if you like boxing topics, look into the history of the Fan man, he's not just a made up guy on the simpsons, he has an interesting history of interrupting major eventing and famously crashed a heavyweight boxing match and was nearly beaten to death by the crowd and things only got grimmer for him after that, it practicly screams Qxir video

@@415volts The fact the fans were booing him was hard to listen to, like, granted I'm not much of a fan of boxing but if a dude at McCall's level was just having a breakdown like that, the last thing I would do would be to seemingly go out of my way to make it worse.
@JE4-1
@JE4-1 11 ай бұрын
Although a few psychologists disagree Oliver McCall suffered a mental breakdown that night, the most likely explanation as to why is probably due to him being mentally unstable from going through addiction and rehabilitation in a short period before the fight. It probably didn’t help that Don King pressured for the fight early on top of McCall’s emotions often showing up in his career. Dude was going through it big time and even mentioned not feeling mentally ready.. The pressure of the fight, fresh out of rehab, mental issues, Don King, all of it…

I'm not denying Lewis was too wobbly at 10, but I've seen a lot of fights, and that was the fastest I've seen a ref get to 10. Normally, they don't start the count until opposing boxer is in a corner. I think that is a rule. If you watch again, I think you'll see that the ref must be counting WELL before the other guy is in a corner. He HAD to have. He's at 6 when he finally got over to Lennox. He started his count too early.

Honestly was feeling his pain when he started weeping like a child, not giving a shit about any of it. He just got out of rehab, that is even harder than taking a punch from Tyson. It's reality and it's overwhelming as hell. And so is depression and other mental health issues. It can be too much for anyone, as this case proves. Nobody becomes a drug addict for fun. I'm speaking from experience, I'm clean from drugs and my sister killed herself 3 months ago because she was depressed and couldn't stop drinking alcoholically. But thank god McCall (and I)saw the light and never surrendered.... Yet 🙏

I'm amazed and inspired by the fact he was eventually able to live a healthy clean and sober life. It's something I've struggled with personally, and I am still rebuilding my life right now, and my breakdown wasn't televised. The longer videos definitely give more of a "wild ride" feeling, but after three consecutive weeks of making 13+ minute videos, I think I'm gonna have to tap out and do shorter videos for a bit. Doing so many drawings per week eats a lot of my personal time and it starts to affect both me and the people in my life I should be spending more time with. On the other hand, a week of torture is worth a final product that'll (hopefully) be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people for years to come. As a sparring partner for Mike Tyson, he definitely wasn't a nobody. He probably learned a few things from the great. And hell anyone bold enough to continuously spar with Tyson more than once deserves a chance against any champion or for the title in his weight class. It doesn't surprise me that he had mental issues all those head shots he took from Iron Mike. Although I do feel bad for his situations that he was dealing with. On a brighter note, this channel is magnificent and I always get excited when there is a new video. Keep up the good work. I've been watching your videos for a very long time and I'm happy that you have the subscribers that you do now. 🤙✌️😉

I dunno how much you'd really get to learn. With most fighters at that level I'm sure it would be a technical master class as long as you're qualified to learn it. Mike Tyson in fighting form is a wild animal, seems like it would be more like trying to learn about fine cuts of meat from a hungry tiger. It also bears considering that if he apparently just _can't_ be knocked out, that doesn't necessarily mean he's in a class to actually _put up a fight_ for Tyson.

I completely agree with you on the stoppage. Lennox Lewis was obviously hurt, barely able to stay on his feet, and the ref can stop the fight without counting to 10-it’s called a TKO.

That’s not a partner. Partners are supposed to lift you up when you’re weak. That’s an anchor. I hope you have family and/or friends to lean on instead. You might need to move out at least temporarily to get some rest. Stress doesn’t help with healing.

Thanks for qualifying your “ nobody ” characterization of McCall. He was known to fight fans as a top boxer, but his time being Iron Mike’s sparring partner was part of his reputation. The tapes show Mike sometimes forgot it was a sparring session, and facing him two or three times a week was probably worse than a lot of fights.

I can speak from experience with how crippling mental health issues can be. A bad week with many sleepless nights can make it feel like it's the end of the world. If I didn't have the support network of my two best friends, and didn't have the stubborn conviction for a daunting goal--that bad week could've eaten me alive. The mind is a powerful thing. It can shape the world around you, but if you aren't careful, it can cause your own destruction.

Honestly it seems like he should have stopped it sooner. I didn't hear him answer "yes" when the ref asked if he wanted to keep fighting. He shook his head no, then shook yes, while his corner screamed in his ear to say yes. Then he walked out there and didn't even try to block or dodge punches, after several rounds of no offense. When he got up, didn't come out swinging, and just ate another punch... call it. He ain't okay.

i had forgotten about the level of toughness oliver had. While in karate tournaments, I would imagine how terrifying it would be to face a man like that. Just unable to knock him out or stop him with strikes, and he having the power to kill you in two punches or less. Glad he got ahold of those demons! I love to hear a happy ending to these types of stories :)
@johnladuke6475
@johnladuke6475 11 ай бұрын
Not that the guy wouldn't be terrifying if he had you in a dark alley with a good reason, but he's also not a terminator. Unarmed strikes that are legal in boxing can't seem to knock him down or out, but any weapon you can bring to hand is a game-changer. Not to mention, that long list of foul blows that you can find for any fighting sport - because they can incapacitate _anyone_ if they land. To be clear, I wouldn't be eager to take him on and would prefer to outrun him, but I'd still be far from hopeless.

A lot was going on with Oliver this night, everybody who had helped Oliver get to this point in his career had turned on him. People who had worked with him for years and helped him dvelop his style, they knew his strengths and weaknesses and now was helping his Opponent learn how to beat him. And also gave his opponent the majority of the purse, i think because he was being forced to lose, as this fight was most like fixed against him. Everything was wrong for Oliver, he had been used one to many times as a step for the careers of other boxers. This was a dark time for boxers like Oliver, who was one of the best and toughest fighter of his time but, he was never allowed to shine.
