My Hebrew journey with you keeps me alive in this crazy period... There are many things I cannot do anymore, dance, music at the conservatory, take a bus to go somewhere, enter into my kids' school, take them to the swimming pool, but at least (so far) I can study Hebrew at home. It really is a great support to me, you cannot imagine, thank you.

@@AlephwithBeth Yes! I was definitely glad to be able to download the pdf. I was having a little trouble following the layout order there since it seemed to zigzag back and forth a bit. @AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathaniel, if you want to work on your listening skills, one idea is to go back to an earlier lesson and spend some time just listening to the audio without the visual input. We have some awesome volunteers uploading the isolated audios of our lessons to a podcast for us, so if that's convenient for you, you can find that by searching Aleph with Beth Podcast on any major podcast platform. Hope that helps!

PS: A question 🙋‍♂️: that you know Beth, there is the possibility of vocalizing an unvoiced Hebrew text and then transliterating it into latin characters to know how to pronounce it? I am saddened that google translator does not provide a professional voice synthesis tool as for other languages - Thanks for the attention - Alessandro :: Italy 🇮🇹❤️️
@jesusstudentbrett
@jesusstudentbrett 3 жыл бұрын
SOLUTION FOR ANDROID: Go to Google Playstore and install Aharon Ron TTS. Then in Settings -> Language and Input-> Text to Speech -> select Aharon Ron TTS Google Translate app would then have Hebrew->Engish voice synthesis/pronunciation just as the English-> Hebrew does. Webpage does not but only the app.

one more question so in Past tense its באה Future יבו Present??? For the verb to come? And does this grammar rule remain same in modern spoken hebrew or does it Change?
@AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth 3 жыл бұрын
There is some disagreement among scholars about how to label and classify the different verb forms in Biblical Hebrew. In general, I would say it's best not to think of them in terms of tense, but rather in terms of aspect, so qatal forms are perfective and yiqtol forms are imperfective. In general, בא and ויבא will be translated as past time, and יבא could be present or future time. I really recommend consulting a Hebrew grammar or two to start getting an idea of the complex verbal system in Biblical Hebrew. The verbal system of Modern Hebrew is more tense based, and quite different than the Biblical Hebrew system.

@AlephwithBeth
@AlephwithBeth 2 жыл бұрын
It's natural to do that, but I'd recommend trying to minimize it as much as possible, perhaps through listening to the story repeatedly. In the long run, the more you can go directly from Hebrew to comprehension without using English in between, the faster and more fluently you'll be able to read.

There was a man who was a prophet and judge in Israel, his name was Samuel. He walks today with Yahweh God... I say that he walked in all the ways of Yahweh God in those days.... and now walks in the ways of Yahweh. And he also went that way yesterday. The people of Israel also went yesterday and are going today. One day Samuel made his sons to be judges over Israel, but the sons of Samuel were evil ... I say that his sons did not go with Samuel in his ways to do righteous work. Why? Because they were wicked sons and did wicked works in Israel. And the LORD was not pleased.
