We all live for all those who were, and for all those who are yet to be - versions of each other, variations of one enduring theme: being human, being alive. Just a thought.

Hecq has a lot of unbelievable music... but for some reason, this album is truly a masterpiece to me. It really sets itself apart from his other music. I really hope he expounds upon this style for future albums.

Gravity was somehow related to this, in my opinion. I agree with you about the status of this album.

+Susmit Biswas I completely agree, I Am You really shines in the end of this album ! If you're interested, just know Hecq and Hymen Records released a remastered version of Night Falls like two months ago, and there are definitely some improvements.

are those tracks available in KZbin yet???
@ADDADotflac8 жыл бұрын
+Susmit Biswas I don't think so, but you can follow the link to the Hymen Records Bandcamp page I put in my description, and you will access to its full streaming.

Okay. But I really hope you make up a playlist with the remastered tracks, coz of your choice of the wallpapers, the visual effects on a static pictures are amazing and definitely sychronize with the tone of the music. Moreover, your story on the tracks is amazing. I can literally visualize the journey you described while listening to the album and I always feel I am the one who is making this trip. I even had a thought that a short film can be made on the basis of your story with only the Night Falls tracks running in the background. :)

+Susmit Biswas That's a really nice thought you dropped here, thank you very much man ! And it's the kind of comment that awakes my motivation to keep writting on all my videos, and keep uploading new stuffs, so it's definitely appreciated ;-) I don't know about uploading the whole remastered thing, I mean, the album is here, I talked about it from the beginning to the end, and I couldn't bring something more to it, even with a remastered version ; it would also sound redundant on this channel. And after all, my goal is to motivate people to discover music, make them appreciate it through my inner travels I'm sharing in the descriptions, but ultimately guide them towards official links that will make them buy the albums. I like to see my self as a small promoter, and hope I led some folks to buy an album in the end of a video. That's why I don't feel like sharing Night Falls again here, in a slightly different version : I would tell the same story, with the same pictures. But if you are curious enough, you'll let yourself discover the newer version of Hecq's work, and find the differences yourself ; and trust me, the remastered version is sounding clearer, deeper, and has a few improvements that I totally loved. Thank you for your words !

For some reason, this track reminds me off The Dark Knight Rises. I guess it has to do with the whole buildup part, and how the track sounds like its constantly rising. Hecq even mentioned in a interview that one director he would love to work with is Christopher Nolan.

Yeah it really does sound like the dark knight rises. It has the same kinda vibe and tone alil

I usually browse Google Images until I find the closest picture to what I imagine when I listen to a track ! If you wish, I always put the link to the wallpaper I use in my videos, at the end of each description, in case someone would like to have it as well :-)

I understand this is a one-of-a-kind album, but if a kid like me is looking for more spacey / cinematic / ambient / breath-taking music, where should he look?
@ADDADotflac7 жыл бұрын
A lot of albums could fit this description, but you could start by looking at others Hecq / Ben Lukas Boysen albums like Mare Nostrum and Gravity. Also a lot of Ultimae Records artists are fantastic at creating mind-expanding and exceptionnally produced music ranging through downtempo, IDM and ambient : Pollen by Aes Dana, Movements, Leaving Home, Until We Meet The Sky or Altered - Second Movements by Solar FIelds, any Carbon Based Lifeforms album (especially Twentythree if you like space-related stuffs). Really, there are dozens, but these are a good start !
@DavidBraun317 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Since falling in love with this album I have checked out most of Ben Lukas Boysen's stuff and it's all pretty great. And I do really like Carbon Based Lifeforms (my favorite of their albums being Twentythree, funny you should mention it). I've gotten really into spacey ambient (e.g., Steve Roach), and I'm generally looking for stuff with the same feel but a little more drive (like Night Falls), so I'll definitely check out your other recommendations!
@ADDADotflac7 жыл бұрын
If you really dig ambient-driven releases, you could try VLA by Carbon Based Lifeforms, some darker hour-long drone stuffs by Sabled Sun on Cryo Chamber (especially the series Signals I to VI). If not necessarily space-related but expanding nonetheless, maybe try Sleep by Max Richter, Hotel Neon by the group of the same name (a personal favourite of mine since a long time), Killing Ghosts and The Sea in the Sky by James Murray, Works by Abul Mogard, Monadh by Muara, Time Heals All by ASC, II by Bersarin Quartett, Yours Are Stories of Sadness and Safety in a Number by Bvdub, The Peregrine and Wilderness of Mirrors by Lawrence English (a bit harsher but extraordinary releases to try anyway), of course The Place Where the Black Stars Hang and Dark Matter by Lustmord (seriously, these two releases are crazy drones from a master in this genre), At GRM by Marsen Jules, Over the Summit by Netherworld, A Fragile Geography by Rafael Anton Irisarri, Qawwali Quatsch by Scott Monteith, What Wind Whispered to the Trees and Subsiding by Siavash Amini, anything by Thomas Köner and (except Tiento de la Luz) Tim Hecker (except his two last LPs !)... And even more. I hope you'll find new horizons in these albums I hold dear in my heart !

I'd only listened to Sura until today.... I used to listen to that Track and have my t.v on mute during the final battle in the shadow broker dlc. Used to fit perfectly! Love this track! So much so that i've just gone and purchased night falls off itunes! Just started it now! So far so good!

Pap Plays! If you digged Sura, I'd definitely advise you to try Avenger (hymen-records.bandcamp.com/album/avenger) and his latest Conversions (adnoiseam.bandcamp.com/album/conversions). Maybe even Steeltongued (hymen-records.bandcamp.com/album/steeltongued). Hecq is an incredible artist, really.

ADDA cheers for the tip off man! was up until 5am this morning ramming as many of his tunes as i could into my ears! Loving it! Been quite obsessed with star gazing recently too, I live in a tiny town in the welsh countryside so i dont have to go far for an awesome view, and ben's music fits perfectly!
@ADDADotflac10 жыл бұрын
Pap Plays! Haha, then for stargazing, you should definitely use Night Falls and Gravity then :P But there are hopefully a lot of other artists to enjoy that, if you are interested ;-)
