Note: I used version 1.23.4 of the mod in the previous video. Version 1.23.6 is being used in this battle. AI aim tolerance was modified in this patch. That means that the AI will fully aim at their target before firing. It may have decreased the amount of shots fired by the Russians. It probably caused the Mörser to fire less due to the more precise target acquiring required.

What do you do? You properly siege it. I've seen so many videos in men of war of attacks on forts, in waves. but never, a suspended, siege attempt. Bring out artillery, shell the place, soften it, bomb it, mortar it. Probe the defenses with recon units, fortify your own position, then, try to take it, if you fail, shell it MOAR. Unleash hell from the sky! I want to see a video like this. Oh, ye holy Diplex, could you deliver?

at least consider increasing the wave sizes because no army will send in so few troops against defenses that strong, the soviets' strategies in WWII often involved overwhelming their enemy's defenses with infantry and tanks that lacked quality but excelled in quantity. I still enjoyed the video but it didn't seem very strategic.

Yeah, in real life, anyone who ordered their troops to charge Mega Death Fort 4000 without spending a day or two softening it would probably be executed for treason in this period. Imagine Eisenhower in D-Day looking at the Normandy defenses and thinking, "Screw it, lets zerg rush 'em" and the Allies losing half their troops and all of their armor in like an afternoon.

Diplex would have to make a larger fort though, the eight waves in the current version are enough to bring the defenders to bad position, in the British assault for example all outside facing weaponry was destroyed and besides the tiger there was no meaningful defenses on the inside, it would have lasted maybe two more waves, which doesn't exactly express the idea of infinite waves.

The twin 120-mm gun is actually an Italian weapon. They were made for some of the 1920's and 30's era destroyers and large torpedo boats. Also used as Dual-purpose weapons on battleships and heavy cruisers.

Concnetrate the heavy and medium armor in the first few waves. The final ones should be mass infantry, static guns and light armor.

if youre not interested in sitting through he narrative, the initial wave commences its attack at 4:24 , followed by 6:36 to round out the tier 1 attacks, for tier 2, , 9:07, and the 210 gun initially fires at 10:21 followed by the next wave at 10:41, he actually launches the FOURTH wave at 14:04 , then 16:59, and the final wave is released at 19:33

Diplex, it might be against a set of rules you've set for yourself, but perhaps you'll need to order the infantry up yourself, so they don't hold back and stay in cover. The assaulting infantry seem cowardly at best and are running to the cover of the tanks, but the infantry aren't going to move and will sit there, getting pounded by German artillery. With all the MGs there will be an abundance of casualties, so it will likely come to something of a land-based D-Day scenario, but it seems to be the only way to enter the fortress.

Almost every part of the base he used, with some minor changes were from the Fortification Asset pack. If you want to build a base like his, look it up on the Workshop. Trust me, they're basically prefabs that you can copy together to make an awesome base. (I suck at editing, and I can make a glorious base.)

Love these videos. However, for fortifications of this strength the Allies would have used airpower extensively. The Ami;s would hit it with P-47's, the Brits would send in Typhoons, and the Sovs would smother it with P63 King Cobras and Stormaviks.

I think the big mistake in the attack plan was not leading with the heavy tanks. IS series tanks were infantry support so the guns could smash fortified positions. That was the same role for the KV2 but that tank had the added feature of not working. Not working is generally looked down upon in military circles.

You're using similar tactics used in WW1, full frontal infantry assaults with armoured divisions to support (see battles @ Passchendaele, the Somme + any others I haven't mentioned) but no pre-bombardment. There is no way any attacking force could take this fort with that strategy, you would absolutely need artillery support in addition an air raid before a full frontal infantry assault (any chance for some air force gameplay?). Even then, why not flank the fort? Let's see some gameplay from the flank defences; keep up the videos they're great man! Love your work.

Finally you sent respectable numbers to the battle. At the very. very. very end. The reason why you keep seeing failures is not because they're under but you kept on sending them in small numbers. Not only that, the Germans have MORE guns than the tanks you kept sending off. Of course they'll fail with every wave you sent, regardless of types of tanks used.
