @@richduperbash2966 Yea you need something robust the way you fly haha!! The one I built is 4 ft wide, just the standard what you see on youtube, and good lord it weighs a ton lol I like the wheels concept here....easier to roll in certain locations 👍 I may modify my ramp to something like this 😁
@richduperbash29663 жыл бұрын
@@RUZTY1311 yeah 4' wide is perfect 👌. The inner moulding and tail area of my van has a narrow spot, hence the 40" for easy loading. Definitely grab some casters. They're cheap and make rolling around a breeze. Easiest to use self tapping lag screws to lock them on.
