My first time seeing this 11/28/2020. After seeing there new stuff I can't help but to wonder if the video quality from filming this is the same as there new stuff but for what ever reason they had to reduce it to upload it. Good job and obviously made before the Axanar lawsuit. It takes one person to mess it up for everyone else. These folks do a good job presenting there short films.

I wish we had that excuse, but no. This was our first film, not only did we not really have a clue what we were doing but it was shot on an early 2000s consumer camcorder. Back then, hard drive space was more expensive so the editor opted to capture and cut it in 512 resolution to save space. :)

Pretty nice, having Elizabeth Shelby as a cameo in the opening. Tying this fan film series at least obliquely to "Hidden Frontiers", another great fan series, is a nice touch. Takes a little getting used to the accents, but what the hell, why should only Americans have all the fun?

Afraid we can’t take any credit for that, the actor was guessing from playing the same role on Hidden Frontier. They were basing her character on the New Frontier novels, where she was called Elizabeth. I’m guessing the Picard showrunners just ran with the name from the books.

@StarShipIntrepid2 жыл бұрын
Editorial decision at the time based on the cost of hard drives. The files took up a lot of space and we didn’t have a lot of money, so the editor opted to capture at 512. I don’t recall why the upload was lower than that, it was a long time ago. We’ve often spoken about releasing it in 512 and making some updates to the edit, but the director/editor is the only person with the footage, and he simply hasn’t had the time or energy to devote to it.

Kudos! Love this! Thank the Gods you didn't make the romulan a blond or something! Been seeing it way too often lately with fan based stuff! The uhhhh star fleet officer with her hair hanging like a curtain looks extremely unprofessional. Wouldn't a "military type" organization with military ranks demand proper hair style (like putting it up in a bun) or some way to keep it out of the face? I imagine sensitive equipment would be in danger of possibly becoming damaged if a long stray hair got into it?

Sorry, you’ll need to be more specific. This film’s nearly 20 years old, so I don’t recall specific lines. Do you have a timecode for this reference? :)
@davidmeltzer18715 ай бұрын
I viewed it just the other day for the first time so for me it is new. I believe in civilian rule OVER the military in real life and in my view of the Star Trek universe. Archer bringing together the 4 disparate life forms to create the Federation to deal with the Romulans required force hence Starfleet. I didn't care for the timeline of the Terran empire where might makes right. Granted Starfleet is a benevolent entity but it serves the FEDERATION. There is a civilian Federation President. Even in Bernam's time. Here NOW we have many military dictatorships and there the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many. Not a logical approach .
@davidmeltzer18715 ай бұрын
I know somewhere in those 47 minutes the preeminence of Starfleet OVER the overall Federation prompted my original statement here and no I will not review the episode. If you feel I don't know what I'm talking about fine....I have other fan films to watch. The best-STAR TREK CONTINUES

I dont understand why they have uniforms that are all different. And what the heck is an admiral doing with a green tunic. They NEVER had that on star trek. Only red. Red =command. Not gold not green.
@NotoriousBroadcasts10 жыл бұрын
The two sets of uniforms were used on the actual star trek series Deep Space nine, during the time of the war with the dominion. Using the two uniforms at the same time was a way of crossing over to the new style permanently. And yes, there were command uniforms in that blue-green colour. They were used for ambassador status commands.
@MrRahimhosein10 жыл бұрын
+NotoriousBroadcasts. Thanks for the information. However on ds9 they had two style uniforms at the beginning. The tunic with the color on top represented a special assignment duty uniform and the one from tng was standard. The new uniform during the dominion war was a new standard uniform and they just changed it. Nothing special as to why. Also no where in canon star trek did we ever see an admiral or ambassador where a blue/green tunic. So you cannot say they did have. Show me a pic or tell me which episode in canon star trek had a color other than red.
@MrRahimhosein10 жыл бұрын
and to add what you are saying this personal is a commodore and not ambassador. i guess they just needed different uniforms to be different and didn't care if it made sense, low budget i get it can't blame them. but it is the attention to detail that make it count as well. that is why star trek continues is doing so well
@NotoriousBroadcasts10 жыл бұрын
RSH21 -- There is also such a thing artistic liberty - This is supposed to take place in the original timeline after the end of the actual cannon. It's conceivable that Star Fleet would have developed new uniforms and procedures for a changing federation.
