This is a very interesting and somewhat unique tent. I like it. Seek Outside makes top notch high quality gear. I will be doing a full review in the near future.

This is a very interesting tent. Unique and well made. However, I am not 100% sold on the zipperless design yet. I need more time with it before I solidify my thoughts. That said, real cool tent

I've had the silex for over 2 years now. For a fast and light trip it's great but the zipperless doors for me aren't my favorite, I love the concept but in reality, getting in and out requires you to put on rain gear if there's condensation as you have to press your back pretty hard into the canopy in order to reach the linelocs for the door system.... great tent non the less if you can get past that little quirk👍

That is one nice light weight tent! I really like that sliding fly door access! I have been a hammock sleeper for a while now because sleeping on the ground (even with a pad) is rough on my old bones but I recently bought the Helinox Cot and that is a gamechanger for me! I might be adding tents back into my carry items depending on the situation and this one looks inviting! Thanks for the review Justin!
@ItsGoodintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
This is a really cool system. I do feel like it is a tad heavy, but there is a ton of room in this thing. Those cots are really nice. Plenty of room for a cot in this tent when used without the inner tent. However, I don't think there will be enough room in the inner tent for a cot. My pad alone is a tight fit. I am going to be doing a full review on this tent soon, I will make sure to demonstrate it's capabilities

There’s a lot of really appealing details about this shelter. However I feel it’s lacking without at least one peak vent. Also if it was sil poly that would be advantageous.

would you recommend getting the nest or the cub stove for it??
@ItsGoodintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
I would absolutely recommend getting a nest for it if you plan to use it in bug season. The cub would be a great stove for this tent, but it will be a tight fit. Very doable but It is not a very large tent. And, You will not be able to use a stove and a nest at the same time. Personally it is too small for my preference in a hot tent. I like a bit more space. If you really want to hot tent with it, I would suggest looking at the Seek Outside Guardian. It is the same exact design, just a bit bigger...more suited towards hot tenting. Here is a link to itseekoutside.com/guardian/

I simply don't get the zipperless door design. As you say, when it's up it's going to be flapping around, and it's going to be pooling water too. In terms of organising shelter for cooking and venting it's far less flexible than a zippered vestibule - and with reasonable care a short, straight zipper should last for the life of the shelter.

I agree 100% I am not a fan of the zipperless door system

Lol remember all that time ago when I recommended seek outside over luxe? (It was probably one of your first luxe vids) pretty funny if you ask me!
@ItsGoodintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
I do remember. I was not prepared to spend the extra money at the time. I have had 4 Luxe tents.Those 4 tents taught me what I wanted out of a hot tent. ..can you imagine the collective cost of 4 seek outside tents?!! I have the Cimarron, and this Silex was loaned to me by a subscriber. That said, you were right about Luxe the whole time. And Seek Outside. Seek makes awesome gear
@jacobpoucher2 жыл бұрын
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I say these 2 things all the time . Buy once cry once. Ya gotta pay to play.
@ItsGoodintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
@@jacobpoucher I tend to agree. For the most part I would say that is true. However, buy one $400-500 to realize its too small....then buy another to find you don't quite like the shape, the next one turns out you wish was taller....that all adds up. That is why I am fine with the route I took. Just part of the process. Now I absolutely know what I want out of a hot tent, so I will happily spend a ridiculous amount of money on quality tents. And I have these Luxe tents to sell off to help ease the pain. I learn best through personal experience. lol
