These videos are now the only precious way of seeing these gems of the skies which are no longer with us. Partly due to Covid and the financial spin which has been created with not listening to the people. So I am still watching this video after it came out in the year that I turned 30. I know some might say who cares to a lot of the airlines who now operate directly from their base and right across to the west however for me they will be deeply missed and never forgotten. All the classics right the way through The Magestic Queen Of The Skies will no longer fly. OLD IS GOLD and this will always be the case as time goes by.

Thanks a million! I didn't think I would watch the whole thing, but it was as though I was there myself, as indeed I was - back in 1969! The aircraft have changed, but the thrill is still there. Thank You so much for the excellent effort. So enjoyable. Cheers, Carl

Actually 777 uses 3 types of engine. The most common is the GE90. Not the PW. They also use RR. You don't get PW engines on a 777-300! 777-300 & 77W use GE90's & RR.

Incredible variety of aircraft. I was surprised to see an Iberia A340. For the person trying to distinguish between the B777 and A330: If you can see the tail but can't distinguish wing detail, look at the tail cone. Airbus aircraft cones comes to a point near the top of the fuselage. Boeings (except the 777) come to a point in the middle of the fuselage. The 777 is flattened on the sides with a vertical surface at the tip. Although 747s have been around for 45 years, they still amaze me.

Wow! A fantastic job on your part filming these beautiful heavies taking off from Heathrow! As I live in the USA, I once had the pleasure of taking a trip to London back in '95. I flew in and out of Heathrow on AA. I believe that both landing and departing jets were Boeing 767's and the US airport was JFK in NYC! I commend you for the time and effort that you put in filming!

It was filmed over about 2 hours. Theres many more departures, smaller aircraft, and even in this video I did miss out several BA 777's & 767's, so its not too repetitive. Between every flight its about a minute, with a 2 minute gap, between a heavy and a smaller aircraft, this is to allow the turbulence, left behind a heavy to die off.

Great footage! Many years ago I used to sometimes film the landings at Heathrow.I parked my car more or less in line with the runway and filmed the planes all lining up on their final and follow them down to touchdown. It was a fantastic feeling having these planes flying so low.Unfortunately the filming was done on VHS so rather dodgy quality. Filmed early nineties ,the police moved me on a couple of times because of my parking so I did not bother anymore after that. Not possible today!!

Hi, i dont know anything about rear set of wheels, but front wheels are stopped by two steel plates (each one for one wheel) located on the ceiling inside the front gear compartment. Wheels simply hit them and stop spinning.

Airlines often don't use their largest airplanes only for the long haul flights; but also for the busy fights (as rachaelmatt said). For example, ANA in China use the 747 for 1 hour flights.
