@@classiclover2129 Okay I was a little bit off with 100 years, more like 150 years. My point was OP said "hundreds of years" as if classical music was as far removed from today as the great pyramids of Gizeh while I feel that this music is fairly recent, in the history of humanity - and also within the age range a huge difference between the older and the newer pieces featured. I took a look at the ages of pieces in this video. Nine pieces are between 200-300 years old. Nine pieces are between 125-150 years old, and the two most recent pieces are 86 and 26 years old. Around 1875 must've been an awesome time to be alive, so many great pieces from that time!

@@loizospapaloizou9494 Lots of people.... There's also a decent amount of overlap between the fans of death metal and fans of classical--I know a decent amount of people who listen to both genres. In fact, scientifically it makes a lot of sense--if you are more systemizing than emphasizing, then you are more likely to enjoy genres like metal(because of the heaviness), and in theory you are more likely to prefer very complex styles of music(like classical, jazz, progressive metal, or technical death metal). I say in theory because the scientific literature has not observed it yet, but they theorize that that is the case for people that have an really high systemizing to emphasizing ratio.

I used to hate death metal, but now it is the genre I listen to the most... I used to think death metal was just bands like "cattle decapitation", "napalm death", etc. But, I've failed to see the beauty in it--like, some of the best examples of that beauty are "story to tell" or "flesh and the power it holds" by Death, "subtle change" by Rivers of Nihil, "crack of light" by Vintersea, "forget not" by Ne Obliviscaris, or "Apparition" by Spawn of Possession. I get not liking metal screams, but it is an acquired taste that once you get used to sounds absolutely amazing. Like, I used to hate harsh vocals, but now I absolutely love it.

I have to listen to instrumental music because lyrics distract me to death, but often times instrumental stuff is either way too chill (and bores me to sleep) or way too frantic (and sets off my anxiety--I can't win). This is perfect and gives my brain the dopamine it needs to help me stay focused and in a good productive mood. It's auditorily exciting without being distracting. Thank you so much for this!

One of my ancestor on my mom's side did it. She was a countess and took her jewellery and a few dresses and ran with the intendant. I don't know if she was married to a count or if her future husband was to inherit the title by marrying her but she decided to leave all of it to follow her heart. That's recklessly romantic. Not sure there was a musical background though...

I was moving into the castle, and dropped a painting, so I had to go Bach to get the moat's art. Then I was in a fugue, and didn't know where I was or how I got there. That's when I knew I had to get a Handel on things. Unfortunately, I was baroque, and I've been in this moat ever since.
@DataLal3 жыл бұрын
What unfortunate Gluck! This moat's art is as bad as a wolf gang. Hope you can cross this off your Lizt soon and get a Holst of yourself! Then you get Debussy Chopin for something new.

The moment when at 9:25 Mozart hits all 11 musical intervals except G which is the tonic of his 40th symphony while playing the main motif of the 4th movement is maybe if not THE most ingenious musical statement of all time. The guy might had been thinking "Ooh this might be a nice trick" while the rest of us kept listening over the centuries with open mouths the birth of atonal jazz 200 years before it's creation. Mozart almighty 🙌

I've come across some people that have said that, I always ask why they say that... so far it has boiled down to nothing more than a stigma against anything, not mainstream
@pinkyb.73983 жыл бұрын
@@wjnovels6999 People say that because they've never actually listened to classical music. The only samples of classical music they've been exposed to are from the baroque era and Mozart's Fur Elise.

I'm a pianist, and my sister says any classical music I play sounds like "elevator music". Modern music has drums to keep you in time, vocals to give you a literal story, and a simple chord progression to hold your hand. I don't care for any of these things, but I can understand why classical music sounds so muddy in comparison
@pinkyb.73983 жыл бұрын
@@devinbelver7124 Because music has become so oversimplified, people's understanding of it has too. Anything more complex will naturally sound "muddy" because their ears aren't well adjusted to it. There is an interesting phenomenon called The Musician's Ear, it explains it pretty well

I even worked alongside folks at KDFC in San Francisco, and never figured out what was going on over there. I have an 11-year-old daughter and we will get schooled up together on these timeless pieces. Keep swimming in positivity...
