Hecz I deal with Photos all the time on my mac as I make videos for a living. I had the same issue before and found that it puts all your deleted photos into a "Recently deleted" folder for 30 days in case you deleted something by accident. Go to Photos - File - Show Recently Deleted - and all the photos will be there and you can permanently delete them from there. Hopefully this helps

Use C-cleaner to clear out unused files that are left behind after deleting/uninstalling files, it should free up some space.

Check your trash. When you delete it only deletes part of the file so that if you need it it can be restored. Go into your trash/recycle bin and permanently delete it. 90GB will still leave a large file size in your trash even though it has been (in a way) compressed.

Hecz, get a solid state drive. I just put one in my MacBook Pro and it made it SO much faster. It's pretty easy to do yourself, too. You just have to plug your new solid state drive in to your computer with a SATA to USB cable and clone your old hard drive to the solid state drive. Then, open up the computer, take out the old hard drive, and put in the new solid state drive. Just make sure you take the time to clean out all the junk from your old hard drive before you clone it. I recommend downloading CCleaner to do most of the work. After that, just go through all your documents, photos, movies, and programs and delete what you don't need. Anything you want to keep but don't really need, put on an external. There's a lot of videos and forum threads about upgrading to a solid state drive. Email/PM me if you have any questions, man.

Photos makes backups without you knowing about it. When you check your storage under (Apple Logo)->About this mac-> Storage, you can probably see a lot of purle (Backups). If you do, you should search for the command that disables this function. You don't need your mac to do backups since you seem to be doing them yourself. GL

You have to empty your trash bin as well. If you don't dump your trash bin after deleting or transferring files, your hard drive stores it. Google "Mac show hidden files" once you do that, you'll see an invisible folder called trash most likely. Empty that out

It's in the Recently Deleted folder. Go to Albums and click on Recently Deleted then top right corner hit Delete All. :D

In order to actually remove something and make it clear space you need to empty your recycling bin. It is still on your computer in your recycling bin, just incase you wanted to restore that file back to lets say your documents or wherever it was deleted from.

when deleting it from "photos' you need to either "delete" it once right clicked the selected photos and then empty the trash can or you have saved the Photos/videos into a seperate folder on the mac that has stored the content in there... there fore that folder needs to be deleted

To free up the space after deleting photos you need to go to recently deleted and get rid of that, then get rid of temporary files. If you don't know how to do either of those just google it and it will be first thing to pop up

I've had the same problem but i forgot how i fixed it it has something to do with how you moved it onto the back up, the computer still thinks its saved on the computer. Try plugging the back up in and remove it from the trash, copy the files again, remove the back up and delete the originals again.

You have to empty the trash within the photos app... Also if your full on storage and you use time machine for your backups time machine automatically fills empty storage with backup files... Then when you save a file on your Mac your backup files are adjusted accordingly so it is always filling your storage with backups..make sense??

Hector, there is a great app for mac called ''Disk Inventory X''. It will scan your whole computer plus any extra hard drives that you've connected to your computer and it will show you exactly which part of your computer takes up the most memory. I had a file full of video's from 2012 which was over 80GB that I never used anymore. It might come in handy, do some research on it if you don't fully trust a random stranger on the internet.

You didn't do anything wrong bro, Macs duplicate files pretty much every time you move them. And the duplicate into virtually invisible files. If you have transferred all your important files to an external then you are free to reformat your Mac. I did the same thing about a month ago and it's like the day you opened it. It's great! My whole computer pretty much was video files. A Yellow bar looks familiar to any Mac user.

Hey Hecz! I had the same problem with my memory on my PC and I just couldn't find out why I am not getting addition hard drive space when I delete things. So i installed an app called TreeSize Free (google it) I just dont want post a link incase you have links disabled! It finds files that takes up the most space! Hope this helped!
